Another exciting adventure from Rob Biddulph. Took a long while to get going - too much of the first book is regurgitated early on - but the second half was great fun and packed full of action. I think there are definitely still enough legs in Peanut and Co's story for another book or two. The language seemed more complex in this book, so maybe for a slightly older audience than it first appears.
(My kids absolutely loved it, I should say, it was just me that was a little bored with the overlong recap)

Honestly, these books are SO FUN. I love how the power of creativity is paired with friendship, love and justice. Peanut and her friends are so clever and I love how smart Little Bit is. Ron’s illustrations are exceptional - could stare at this for hours! I really appreciate how famous artworks are interspersed into this. There’s a brilliant battle between good and evil in this! Looking forward to reading the next one!

Aivan hyvä jatko-osa! Kroman vastarintaliike järjestää rivinsä ja lähtee taistoon vastustajaa vastaan, samalla Pähkinä kavereineen yrittää selvittää minne kuuluisat taideteokset katoilevat ja missä Comten lyijykynä luuraa.
Pidin ekasta osasta aivan valtavasti, tämä jäi vähän siitä jälkeen. Sotakuvasto oli paikoin aika hurjaa (aidonnäköiset tankit jne.) vaikkei veri lennäkään ja tunnelma oli aika ahdistava. Onneksi oli myös iloa ja huumoria.

Ich lese sehr gerne gemeinsam mit meinem Sohn Bücher, die viele Bilder haben und neben einer tollen Story auch etwas fürs Auge sind! Mit dieser Reihe rund um Peanut-Jones ist uns ein solcher Treffer gelungen und wir sind sehr froh diese fantasievolle Kinderbuchreihe entdeckt zu haben! Da uns der erste Band schon so gut gefallen hat, mussten wir auch unbedingt diesen zweiten lesen und wurden nicht enttäuscht-ganz im Gegenteil! Da der erste Teil nahtlos in den zweiten übergeht, ist es empfehlenswert diese Bücher in der richtigen Reihenfolge zu lesen- es würden einem aber sonst auch ganz zauberhafte Illustrationen entgehen wenn man den ersten Band auslässt!
Im zweiten Teil verschwinden überall auf der Welt berühmte Kunstwerke. Im einen Moment hängen sie noch in Museen, im nächsten Moment zerfallen sie zu Staub. Peanut, ihr Schulkamerad Rockwell und ihre kleine Schwester Little-Bit glauben, dass Mr. White, der Schurke aus der Stadt der Bilder, dahinterstecken könnte. Um zu verhindern, dass er dort alle Kreativität zerstört, macht sich das Trio auf den Weg zurück nach Chroma. Sie schließen sich dem Widerstand an, der Mr. White schon beobachtet. Warum reist er zu den zwölf Pforten am Rand der Stadt der Bilder? Und was hat es mit der mysteriösen zwölften Pforte auf sich?
Der Schreibstil war auch in diesem Band wieder absolut kindgerecht und flüssig zu lesen. Dadurch sind wir gut in der Handlung vorran gekommen und geradezu durch die Seiten geflogen. Innerhalb von zwei Tagen hatten wir dieses großartige Abenteuer durchgelesen, weil wir imnmer wissen wollten wie es weiter geht! Es geht humorvoll, spannend und sehr fantasievoll zu.
Peanut Jones muss man einfach gern haben und so sind uns die Protagonistin, ebenso wie ihre kleine Schwester Little-Bit und ihr Freund Rockwell ans Herz gewachsen. Wir konnten immer mit ihnen mifiebern und hatten gemeinsam mit ihnen viel Spaß bei diesem spannenden Abenteuer!
Ein Highlight haben auch dieses mal wieder die vielen atemberaubend-schönen Zeichnungen auf jeder Seite dargestellt. Sie haben perfekt zum Inhalt gepasst und sind wirklich für Klein und Groß ein absoluter Genuß und zum staunen!
Das Abenteuer war auch dieses mal wieder spannend, actionreich und fesselnd. Uns hat es sehr viel Spaß gemacht und wir kommen sehr gerne zum dritten Teil der Reihe wieder! Ein kleiner Cliffhanger findet sich auch diesmal am Ende, sodass wir kaum erwarten können weiterzulesen.

Magisch, bunt, spannend, wundervoll � eine geniale Fortsetzung
Peanut, Little-Bit und Rockwell finden auch ohne Plumbum einen Weg zurück nach Chroma. Sie gehen einfach durch die Pforte im Museum, durch die sie das letzte Mal zurück nach Haus gekommen sind. In Chroma herrscht noch immer Unruhe, weil der böse Mr. White alle Kreativität und alles Bunte aus der Stadt der Bilder ausradieren will. Doch es regt sich Widerstand, dem sich schließlich auch die Kids anschließen. Mr. White muss gefasst und eingesperrt werden. Doch das ist gar nicht so leicht, verschwindet der doch immer wieder durch alle möglichen Pforten in die reale Welt und radiert diese Pforten dann aus, so dass die Portale zerstört sind. Bis auf die zwölfte Pforte. Die Kids verfolgen Mr. White und so langsam beschleicht sie das Gefühl, dass das mysteriöse Verschwinden unbezahlbarer Kunstwerke aus allen möglichen Museen (sie zerfallen einfach zu Staub) auf dessen Kappe geht. Ein Grund mehr, ihn zu schnappen. Nebenbei sucht Peanut auch noch ihren Vater, der irgendwo in Chroma sein muss. Ob sie ihn finden, Mr. White schnappen und damit Chroma retten und das Geheimnis der zwölften Pforte lösen können?
Dieser Band 2 schließt nahtlos an Band 1 an und ich empfehle dringend, beide in der richtigen Reihenfolge zu lesen. Auch jetzt ziert das Cover wieder eine supertolle Zeichnung, die sofort Lust aufs Lesen macht. Kaum klappe ich das Buch auf, bin ich auch schon wieder mittendrin. Es gibt im ganzen Buch kaum eine Seite, die nicht irgendeine Illustration aufweist. Das ist so wundervoll, zumal die Zeichnungen in schwarz-weiß-grau-orange wieder mal echte Hingucker sind und mich die Geschichte gleich nochmal so intensiv erleben lassen. Die Story selbst ist spannend, fesselnd, sehr fantasievoll, die Charaktere einfach rundum liebenswert (bis auf die Bösen, versteht sich) und herrlich detailliert beschrieben. Eigentlich ist es eine Liebeserklärung an die Kunst, an die Kreativität. Verpackt in eine rasante, magische, spannende, actionreiche und fantasievolle Story. Ein Buch, dass ich kaum aus der Hand legen konnte. Nicht nur wegen des wirklich flüssig zu lesenden, anregenden Schreibstils, sondern natürlich auch wegen der Illustrationen. Beides zusammen macht einfach Spaß und aus diesem Buch mal wieder ein kleines Meisterwerk, wie ich es auch schon bei Band 1 genauso empfunden habe. 5/5 Sterne und eine Empfehlung an alle kleinen und großen Büchernarren, die spannende, magische, fantasievolle, actionreiche Abenteuergeschichten mögen.

In den zweiten Teil der Reihe rund um Peanut und die Rettung der geheimen Stadt Chroma lässt sich ohne Probleme starten. Die ersten Kapitel sind noch einmal mit den wichtigsten Infos des ersten Buches gespickt, ohne dass es wie ein großer Infodump wirkt, und man bekommt direkt Lust, zu erfahren, was einen diesmal an kreativ-kuriosen Dingen erwartet.
Schnell wird klar, dass hier auf jeden Fall eine größere Portion Action mit dabei ist, denn das Trio � Peanut, Rockwell und Little-Bit � starten nach einer ganz kurzen Einführung direkt wieder ins Abenteuer. Die Idee, dass die Zeit in Chroma schneller verläuft, trägt natürlich dazu bei, dass die Situation viel prekärer ist als am Ende des ersten Teils. Das ist eine sehr gute Spannungsgrundlage und man spürt direkt zu Beginn diese Zeitnot hinter dem ganzen Widerstand und die Befreiung von Chroma aus den fiesen Machenschaften von Mr. White wird immer dringender. Dadurch, dass man nun auch genau weiß, wer sich hinter Mr. White verbirgt, verlagert sich die Gefahr auch auf die „echte� Welt.
Insgesamt tragen wieder vor allem die Illustrationen dazu bei, dass die Szenen so schön wirken. Besonders die Verfolgungsjagd durch Paris und New York wurden dabei wunderbar bebildert und fangen die Spannung sowie den Charme der Städte gut ein. An wenigen Stellen fand ich die Schrift etwas zu dunkel für die dazugehörigen Bilder (oder umgekehrt), ansonsten harmonierten Bild- und Textebene toll miteinander.
Wie im ersten Teil merkt man auch wieder das hohe Maß an Kreativität, was in die Geschichte eingeflossen ist. Ich mag es sehr, dass vieles dadurch super abgedreht ist, aber gleichzeitig noch so einen Charme und Witz hat. Dieser Teil macht also genauso viel Spaß wie der vorherige.
Der angekündigte dritte und letzte Teil wird natürlich auch gelesen, jetzt wo Mr. White sein Ass im Ärmel enthüllt hat. Spannend ist, dass die Sache für Peanut jetzt noch einmal persönlicher wird, als sie eh schon ist. Ich freue mich schon sehr auf die vielen kreativen Einfälle im nächsten Buch!

I have really enjoyed this children's series so far. It's right up my street with the drawing element and I think all the characters are great. I did wonder if I could read this book first before the first one in the series (Illustrated City) but I soon found that it was A LOT better reading it in order. This book does a good job trying to explain everything for those who maybe decide to read them out of order, but for me, I'm very glad I decided to wait for the first one to start reading before this one. If I'd not read them one after the other then I think the brief explanations would've been useful as reminders only, but not reliable enough to "fill me in on what I'd missed", you know?
I love the illustrations, although I wonder how this book would be as an audio because there was one point where they put a puzzle together and the answer is revealed when you turn the page and look at the illustration, but the words themselves never described what you could see? Well, at least not straight away, you'd probably gather after a paragraph or 2 what it was.
I look forward to the new one coming out in September and I feel the little reminders of characters or what happened in the last 2 books will definitely come in handy when I've had to wait over 6 months!

I couldn’t wait to read the sequel about Peanut Jones. I’m absolutely delighted with the cover, just like the first book. And I don’t even need to mention the illustrations inside the book—every page is beautifully illustrated, and it’s so easy to imagine that marvelous world.
Last time, Peanut returned without her tail from Crome. And she still couldn’t find her dad. This time, important works of art suddenly turn to dust. Peanut immediately realizes that this must be connected to the evil Mr. White. The girl embarks on a new adventure with her sister Liliput and her friend Rockwell.
This story is full of fascinating events and imaginative details that would captivate all children, and adults too. I highly recommend both books—they are perfect!

I really enjoy these books - the illustrations are especially fantastic and there are a generous amount of them. However the pictures definitely are compensating for something lacking in the story telling.
The characters are very 2D, there are a lot of cliche moments and turns of phrases which makes reading kind of dull at points. The comedy is a bit hit and miss.
However that is me being a harsh judge. I do really enjoy these and i will very likely buy the third one.

This was more detailed than the first book and was definitely more in-depth. I enjoyed it so much and just could not put it down. The details in this book was outstanding. Major cliffhanger at the end to the point where I was ready to throw it across the room......haha. Outstanding book and definitely one of my favourites this year. I devoured this in one day and can't wait for the sequel.

Another fun, and beautifully illustrated book, in an adventure series about the power of art! A fast-moving tale following the adventures of Peanut and friends, my daughter has demanded that I read the whole trilogy because she has enjoyed them so much, and now I’ll have to read the 3rd instalment immediately!

A fun middle grade adventure following Peanut Jones as she battles to try to save Chroma from the evil Mr White. It was really enjoyable, I love the orange and black colour pallette of the illustrations and the characters are all so loveable.
If you loved Penny Crayon as a kid (showing my age) then you will love this book version.

Finished this one in a day! I couldn't put it down. I love the way that Peanut, LB and Rockwell have such a great friendship. The ending was a nailbiter! The illustrations are stunning and really help with telling the story. Looking forward to book 3!

I read this to my six year old son and he rated it five stars. I agree. This is a great book. I look forward to the third.

This was the best book I’ve ever read in my life. It had lots and lots of cliffhangers, lots of exciting moments and funny moments. I could read it every day!
