RAJMUND GREGOR is a vampire . . . and the undisputed Master of New York City. He bows to no one but his Sire, Krystof, who is the Vampire Lord for the entire Northeastern U.S. Based in Buffalo, NY, Krystof is an old vampire-too old, it would seem, because he’s slowly losing his mind. Summoned back to Buffalo by his Sire, Rajmund finds his master out of touch and rapidly weakening. He knows the territory will crumble if something isn’t done, and he’s the only one of Krystof’s children strong enough to seize power. But there’s also the matter of some missing women and a rogue vampire who seems to be moving in for the kill.

SARAH STRATTON has a secret, one she’s never shared with anyone–—at least not anyone who knows her now, not even her good friend Cyn. It’s a secret that could destroy her carefully constructed life, but it’s one she may have to share with a vampire, if she’s going to save the lives of the missing women.

3 Raj is a dumbass and Sarah a Doormat Stars

first read March 2014
Reread April 2019

There will be spoilers

I'm going to try to keep this review short and to the point. Rajmund is my least liked book of the whole series. Raj was a big jackass, and I didn't care for him. He wanted a simple, subservient, meek woman. He acted like a little bitch that couldn't make up his mind. He wanted Sarah, no wait he can't have her. She is to much trouble and a weakness, No she is his, and he will have her! No he will push her away for her own good, of course! Silly weak women never know what they really want, or need. No I will take her a make her my mate. Well I'm scared now because I almost lost her, so now I'm going to leave her again. After all being a vampire lord is hard work, and I will be way to busy for a mate. That was Raj the whole book, and it pissed me the hell off and made me want to punch him in the nuts.

I loved Sarah, but God bless her soul she was weak. She just kept coming back to jackass Raj, no matter how many times he tossed her away. This book would have got 5 stars from me if Sarah would have told Raj to kiss her ass, and found someone that wasn't gonna blow hot and cold like a Katy Perry song. Even though I liked Sarah she needed a back bone. And maybe not to hold onto secrets that could have saved lives for so damn long. I get her past was painful, but she had Cyn now, and she could have turned to jackass for help. Overall this book made me want to shake Sarah, tell her to grow some lady balls, and kick Raj in his. Glad it's over, now I'm on to the next book.

A pretty good story, nothing to be really giddy about but good enough to be glad I read it.

There were stuff that annoyed me, sometimes the heroin was an idiot (and you know how much I hate idiots) but well, the vamp was pretty cool and he made up for the sometimes stupid female.
Although I admit, I liked her a few times. Gah, I can't make up my mind, dunno if I liked her or not!

Another thing I can't decide about is the cliffhanger at the end. Dunno if it made me curious about the next book or if it just made a poor ending for this one.
Guess you have to read this one and tell me.

I. Love. This. Series...

And honestly, this is a great book. A fantastic addition to the series, and a more in depth look at this incredible world and its hierarchy. If the romance between Raj and Sarah had been more on than off, I'd have given this story 5 stars, without hesitation.

Blurb...

Meh. It's just ok.

There is not enough romantic relationship developed here to make it interesting as a romance book. It was superficial and barely there.
What is more, the plot driving the vampire storyline could have been good if the male and female protagonists had actually some initiative in their personalities and did something, instead of being so gutless and wanting for things to happen or simply following orders. I think this lack of driving force in their natures made me lose interest in them and consequently, in the rest of the story bit by bit. I didn't connect to them as characters, nor as a romantic couple. I couldn't even like them either, since both of them had the power and resources to have been more active and decisive. Instead they acted like weak and coward people that couldn't make their own decisions or have their own motivations. They couldn't even be nice to each other. So nothing there to like.
In the end, without strong leading characters, the plot felt short and lost relevance and meaning. I couldn't care for it any more.

Overall, I found the book quite disappointed in comparison to the first two installments of the series.

It was tough to figure out who I hated more in this book. It was almost a toss-up, but the heroine, Sarah, ended up winning. She was not only a total idiot, but she was a groveling idiot. The main guy, Raj, kept dumping her - over and over again - and yet she kept pretty much begging him to be with her.

This is about how attractive a girl who begs for a guy's attention is to him..

Girls, if you have to beg a guy to be with you, you need to hit yourself over the head with a blunt object until you get a grip and dump that jerk. Better yet, use that blunt object on HIM, and get a dog instead. They are loyal. They won't screw you over. The worst thing they will do to you is chew up a shoe or something. You can buy a new shoe, but you can't buy a thing called self-respect.

Okay, there are some exceptions, but I bet this is a MALE dog!

Sarah is all kinds of screwed up and has moved from a place with the best weather on Earth to a place where she will be need to dig her way out of snow to get to work each day because that will help her depression...

Yeah, not a fan myself..

I was born and raised in California, had my kids in Arizona, and moved to Texas. Me and "the cold" don't have a working relationship. The only sweaters and jackets I own are strictly ornamental, and even then, barely used.

They sing country music instead of musical theater.

So, Sarah the Dumbass waffles back and forth from being a damsel in distress to being an idiot who runs headlong into dangerous situations because she has delusions of thinking she's NOT a dumbass damsel.

She's a damsel that NOBODY wants.

Raj, her vampire love, isn't a jewel himself. I thought he was pretty nice at first, but he lost me when he called Sarah a "bitch in heat" at one point because she was drunk on vampire pheromones. He also tossed her out more often than college kid with a ping pong ball. With her limited brain-power, this confused her.

Focus, Sarah! When he said to go away and have a nice life, he meant without him in it.

There were other characters that I liked in the book, and the story was pretty decent, but I am happy to go on to a new couple in the next book.

I really liked Raj.

However, the story lacked several thing. And it had things I hate like misunderstandings and interruptions as conflict.

Unfortunately the author didn't sell me on why Sarah didn't tell Raj about her dreams. This is life or death. As Raj is a vampire why wouldn't he believe in the supernatural. Secondly why Raj didn't just get the answers he needed. I get that he wanted consent but again it was life or death.

Also, we were told way too late that Raj felt Sarah was overly affected by fermions. I never got why he held back. When we are told, it's as if we should have known all along and isn't quite explained.

Another thing, the author hinted as if vampires have mates much like shifters where a match is out there above just common attraction. Something predestined and supernatural. But the author never confirmed that.

I also felt the ending was off. Sarah left. Where did she go? What did she do? Then she was back and everything was okay.

Overall, the plot and its execution was lacking. However the characters themselves saved the story from being less stars.

This wasn't a bad book, I just liked the first two books better because I like the leads more. The leads in this one each annoyed me. The heroine kept secrets too long and acted TSTL sometimes, while the hero pushed the heroine away for too long. The story itself was decent.

I didn't enjoy this book that much. I found Sarah stupid really, hiding who she was, being TSTL(too stupid to live) by going up against a vampire, blood-house and doing things when she was told it wasn't safe. I mean she acted like a child and had this attitude I'll do what I want to do. The hero was okay. Overall the story didn't work that well for me. Average.

Do you know what makes me go ballistic? Sarahs of the world. Main twat or heroine whatever in this book was stupid, selfish, felt herself entitled while going on a pity party, weak and fake polite. Of course all the while everyone else was busy with with reassuring her how courageous and clever and loyal she was. Reading this book with her whiny voice in my head was a special kind of torture. I am done with this series and probably author also.

I would have given the book five stars if it wasn't for the fact that I found the heroine a little on the annoying side. One she kept referring to herself as being shorter than everyone and the author kept stressing her shortness but at 5'4" she is actually average height. The heroine came across as someone with self esteem issue which kind of threw me since Cyn, from Raphael was such a strong, together character. I mean I didn't want the characters to be the same but I wish the heroine had a little more confidence in herself and didn't envy others so much. Another thing, I felt in the begining the atraction between the two was a little forced. I think if the author would have continued the story leaving out the mental sex scene in begining of the story the attraction between the two would have developed naturally as it did when you continued to read the novel. I also don't feel like she was much help in finding the missing girls since she spent most of the book hiding who she was. The only saving grace was Rajmund and his children. I found his relationship with them to be the most interesting part of the book. I mean towards the end I didn't even care if they ever found the missing girls and by the middle of the book I already new who did it. I think the book should have stuck more to the conflict between Rajmund and his maker. All in all I found the book to be good not great. I could read Raphael over and over. I really can't say the same for this book.

First, I don't consider it a spoiler to warn that this book has a cliffhanger. The main story is complete, so it's not the most annoying kind, but it still leaves you hanging.

In Cyn teased her friend Sarah because she was leaving California to work as a professor in Buffalo, NY. Rajmund starts with Sarah's nightmare of a kidnapped girl. When Cyn forces her to come with her and Raphael to New York, she meets Rajmund, a powerful lieutenant of the Northeastern Vampire Lord Krystof. When she is back the nightmares start again. Obviously someone is kidnapping the girls in Buffalo and Rajmund is called to deal with it. There are tons of other things I left out which makes this story truly great. The characters are new, I wasn't waiting for their story the way I am eager to read Duncan's, but it is a good story.

However, I did not really like the characters, especially Sarah . I may be wrong but I got the feeling that she was comparing everything to Cyn's situation. It wasn't open, more like Oh, Cyn has it. I want it too.. As I said, I may be wrong, but I did not like her.

I prefer when I like characters' names. Rajmund is not exactly a great name. Since that is a matter of personal preference, it didn't influence my opinion of the book.

Rajmund is the epitome of what a hero should be. He has such confidence in himself that there is no need for cockiness so often found in the typical alpha male hero in the majority of paranormal romance. He simply knows his abilities and cares for his people. When the book opens, he is not the master of his territory. But he and Raphael both know a showdown is looming, and they both know Rajmund will be the one to come out on top.

He meets Sarah when the two master vamps meet up. Cyn and Sarah are friends, and the attraction between Sarah and Rajmund is instant. But it's not a seedy, bow chicka wow wow type lustfest. The sexual tension is thick, and lasts for a veeery long time. The sexual payoff, however, is worth it. Hot damn, can Ms. Reynolds write a love scene!

This series is simply amazing. It's so wonderfully original, I forget about all of the other myriad vampire series out there. While I'm reading these, its as if I've never read pnr, and it's like tasting chocolate for the first time. I am in love with Vampires in America. And though I loved Raphael, Rajmund is absolutely going onto my 'favorite heroes' shelf. He's drool-worthy, loyal to the core, and strong enough to stand beside Bones and Barrons, in my book.

**3.5 stars**

God, I just love this series! D.B. Reynolds is just on point with her writing. I could read her stuff all day and all night and not get sick of her stories.

I think the best part about this author is that she doesn't shy away from showing how vampires can be brutal. They don't release their enemies, they freakin' rip their heads off! These aren't squishy, fluffy vampires and I'm growing to love that more and more.

The only reason this isn't a solid 4 stars or higher is because Sarah is waaaay TSTL. She throws herself into danger over and over and I wasn't into her at all. I did, however, love Rajmund and his second in command, Emelie. I also loved the sexual tension- this author made us wait and I adored her for it!

All in all, despite its flaws, this book made me love this series even more because it showed how consistent this author can be. I'm going right on to the 4th in the series!

It's been so long since I've started this series...
And of course, I instantly loved Raphael and Cyn that were featured in the first two books.

So, how I came to read this third book all of sudden...I don't know, really. LOL

I was actually in the middle of doing smth else and I just ended up, reading this through the night...well, i work in mysterious ways as well, apparently

Anyway, this was an okay erad for me, I love vamps, duh?!

And since my fave couple ever (Suzanne Wright's Sam and Jared) I had trouble of finding the next one, well Raphael and Cyn came pretty close, and Rajmund and Sarah are just fun to have around in the fictional world *wink*

But since, this one ends in a cliffy I wan't aware of...LOL, and it concernes Raphael and Cyn, now I am intrigued into following to see what the fuck happened...

Spoilers ahead

Sigh unfortunately this one was a miss for me

We get a new couple here Cyn's friend Sarah and Raj who's the second of his sire.
Females who've been to a vampire party are disappearing, when the daughter of a powerful man is taken the police are mobilized to act more and the vampires are questioned. Raj's sire summons him to assist the police and get to the bottom of the situation as vampires are implicated in the mess. Raj first met Sarah when she came to Manhattan with Cyn and though they were attracted to each other and got close they stopped. He bumps into her again at the police station and is once again captivated by her but also determined to find out what secrets she's hiding. In addition to solving the crimes and ferretting out Sarah's secret Raj must also defeat his master who is losing his mind.

Sarah I think I hated a bit because she tried to ignore her dreams and this meant the kidnapped girls suffered a lot longer than they should have. I understood that her parents actions when she was a teen had her afraid to come forward but her friend was mated to a powerful fricken Vampire! I'd think someone would believe that she was dreaming the kidnapped girls. I hated how long it takes to get her to even acknowledge the importance of the dreams especially as we get the pic of one of the kidnapped girls

Raj seemed more ambitious than in love, he pulled away from Sarah a couple times even erasing her memory one night and sending her away as he tried to hold his new territory. Maybe he was trying to keep her safe but the little glimpses of Raphael and Cyn and their sweet connection just made the lack of that deep bond between Sarah and Raj more evident. To Raj's credit however, he was able to separate the sex from feeding so he didn't have sex with OW at least from the parts I skimmed.

I skimmed through half of this book finding it slow and a bit boring, considering the ending though I've already started the next!

While everybody liked this book the most, I found it lacking.

I'm sorry but I didn't like any of the main characters. I stilled loved the plot, the way the story was written and everything else, but Rajmund and Sarah constantly pissed me off.
Sarah was this weak heroine, a school teacher who wasn't strong enough to do anything by herself. What's worst is that she tried, several times to show everybody else she wasn't like that and she just made EVERYTHING worse, EVERY TIME. I didn't like her at all. Then Rajmund wasn't that bad but after reading about Raphael (2 WHOLE books about him) I couldn't be that impressed by Rajmund. Also the chemistry between this 2 wasn't that good. There was definitely lust but IMHO they didn't make a good couple. And it just took them FOREVER to get together and then it just felt rushed.

The plot was good though, One of the 8 Lords going crazy and needing a replacement. I liked that. It wasn't a bad read, just not as good as the first 2. Let's hope the rest are better.

Our Sarah and Raj:

Maru: Hallo Peeps! We know you can´t get enough of our reviews...so here we are yet again. Aly, you there? Ready to kick some review butt?
Aly: Yes! Maru, what did you think of Buffalo, NY?
Maru: Boring until Raj gets there. You?
Aly: Very strange name for a city :)). But as you said, when Raj gets there, interesting things start to happen
Maru: Yes, creepy things were happening, but Raj gets there and everything got SUPER interesting. What did you think of Sarah´s story?
Aly: Weird. Can't make up my mind if it was in a good or a bad way...
Maru: Yeah me too, it was like you won´t tell the truth even to Cyn...who happens to be your BFF?
What about Raj?? Thoughts on him?
Aly: Big, sexy and very lovable. I think that covers everything :))
Maru: I think this gif, kinda says it all for me

or maybe this one

Aly: Visual, I like it!
Maru: Now, for the story? What did you think of it?
Aly: And yes, both of them sum it up nicely. It was ok, I loved the vamp posturing and that we got to see Cyn and Raphael. I always love it when authors give us glimpses of past characters. I didn't like the Kristof dude at all; he was so out of it and weak
Maru: Yeah me too, I think it worked very well too for the world building like in every book she adds something and it´s not super out the blue. Yeah!! Dude die already!!
Aly: :)) He just didn't know when to give it up already! The same for the sleazy con man, Blackwood or what's his name. He was an ass!
Maru: Yes! Woman it´s like you´re reading my mind!
Aly: The way he profited of the poor kidnapped girl and Sarah... I have no good insults for that.
Maru: Me either...I think he doesn´t deserve more time in our review. Let´s talk about something that does: THE STEAMY SCENES
Aly: Nymphomaniac you :))
Maru: Me?? pleahhsee
Aly: I have to say that I loved the sexual tension more than the actual sex
Maru: Oh my god. It was awesome!!! Since the scenes in books 1 and 2 weren´t WOW I had my concerns.
Aly: Raj was really good at what he was doing =))
Maru: But good Lord...I want a Raj!
Aly: Down girl! What was your favorite scene?
Maru: Mmm...the last scene was great and then I think their first kiss was cute. Oh wait! The shower scene!!
Aly: *rolling eyes*
Maru: You?
Aly: Last scene. It was sweet and I just couldn't wait to see how the author would resolve it.
Maru: Yep. Wait...what about the epilogue!?!?!?
Aly: I was open-mouthed when I read it! And almost had a heart attack :)) I had to start the next book to see what happened

Maru: Me too!! I was like yay more Raj and Sarah, and I was super surprised!! WTF?? I think we should totally start book 4
Aly: We can't :)) Wait a little longer, will you?
Maru: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok....but let´s hurry with whatever we are reading. Anything else to discuss?? Side characters you liked?
Aly: Em! She was crazy and loyal and smart and totally badass! You?
Maru: Em too!! I really liked her loyalty and how she teased Raj and he would get all like remember I´m your Master
Aly: She had some of the best lines.
Maru: And she would be oh, whatever...sorry master.
Aly: He had to say something :))
Maru: Agreed.
Aly: I think that covers everything, and we managed not to give spoilers too :))
Maru: Yeah...well except...PEOPLE EXPECT AMAZING STEAMY SCENES
Aly: And a great story =))
Maru: Until next time minions!!! Thanks Aly for your time and snark.

Right now I'm like....

Or...

Because...

Now that I got that out of my system...

SPOILERS

This is the story of Raj...(no drooling on your screens pls):p

And Sarah...

Sarah has been protecting her secrets her whole adult life but now they have come back to haunt her and she has to decide what is more important, keeping them or saving a young woman's life? Raj is a powerful Vampire with aspirations at becoming the Lord of his Sir's territory after the recent deterioration of Krystof's power. Although he never was power hungry he understand the need for a competent ruler among his people and he isn't willing to bow to anyone again. When his master calls him home(Buffalo) from Mahattan, which is his territory, he knows that the time has probably come to face his Sir one last time. Sarah and Raj will work together in searching for 4 kidnapped women and although the sexual tention and growing feelings between them will keep growing, the lies and lack of trust will drive them apart. Can they overcome their problems and be together?

Let me begin by saying that I haven't disliked a heroine as much in a very long time. Sarah is weak in every meaning of the word. She has no backbone to speak of and the only time she discovers her little determination is to make a mess! I found her stupid at times , naive almost all the time and a pain in the ass when she had no reason to be. I seriously can't get over the fact that the same author who created a badass heroine like Cyn also created this one.

But then we have Rajmund. I loved this guy. Other than the usual "she would be better without me in her life" the guy is a serius badass! He is confident but not too arrogant, funny, hot, loyal, so what's not to like in a guy like this? His one fault is that he liked Sarah in the first place!

I loved Emelie. The girl was awesome. I wish Raj was with her and not that idiot Sarah. A pity she is a lesbian and we won't have her story!:(

The story was exciting enough to keep me glued to the pages even though I hated the heroine so there had to be something good there.

We only saw Cyn and Raphael a little bit at the beginning and then just enough to give us a slap and end the book. After reading about Sarah I thought about taking a break from the series if the next heroine is as bad as this one but the cliffhanger in the end took care of that!;)

Let's hope Sophia is made of better stuff!*fingers crossed*

I listened to this audio today after reading the story two years ago. Although I thought the narrator could have done a bit better with Rajmund's voice, the story was awesome as it was reading it. I definitely recommend this entire series to anyone looking for a paranormal romance of the vampire variety.

Rajmund (Raj) Gregor is the Master of New York City, and is finally ready to overthrow his Sire, the Vampire Lord of the entire Northeastern US, but taking power is never an easy thing, and Raj will have to also deal with the issue of some missing women and a rogue vampire who seems to be moving in for the kill, one who has the human police focused on Raj's kind.

Sarah Stratton (a good friend of Cyn - book 1) is one woman with a lot of secrets that she has never revealed to anyone, but as more women going missing and she finds herself more and more entangled with vampires, her very carefully constructed life seems to unravel - she either runs and hides or trusts Raj (both options hold danger).

This was a nice read, but there was a undercurrent of danger and energy missing. There were moments where Raj annoyed me a tad, for example , luckily it didn't get too irritating.

I wish Sarah had been a tad more ferocious and had made .

RTC Review below but do we find out why there was is that answered in the next book?

_____________

This was a really enjoyable book. I've been having a problem the past few months where books aren't keeping my interest and/or the writing isn't face paced or my type. Anyways this one was.

I pretty much went blind into this book. I didn't read the synopsis and I couldn't really remember the perimeters to this world or the previous characters, though I remember Jabril. For some reason I think I mixed this series up with series, maybe because the covers can be similar, no idea why, which is why it took me so long to get to this book.

Sarah is an interesting character because she's hiding something but it took me a while to know that she was hiding something. I really enjoyed how Rajmund and Sarah kind of organically got together. They saw each other due to Cyn coming down to see her and cheer her up.

I did have some issues in this book though. Why wouldn't Sarah confide in her BFF Cyn about her dreams? I kept wondering and wondering why she would think it wasn't real, or they were abnormal when it's common knowledge that vamps walk among them. It just didn't make sense. Until it did. but this also doesn't account or explain how Sarah was also

Once Rajmund saw Sarah he had a driving need to be around her, what was surprising and that they didn't fall into bed with each other until almost the end of the book. He didn't want to have to take care of her and yadda yadda.

What drove me nuts about their relationship was Raj's railroading high handedness with Sarah. Stay here and be the safe pretty woman. Even though she has dreams about these people, no one actually asks her what she's really seen. Raj doesn't explain WHY he'd like for her to stay put. I think it would have been a better relationship if he would explain his reasoning. Instead he would demand her to do something they'd fight verbally and then suddenly they are making out and on their way to sex without anything from the argument being resolved.

I don't like that.

In fact I don't think if I'm angry I would want to make out with my SO, and I don't think I'd want to be touched either. I'd want the explanation and so this drove me a little batty when it happened 2 more times. Like could we have a conversation?

Other than that I figured out who the culprit was so very early on that I was surprised to see Raj had not investigated that further. Dismissing this person as a weakling. Just because they are weak doesn't mean they won't try, nor does it mean that they should be dismissed. I was disappointed in the bad guy and the lack of explanations on exactly what he was trying to achieve. I suspect more of that will be coming out in subsequent books.

I do want to know about my original spoiler from before I wrote my review. Is that going to be answered in Sophia's book or is it in a novella?

To be absolutely fair to D.B. Reynolds, I am going to say upfront that I am not a fan of paranormal romance. In terms of the Vampires in America Series, we have reviewed, Raphael and Jabril. In Rajmond, the protagonist changes from Cynthia to her friend Sarah. I wish I could tell you that this improved the already disastrous series.

Sarah is haunted by her past. As a young girl, when she began dreaming about women being abused and trying to help the police, her parents thought that she was crazy, and so they had her institutionalized. After reaching the age of 18, she created a new identity, and worked two jobs to get an education to put her past behind her. When she finally achieves her dream and becomes a professor Cuny in Buffalo, the dreams return, turning her peaceful life into a nightmare. Sensing that something is not quite right with her friend, Cyn invites Sarah to meet in her in Manhattan for a weekend of fun and shopping, after getting Raphael's permission, 'cause of course, grown women property cannot travel without supervision.

"I too have a place," he chided her gently. "With far more suitable accommodations than your father's.

where Sarah meets the vampire Rajmond, or Raj as he likes to be called. But it is not a simple matter for me or my mate to travel to another's territory." He drew a long breath, thinking about Cyn's request and how it might serve a purpose of his own. "One weekend, lubimaya, no more." (pg 17 -18)

Aww isn't Raphael sweet? Of course this controlling shit is justified, because he is a master vampire after all. I suppose we should be thankful, because without his permission, there would have been no way to create a situation in which Cyn, introduces her friend Sarah to Raj.

While the trip to New York, is social for Cyn, for Raphael it's business, and so he sends the little women away so that he can confer with Raj. They come straight to the point, and Raj tells Raphael that his master, who just happens to reside in Buffalo (nope, not contrived its supposedly happenstance), no longer has the strength to take care of the vampires in his territory, and that he is considering challenging him for leadership. When their business is concluded, Raj and Sarah hit the dance floor, where she gets lost in the pheromones and begins fantasizing about sex right on the spot. We learn later that Sarah is highly susceptible to vamp pheromones. This fact alone should make Sarah question her ongoing attraction to Raj, given that he is patronizing from the moment that he meets her, referring to her as "little one" and is arrogant beyond belief, but that would have invested Sarah with agency, and we simply cannot have that unless she is setting herself up to be saved or planning a beautiful night time wedding.

The 3rd book in the Vampires in America series was quite different than the previous 2. Of course it would be as it focused on different characters this time around. While Rajmund was alright, it was really Sarah that made this book feel so different than book 1 and 2. Cyn had been strong, a force of her own and though she was not a vampire she held herself as an equal... a peer. Sarah's story is quite different and for me, that made all the difference. I found her annoying, insecure, weak willed and well... boring. I enjoy reading about strong women and when the female character comes off as so much less (less strength, intelligence, confidence, logic) than her male counterpart, I lose interest. I guess the author wanted to change it up from the previous female in the series, but can't women be different, though just as strong and complex in their own way? She didn't have to be an ex-cop, but she could have been quick thinking, more confident, and less like a drooling little girl. I just didn't get it, nor did I care. I decided this book was just not for me, so I stopped about half way in and will hope to continue with Duncan's book, which sounded far more interesting.

Love this series, Still kicking myself for not reading it back to back!!'

Rajmund and Sarah are so meant to be together, Great sexual tension all the way through, but you have totally got to be kidding me about the ending!!! It is going to take me a couple of days to get to Sophia's book and find out what the cliffhanger is about, but there is no Way I'm leaving it longer than that!

I have found a new book boyfriend in Rajmund, Sarah is one lucky girl! Jealous much!!

He returned to his perusal of the street below with a disgusted curse. “I hate that fucking vampire shit, he said.

Raj winced. He hated that formal vampire shit and Em knew it.

Raj gave Emelie a pained look and gazed down at the perfectly straight line of pale scalp down the middle of Angel's dark head. He hated this vampire shit.

He cracked one eye opened and rasped, “I hate that vampire shit."

I get the definite feeling Raj doesn't like the pomp and ceremony that goes with being Lord and Master!! He's a real genuine Feeling guy, with a sense of humor all be it a bit warped!

Four and a half stars

Love, love, loved it! This is my favorite so far of the series. I love the wit in the writing. Obviously well thought out. The writing is full and flowing, the plot is fast paced, always forward moving. Loved the characters. The characters were so real and believable I feel they could actually exist. I love the males in this series. They are the perfect alpha characters finding the one person who reaches their heart. I like that they maintain their "alphaness" without turning into soft pushovers. I wasn't sure I would like the hero's second being a female, but she pulled it off well.

The only complaint I have is that I don't have the next book waiting at my fingertips! This is a series I will definitely be pursuing.

Liked it well enough, and would have rated higher than 3 stars but Raj just pissed me off too many times. At times, he treated Sarah rather poorly with what he'd say or push her away "for her own good" without proper groveling esp considering all she'd had been through. I hate that bullshit from heros in stories..And esp at the end- WTFever is all I gotta say...That being said I like this series alot and glad to see more of Cyn and my man Raphael(now that's a hero) in the next one. One part of this book I liked was Emelie, now she was very likable and probably found her more interesting than Sarah and Raj
