I’ve lived my life being shuffled around from one spot to the next, home to home and place to place. I’ve never settled down and found the right one or had a family of my own to rely on. It’s just me, Maud, and the old flower shop I’ve worked at since I graduated from the foster care system. Well, that is, until it burned to the ground.
In a turn of events, I have no job, no home, a busted-up car, and the most irritating fever I’ve ever had, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s my heat! My very first one. Turns out, the whole alphas and omegas thing is real, and I’m an omega dragon, a Dette. But, with the help of a crude alpha dragon, his beautiful rare flowers, and his years of experience, I’m discovering more about myself and will work hard to give him the family we both always wanted.
Deep in Dette is a MM Mpreg full of sass, crass, and a—eggs. Guaranteed full of steam, knots, and heat, sure to raise a few brows. If you like fated pairs that complement one another and don’t share well with others, download Deep in Dette today.
This is a two sided review for me. On one hand, I adored the actual story and Leo and Hallr were just great together. On the other hand, I had several issues with how the story was written.
The story: I love the concept of dragons, Drakes and Dettes, eggs, nesting, the whole secret society. I love it all. I do have to wonder though, how many unknown Dettes like Leo are running around in this universe unaware of what they are and going through heats and popping out blanks. Seems like quite a risk to the dragon population. I really liked Hallr. The other dragons kept wanting to make him out to be this rakish type dragon, but I didn’t see any of that. He was so sweet to Leo. Courting him with shiny trinkets and a rabbit. The flower crown. Awww. He was a good mate, always wanting Leo’s comfort above anything. Leo took to the dragon lifestyle like a duck to water. He was super accepting, almost unbelievably so. I guess once he saw his own scales, he really couldn’t deny who he was. Initially, I was mad because Leo has a 10 day heat and we only get to see his first day with Hallr. But boy, did the rest of the book make up for that. I quickly made peace with that gripe.
There were lots of underlying socio-political issues surrounding the dragon society. How they treated their Dettes, who owed a debt to other dens of dragons, a whole council of elders. This sets up several future storylines that I’d be interested in seeing pursued. We also meet quite a few other dragons and some were more likable than others. I really don’t see how we are supposed to have any love for the Loch den after we find out all the wrongs they committed against Leo. That whole den seemed predatory and gross, frankly.
My issues: The book committed several crimes against the editing gods. Like, a lot. Name switches, random capital letters throughout, quotations all over the place and worst of all, the constant perspective changes throughout the chapters. The chapters would say it was a Leo perspective chapter, but we’d get Hallr’s inner monologue. This was rampant throughout the book. The author has stated that they are aware of the editing issues and are working to correct them. One can only hope. Leo was referred to as “the ginger or “the Dette so many times. It wasn’t until late in the book that anyone really referred to him as Leo. This was annoying because it felt like Leo’s autonomy was being taken away. Like he wasn’t a person, just a nester to carry a clutch and then raise them, while not having his own say in things. I didn’t like that very well. Hallr was often referred to as “the Drake, as well. It was like they had names but no one wanted to use them.
I really enjoyed the overall story. I feel like a round with an editor and maybe a little fleshing out of ideas and concepts would have gone a long way towards helping the book. I’d absolutely read a second book in this series, simply for the concepts alone. I am interested in seeing where the author takes us in this universe. 3.5 round up to 4 stars.
The parallelisms to the Forbidden Desires series by Piper Scott were huge but as I loved them there already I enjoyed them here again. The writing style and I clicked much more and my biggest grievance here was the massive amount of side characters who I could not keep track of for the life of me.
What great stuff did this have? - Dragon Omega growing up as an orphaned human who has always only ever wanted a family <3 (p.12) - unaware dragon behavior (car runs on magic p. 72 and I understood why the brand wasn’t named for once which made me happy :))) & carries pillowcase of trinkets p. 14) - unaware courting acceptance of flowers and gold - heat - knotting - inner dragon voices - fated mates - humans being allowed to catch up with dragons feelings “I can’t wait to fall in love with you rather than the feelings being expected to materialise out of thin air - “eggnancy (p. 100) - omega dragon turns into real dragon ”I’ve been a manlet my entire life. I feel so tall and big! (P. 81) - Hoard bed ”It encompassed the best of both worlds–a cave, and a nest. (P.80) - Hoard Nesting - Egg Brain - In theory intercourse in dragon form but this was described on a dream plane it I understood correctly which I don’t quite get why
We didn’t really get to see their relationship develop enough but this sentiment was there: ”I’ll take care of you. I’ll keep you. You’re mine. Oh hells, Daddy Warbucks, if you keep talking stability and happiness like that, this little orphan Annie is going to explode. (P. 53)
Will continue reading series although blurb of next book is not where I was expecting this to go next :D

It wasn’t a baddd book, don’t get confused by the rating, but it was a pretty meh kind of book, the type of books you read and then forget about then next day, what was really unforgettable though, was the cover, I’m convinced the publisher hated this author, cause what is this travesty, if there was anything memorable, and trust me not in a good way, was the cover of the book.If you’re looking for a light, fast-paced almost stupidly dumb and easy book to read, be my guest and read this one.
This was a really great story. Nice world building without info dumping and the characters were really endearing. I really liked how fiery Leo was. It seems like these drakes need to get their acts together though in regards to the dettes. This will be a book I reread again and again. I'm already looking forward to it!
That was cute. I love the world building. The way they came together and their love. I love how one wasn’t week just because he was the egg bringer. I love the possessive love they had. The writing was great the smexy was HAWT and the side characters were cool
I really loved this dragon love story. Two amazing characters who are perfectly fated to meet. The secondary characters are also written well to each play their part in building a whole new world of dragons I loved. So many baby dragons, I loved that they each became a character in themselves.
I loved both Inner Demons and the Omegas of Club Despair so was looking forward to this series because who can resist dragons? Feisty Leo and lovable Hallr made this such a good beginning to the series. I felt for poor Leo at the beginning when his whole world crumbled around him. Seeing him come into his true self with Hallr was so rewarding, and he was so feisty and funny and took to being a 'kept' Dette in his own inimitable fashion. He made me laugh throughout, but he was absolutely adorable with his eggs. Hallr was respectful of Leo from the beginning, sweet and affectionate, loving Leo with everything he is and has. He and Leo were perfect for each other. There was world-building, dragon politics and hierarchy, lots of Drake chauvinism (not from Hallr, though), lots and lots of steam, knots, and heat, as advertised, and I loved most of it. I didn't like most of the Drakes' behaviour but that was the point, and I wished Hallr had been a bit stronger and not made any offers to placate anybody at the end. This was a great start and I'm looking forward to reading the next two books soon.
"Listen. Believe. “A dragon, a Drake, and you are a dragon, a Dette, a nester, Hallr said"
Leo grew up "in the system", he never knew his parents, meaning there's more than he ever could have imagined that he never knew about himself.
Hallr has kept to himself for years, doing his research, content to let others gather in dens... but that isn't the life he dreamed of.
This done in one kindle unlimited quick read centers on two characters, at different points in their lives, coming from different backgrounds, who both, on some level, dreamed of being part of a family, but never really saw themselves succeeding in creating one... until they found each other.
Well after the halfway point of the story is a series of scenes I adored. The dragon magic is present throughout this book, but later in the story it manifests, and is used in some charming and delightful ways, leaving me craving a bit of magic in my own world.
This is marked as book1, and I can't wait to see what the next book brings.
Great book to Read! This book was hard to put down. Hallr is a dragon drake alpha. Leo is a dragon dette, but does not know it. Leo loses his apartment and job all in the same day. Leo decides to go camping until he can figure out what is next. While camping Leo feels like he is being watched. Hallr is in the mountains tending to his garden of Nestblooms. Hallr is tring to bring the flowers back to life again, they were almost extinct. Hallr smells the sweet smell of a Dette and goes looking for him. Hallr sets down a flower and a coin to court the Dette. Leo does not know he is a dragon, he does not know where he comes from. The nestblooms work to help tone down the agressive nature of the drakes and helps the dette's become fertile. Will Leo find out where he came from and get the family he always wanted???? Will Hallr finally find what he is looking for ????/.

Delightful. Life is throwing a bag full of nails at Leo. He looses his home and his job through no fault of his own and he rapidly needs to adjust his life. He decides to spend his time regrouping, camping. He bought the necessary equipment to survive and followed his instincts to an infrequently visited area that just felt, right. He was alone, but he has always been alone. He grew up in the foster care system and never had a real family. He aged out and has always been on his own. While camping, he was unknowingly gently courted with gifts he could treasure by Hallr. Then Leo finds out all sorts of new delicious things about himself, his heritage and Hellr. Leo is a dragon! this is a fun story. Well written adventurous and HOT! Can Leo accept Hallr's offer? Can Leo accept being a dragon? Fun story. Well done! I loved this book. I've read other books by this author (demons and vampires), and as soon as I saw a series about dragons, I had to read it. Great world building and wonderful characters. This was such a sweet romance. Everything seemed to be going wrong for Leo after losing his apartment and job. He decided camping would be cheaper than a hotel, but little did he know how much that decision would change his life and he would discover what he really is. Leo and Hallr were the perfect couple. Hallr was so sweet and I loved how he courted Leo. I really enjoyed learning about the dragons as well, even if I didn't like some of their ways. I couldn't put this down and can't wait for the next book. 5 stars.
I enjoyed this story and the world the author is making. Some of it read more like a fact sheet than natural storytelling. I did find the way some of the paragraphs were written a bit confusing. Like say it starts out with character A say something and ends with character B saying something else but it would give no indication that the speaking character had changed. I had to reread multiple parts because of this. I liked the characters and I really liked their love for each other. They were very good for each other. And this may be an unpopular opinion but given how Leo's dette father was treated, I can see why he ran away and I hope he found happiness somewhere. It would be great to know.
OMG...I had soooooooooo much fun reading this omega/dette & alpha/drake romance. Just from the beginning with Leo cussing at his former neighbors...his loony former employer and his inner dialogue, I knew this was gonna be a good one...then he meets that big swede Hallr and OMG...fireworks. From then on, I couldn't put the book down...stayed up late to finish and I regret nuthin... Now I have read other Lilo Quie books in the past but this book right here...shows me their humor...LOL...so glad this was the introductory book to this series. Excited on what's next in the series...5STARS!!!

This one was fun. I enjoyed it very much. The world building is interesting, there were some good dangling threads for future stories. Most of the side characters were developed enough to be intrigung. I do wish there had been more grit and feels from Leo and Hallr, it felt too fluffy with little depth of emotion. But I was still thoroughly charmed. Does it totally feel like another version of the "forbidden desires" series? yes, but thats ok imo because you can't have too many M'eggs and baby dragon stories. I'm hoping for more in this series.
Deep in Dette is the first book in this series and follows fated dragon mates, Leo and Hallr. This book has everything you could need in a good story, great characters, high heat, all the feels, dragon shifters, and egg pregnancy. The book was well written and has good world-building, but it does take some time to get used to the titles used. I loved the adorable dragon babies. Overall it was a really good read and looking forward to reading more stories in the series.

If you love books about dragons finding mates, baby dragons hatching, lots of caretaking, and some humor, this definitely fits the bill. It was cute and enjoyable. I would have given it five stars if not for the deplorable lack of editing (the constant incorrect punctuation around dialogue tags and random capitalization got annoying), but the story itself was great.

There he is courted by Hallr. Hallr knows what Leo is going through and informs him. Leo is the one who insists on mating solely with Hallr. I really like how assertive Leo is when he wants and how protective Hallr is. Their mating produces a record number of babies and what looks like life changing news for dragons.
I the whole process of the eggs was so fun, from forming, laying, and hatching.
The characters were distinct and enjoyable to read. Solid dialogue.
I’ll definitely read the next book (:
The only complaint I have is the nickname that the main characters call each other sometimes.. I know it was referring to something in tv or books, bit I had no clue what it was referring to, so the nicknames were a little awkward for me.
I had a hard time with this one. I’m fine with 3rd person, but when you tell me whose 3rd person-pov the chapter is from and then it switches around without any notice it makes it really hard to follow.
I also felt like even with Hallr being the “woke-er dragon he still treated his Dette like a pet. Not a partner. Which, okay, you do you, but half the time Leo is strong and feisty and the other half they’re so happy he’s a simple animal.
This is a paranormal queer romance with mpreg, the first book in a series that should be read in order. What a fantastic start to a new series! You have Leo who doesn’t realize what he is and he’s having the worse luck. Leo heads into the forest on instinct and meets Hellr who explains what’s happening! This was a multilevel of storytelling with Leo/Hellr and then also meeting others. It’s a pretty interesting story and I definitely recommend it!
Unexpected and instant love, sass and two amazing characters. Fate working it's magic on two dragons in a way they couldn't ignore. Hallr and Leo introduce us to another series , coupled with secondary characters I hope to see in future books of the series.

¯\_()_/¯ idk how to rate this one. The pacing is inconsistent and the plot doesn’t really focus on anything serious long enough for it to actually make it a plot. It’s a lot of sex and dragon tropes masquerading as a romance novel. It was entertaining and definitely something you don’t need your brain for. But if it was trying to be a serious novel, then it missed the mark lol
I don’t even know where to start. This was a mess. Incoherent with new characters popping up at random times, I don’t know how I made it to the 36% mark. It’s a shame too, because I thought the premise showed great potential and it started off well enough.
Additionally, the artwork on the cover is just atrocious. It looks very outdated.
This was a new author for me and so enjoyed this Dragon tale very much. Leo was such a feisty little ginger. I liked the world the author created and am looking forward to reading more dragon books.
DNF at 70%. The writing style just doesn’t work for me, especially the dialogue. It’s overly formal and awkward. The emphasis on size and age difference made me feel squicky. YMMV and the story wasn’t bad.
This was a good interesting new read for me. I liked the new take on Drakes and Dettes, and I hope the author keeps writing more interesting perfect for each dated couples in this series especially in the other clans that wasn't in this book.
I enjoyed this book, it was interesting and fun. I felt like everything leading up to the end was drawn out nicely and then the end was rushed. I wish it had continued a little further, I’m wondering if the next book will follow the same couple?
The book was cute. You meet Leo who has just been evicted from his home and has no where else to go. Leo travels to a secluded place and then comes upon Hallr. Leo then learns a world that he never knew was possible and what it means to be a dette.
That was such a sweet romance with just the right amount of spice. I fully recommend! It's lovely to read something not full of strife and heartache for two thirds of the book
