1. A Lady's Quest by Bonnie Hamre In A Lady's Quest, author Bonnie Hamre brings you a London historical where Lady Antonia Blair-Sutworth searches for a lover in a way that is sure to shock and please the reader.
2. The Spinner's Dream by Alice Gaines The Spinner's Dream weaves a seductive fantasy that will leave every woman wishing for her own private love slave, desperate and running for his life.
3. The Gift by Jeanie Legendre With The Gift you are immersed in the historic tale of exotic seduction and bondage of a concubine's surrender to the Sultan's desires.
4. The Proposal by Ivy Landon Take a read on the wild side of love. The Proposal will taunt you, tease you, and shock you. A contemporary erotica for the adventurous woman.
Strong, independent women, and the clever men who capture their imaginations, and their hearts.
A Lady's Quest by Bonnie Hamre An unusual take on the Duke-seeks-bride story. Historical romance meets modern prenuptial agreement to mutual satisfaction. Did I skim? No Will I re-read? Assuredly. While I'm at it, I'll browse the author's back list. The Spinner's Dream by Alice Gaines A complex situation rendered simple by faith, trust, and love. Did in skim? No Will I re-read? Yes. Sooner rather than later. The Gift by Jeanie LeGendre The idea behind the story exceeded the story itself. Some vivid imagery was obscured by extraneous words. Did I skim? Nope Will I re-read? Probably The Proposal by Ivy Landon The story sizzled, experenencial contemporary chick lit at its best. Dd I skim? Not even! Will I re-read? In a heart beat.
"A Lady's Quest" - Bonnie Hamre An woman-empowering plot but I personally don't like the period setting. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be humorous - I laughed when Lady Antonia questions "Would she need to change the furnishings?"
"The Spinner's Dream" - Alice Gaines I liked this one, mainly because with the fantasy setting the reader must guess how gender dynamics operate in this make-believe world. The drawback is that the story is too brief. The characters hint at some kind of complexity ("she hading begun to explore her inner life, the hungers and failings that had brought her here") but there's not enough interaction/dialogue to amplify on this.
"The Gift" - Jeanie LeGendre The harem setting - what an overdone theme. Nothing positive to say about this one.
I liked this book a lot. I bought it back in 2009 and have re-read it a number of times. I havent looked at the other Secrets books yet but I have my eye on them..lol..
"The Lady's Quest" - 4 stars. Perhaps this story deserves 4.5 stars, but, although the love scenes are so hot they sizzle, the so called "quest" of the heroine seemed a bit to much. Choosing as a lover a man you don't even see just to forget about a man you're falling for but you reject because you're afraid to lose your independence after marriage? And the hero's insistence that she become his mistress without the slightest encouragement form her part (they don't even kiss) doesn't really fit with what is revealed about his character. They seem to react in a certain way only because the author wishes it so. Only the exquisite lovemaking and sexual tension redeems this story.
"The Spinner's Dream" - 4 stars. A sweet story. The couple - a kind of gigolo-slave who's on the run and a ruined priestess who clings to her beliefs, are quite unique. In fact, I think this story is too small for them. They are not fully developed or explored. I sense interesting depths in them.
"The Gift" (- 4 stars) explores the harem fantasy, where the beautiful heroine, innocent but intelligent and strong, conquers the heart of the seductive Sultan. A nice reading.
"The Proposal" - I must give this one 5 stars. It's a wicked story of erotic discovery for the heroine and sexual as well as emotional fulfillment for the hero. I'll let you discover the rest...
I quite enjoyed this first installment of the Secrets series. All four stories were very readable...
"A Lady's Quest" - Bonnie Hamre - This is my favorite of the four. I really liked our heroine, and our hero, there was a bit of a trick, but you saw it coming, and it wasn't a force yourself on her type of story. Nice.
"The Spinner's Dream" - Alice Gaines - my least favorite, if I have to have one. It read really fast, and I liked the different world story. It was more romance than erotica, which I suppose is okay :-)
"The Gift" - Jeanie LeGendre - what Arabian Nights could have been had our heroine been trying to save her virginity instead of her life. I liked it -- but it only makes it as #3, because the first and last stories were that good.
"The Proposal" - Ivy Landon - yes, the proposal is what you expect, and more -- two different proposals really. Enjoyable and erotic, and my second favorite story. A story for the subservients out there :-)

So far I've read the first two stories in this anthology, but I left it behind when I left on a trip, so will resume it after my return. Starting it again on November 21st. No great shakes. As I read it in tiny increments, the anthology aspect didn't irritate me as much as is often the case. I found these fairly uneven though.
