ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR

Theodric, the God of War, has a talent for inciting conflict and bloodshed. Or he did—before his powers were stripped away. Eager to prove himself worthy of redemption, he sets out to instigate a mortal war.

Everything is going according to plan until she shows up

Cassia isn’t the only one in the mortal world to think the gods and goddesses are a myth. Cast out and orphaned during the war, she has no time for legends. Unfortunately, the religious zealots think she’ll make the perfect sacrificial bride.
Imagine her surprise when the God of War looms over her with a sword

With Theodric sworn to never accept a bride and Cassia disinterested in saving her country, it should be easy enough to keep their hands to themselves.

But fate has other plans.

“Tell me I’m dreaming. Tell me it isn’t true. Tell me and I’ll believe it.

This is my first eARC and I’m so happy I got to read it! This is a modern mythological story of Theo, the God of War and Cassia, a mortal. If your brain is like mine and it immediately jumps to Ancient Greece or Rome, stop it! There is something special about the God of War in jeans. Just picture it.

“War involves layers and layers of deceit.

In a chance encounter, Theo spots Cassia and is immediately drawn to her. By a chain of events, Cassia ends up in Theo’s house as his unwilling bride. On the other hand, Theo just can’t seem to let her go, and of course, he must protect his girl. Now add in Theo’s meddling siblings with their hidden agendas, a war that Theo refuses to end, cities that are being destroyed, Cassia’s own turmoil, the increasing steamy sexual tension and Theo’s desire to bed Cassia even though that will ruin hundreds of years worth of planning to regain his powers, and you end up with one fantastic story!

“I curse our clothes.

The world building is great and to the point, it really allows you to get absorbed in it without being too wordy. Each character has their own unique personality and purpose and none are very upfront about their true intentions. I found myself asking, “what are they up to. Being completely suspicious of all the siblings and trying to figure out who the true villain was. I was rooting for Theo the whole time. He’s the black sheep of his siblings even though he tries to do good in his own way.

“As soon as our eyes lock I see my lust reflected back at me, and that’s all I need—permission and desire.

I’m hoping for more books on the other characters. I need to know more about Cy and Astra! And Leander! My heart went out for Leander, God of Death. He needs his Persephone! Overall, this was a fun read with an amazing set of characters. The only downside is that it ended, and I need more.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

The God of war, Theo, is so yummy!! I loved what gradually developed between him and Cassia. It was mostly heated and passionate, until it became very romantic. But a lot happens in between

I’m not going to say too much, because this is definitely something you should experience without spoilers. But if you love mythology, this book is full of it! And the take Duell wrote on the gods is so awesome! I loved it! I want to spill everything, because I’m dying to tell everyone all about it, but I will be good. Haha!

These characters are written so well, the gods have family issues that are layers upon layers. Cassia’s whole life was ripped apart in the war, and she has layers of issues. They were written so well that you really felt, especially for Cassia. She was definitely my favorite character. Theo was the yummiest! But Cassia is a very special, strong individual and she goes through one thing after another and handles is like a champ!!

The world building is pretty awesome too! You have the world at war, but then you have the world of the gods, going from one temple to the next. Also the gods can appear in the world, which is pretty cool.

There’s a lot of really cool concepts in this story. There’s action, deceit, passion and love. It’s so good, YOU HAVE TO READ IT!! Ha! If you like Mythology, Passion and Romance, plus action and shocking twists and turns, then you will love this book!!

This was a blend of mythology meets dystopia and it worked together beautifully!!

I loved Theo as the god of war. He was all broody and snarky and off course had abs for days. I enjoyed that there was emphasis on his role as a good and the things he did behind the scenes as well as his time with Cassia. While reading Theo provides so much insight into the plot from his vantage point as the god of war.

Cassia is sassy and determined, which I loved! She is left without parents and her brother which makes life for her lonely. Her actions and reactions to being with Theo were entertaining!! I loved that we were able to see Cassia as someone who was struggling but also as a woman who was a survivor no matter what realm she was in.

The storyline of this book is done seamlessly! While it may not be clear right away, the pieces to the story are perfectly interwoven and by the end will have you speechless!!

I’m trying to get myself together and write a cohesive review for this book, but it’s hard. This book was chefs kiss 😚. The setting is a war torn mortal world where our female main character resides. Our male main character is none other than the God of War. Cassia unfortunately gets swept up by religious zealots, sacrificed and thrown into a pit for our MMC. Cue the banter, the sass from our female lead, intrigue among the other gods, and the spice. Super readable, characters are likeable and flawed (but you root for them), ugh I loved it and stayed up so late.

(I did receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Greek Mythology set in a dystopian future = perfect unexpected pairing. Even the beginning of the book sets the scene so perfectly. Ms. Duell is a talented writer painting perfect scenes through words that move and transport. Power struggles, unexpected navigation, and a love story. Even the title plays into the story line so well. Theodric is every woman’s bad boy and Theo in jeans well. You’ll see. Cassia wasn’t the only one falling hard. Looking for a new book boyfriend? You may just find him in Theo - I know I did.

I absolutely love this book from the cover to the world and character building to the plot and the writing. I found this author on Tiktok and signed up to read an ARC of this book and I'm glad that I did. I love Theo and Cassia. I think they are a perfect pair. I love the conflict between the family and the fight in both of them. The author really brought these characters to life and I am here for it. I can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend reading.

Who knew i need a blend of Dystopian style retelling of modern mythological Goddess and Goddess. This story follows God of War (Theo)and a human (Cassia) this duel POV. When i say i couldnt put this down i mean it. This story is full of lies, deceits and betrayals, along with some very good spicy scene. My favorite in this book tho was the god of Death(Leander), why idk they just something about him im hoping to get more of. This 18+ you wont regret reading.

I don't even know where to start! This was such a great read. I read it in about a day. I wouldn't call it an insta-love story, but I absolutely loved the attraction they both had in the beginning. This is more of an enemies to lovers with fighting the attraction. The amount of spice was perfect and fit well with the plot. I'm super interested in the other siblings, and I can't wait to see whose book is coming next!

Tropes: enemies to lovers, touch her a die, gods, dark, fantasy,
Spice: 2/5
Plot: 5/5

I loved it!

This is such a sweet story ☺️ I definitely recommend it! It's basically a Greek mythology retelling so the gods/goddesses have different names but it's about the same theme and it's on earth but the names of the places are different. I liked it. The story was well written and the characters were great!

The blending of modern day, Greek mythology, and dytopian is out of this park, amazing. I adored Theo and Cassia and the gradually budding relationship between the two. I look forward to what this author writes next!

DNF at 20%. Not sure what version of this book I was reading. It says this book has been published as an adult version at a later time. Either way I wasn't much interested in the plot, storyline or world building.
