I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

This book was actually fun to read. The main girl, Megan, is a complete idiot. She is so f-ing stupid that it's hilarious. She pretends to be a sex droid and then actually thinks she gets away with it when the cyborg dude plays along with her. It's the equivalent of expecting an adult to fall for the "got your nose" bit and patting yourself on the back for tricking them.

But, although Megan is a moron, she and Ice have a cuter love story than the previous couples. There are also a lot of other things going on in this world that are more interesting than the previous stories. So, things are looking up for this series.

Wow!!! Ice is a cyborg that enjoys sex and refuses to go without.

Ice

When a trip to the "robot brothel" for a little artificial loving goes wrong, Ice finds himself in possession of a Sex Bot. Only this Sex Bot is a human, trying to pretend to be a robot.
“You sure you want me inside you, Megan? Are you programmed for this? I wouldn’t
want to blow any of your circuits. You can tell me it’s not in your parameters. It would be okay and I wouldn’t be upset.

Megan is the programmer in charge of a space brothel full of Sex Bots. She's not suppose to view the clients, but she has been spying on Ice for months. He's so damn sexy, muscular, and well endowed. When her ship is damaged beyond repair, she seeks shelter with Ice and his sexually frustrated crew aboard his spaceship.

description

Megan is afraid if the cyborgs discover she is a real human, that they will kill her. So she decides to pretend to be a Sex Bot, for safety purposes. So what if this includes a little quality time with the cyborg of her dreams, Ice.
“I’m going to play with you nice and easy, he said softly, his voice husky. “If you were real you’d enjoy this. I’m hoping that you’re programmed for moans and realistic sexual reactions.

OMG, these two were so HOT together. I loved how Ice was so protective of Megan from day one. I loved this couple and can't wait to find out about Coal's fate in the next book,

Ice and Megan

Ice really enjoys sex with android sex bots. He avoids humans and other Cyborgs because he does not want to invest emotionally to either of them. He is a loner who has suffered a lot by being used by the ruling council.
The rare color of his hair has made him one of the most desirable males for breeding. As a result he has produced 27 children whom he is not allowed to see or be part of their lives in any way.
He had enough! Now he regularly enjoys the company of female robots on an automated whorehouse in deep space and he feels satisfied.

Megan works at the automated whorehouse in deep space, Folion. She is not sleeping with the clients of course the working girls there are only robots.
Megan is hiding. She is a programmer, responsible for the maintenance of the robots, the station and Clara the annoying voice behind the station’s computer. Megan is the only human there and she feels very lonely. Her only feel good times are when she is watching the tall, gray and sexy Ice enjoying himself with the station robots. And this is going on for months. This is against the regulations of course, but she cannot help it. She is extremely attracted to Iron.

When Folion is almost destroyed by a drunk spaceship driver, Iron and his Cyborg friends rescue the female robots including Megan who pretends to be one of them.
Now she has the chance to sleep with the male of her dreams as long as Iron does not realize that she is human and not a robot.
Can Iron really be that stupid? Or is Megan the stupid one? I really enjoyed the mind games both of them are playing. Their scenes together are excellent! And funny in a kinky kind of way :D

My favorite part of the book is the claustrophobic scene in the emergency life capsule in the end of the book. I am a bit claustrophobic myself and I could certainly feel Iron’s terror, flowing in the dark space in a small box. Good thing that Megan is with him.

Hot and steamy!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁😍🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Megan - she was a computer programmer working on a pleasure space ship called Folian. Though she didn’t know she wouldn’t be allowed outside the employee quarters. She is bored to death and sick of Clara, the annoying AI with a southern accent. She fills her time watching a certain cyborg client who comes to be pleasured by the sex bots.

The Hero: Ice - he enjoys sex a lot and is sick of cyborg females because they control the men too much in his society and he likes his freedom. His hair and eye colors are rare for cyborgs so many of the cyborg female’s used him to get pregnant and he ended up fathering a ton of kids who are raised by their mothers. So now he goes to a pleasure spaceship and gets his needs met by bots.

The Story: when another ship crashes into the Folian and all life support is lost, Megan knows she is in trouble but is able to board the last ship before it leaves. Though it turns out to be a ship full of cyborgs. Megan knows cyborgs are ruthless and hate human so she decides to pose as a bot so that she isn’t killed. Ice takes ownership of Megan as his personal pleasure bot and she has to go along with anything he wants. It isn’t too much of a stretch since he is the same handsome cyborg she had been watching for months.

This series is super steamy and the intimate scenes are burning hot. There are plenty of them, and the cyborg love is so sexy. I liked the story in this one about Megan escaping with the bots and the fact that she is a programmer who once worked on another type of bot that have a backstory with a striking resemblance to that of the cyborgs.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Mindy Kennedy. She has a great voice and I do like her narration. As this is my third book in the series, I have gotten quite used to her voice and enjoy her narration. Though she doesn’t do a range of voices for different characters, so there is that.

1️⃣ First Read:
⭐⭐⭐⭐
5 stars.
2019/10.

2️⃣ Reread:
2023/08.

⭐⭐
2 stars.

I do not know why I gave this book a higher/high rating when I first read it?
I must have been half asleep or confused this book with another one?

Because this book is absolutely 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝟱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹.

On this re-read this book gets a review and a much lower rating:

 What I liked :

Some little parts of the story/plot here and there were kind of interesting.

Quick read.

 What I disliked:

Rather predictable/unoriginal and formulaic character descriptions and characterizations.
(I also have a sneaking suspicion that most or all books in this series will also be very predictable/formulaic and repetitive from how this book is written and how the characters and main characters in it are portrayed.
𝑨 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆/𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒊-𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒖𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒄𝒚𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒂 𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈.. 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔.)

Thin plot.

Repetitive.

The world-building and the characters needed much more depth and development but it also needed to be less jumbled and over the top.

The romantic build up/emotional connection and also the chemistry was very lacking and rushed.

Perplexing/puzzling backstory (at least in this book)
(The cyborgs were oppressed and persecuted by humans. But seem to be just as oppressive themselves (towards their own kind but also outsiders) both on a societal level.... but also on a individual level. (Which shows they learnt nothing from the past and their own oppression and managed to make and have a equally or just as screwed up and oppressive society for themselves as they had before.)

Most of the glimpses of the other cyborg men in this book makes it seem like almost all of the cyborg men are total controlling/aggressive jerks and douche-bags.

Unlikable and annoying hero.
(The hero was a distrusting douche-bag for most of the story.)

Annoying heroine.
(The heroine was a fool/stupid and idiotic for most of the book/story and did not think things through etc.)

Too much smut and not enough depth/development of the relationship or depth of the characters.

Touching Ice is book four in the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner.

Ice is a loner and he enjoys sex. The rare color of his hair has made him one of the most desirable males for breeding and he’s produced 27 children whom he isn’t allowed to see or be a part of their lives. He’s had enough of the council and his people.

Megan works at an automated whorehouse in deep space making sure the sex bots stay in top condition. She’s the only human on the Folion station. Her only vice is watching one tall, gray, and sexy Cyborg enjoy the stations bots.

Megan is a little stupid and it’s funny that she thinks she can fool the Cyborgs; especially the one she’s got a thing for in pretending to be a sex bot. Ice was protective of her from day one and their love story is cute. We are introduced to a new threat to the Cyborgs and also a set up for book five.

Touching Ice was a nice read and I enjoyed.

The bots had their own brothel!!

and the prostitutes were autobots...

"May I be of service?"

Megan worked as a programmer in the spaceship which was actually served as a whorehouse. She had been secretly watching Ice Cyborg everytime he visited the brothel. One day there was a crash, Megan and the autobots were rescued by Ice's ship.

I love how the author brought new development to the series. The cyborgs were facing another threat not just from human, their existence could be known and it's dangerous. I also love Ice, he's more "human" that the other cyborgs I've read.

This is my favorite so far, there were actions, romance, more depth of emotions and the promise of a continuation of the side stories. Now I'm actually curious to see what's in for Coal and Zorus.

Hot sex with an intelligent story. I enjoyed it. 4 ½ stars to the first half, 3 stars to the last half.

STORY BRIEF:
Folion is a floating whorehouse in space. All the working girls are androbots. Clara the computer runs things, but one human is onboard as a safety backup Megan. Cyborgs are humans with some computer-type implants. Earth humans tried to kill them all, but some escaped and now live on other planets. Ice is a cyborg who has visited Folion several times. When he’s onboard, Megan secretly watches him. She fantasizes about him.

A drunk captain accidentally rams his spaceship into Folion, causing total damage. Twelve androbots and Megan escape onto Ice’s spaceship. While there, Megan reprograms all the androbots to not service Ice. While the androbots are being transported, the guys make use of them. But none of the bots will service Ice. Then Megan comes forward pretending to be a bot and offers to service him. She’s sweaty with no makeup and wearing unbecoming clothes. She’s better than nothing so Ice takes her to his room. As they are having a lot of really great sex, the reader wonders if Ice knows or is guessing that she may not be a bot.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
Trust Ellora’s Cave to give us some hot sex. That’s the best part. It was fun watching Megan pretending to be a bot. The story was best during the first half. The last half was less exciting, but good. I was intrigued with one scene concerning claustrophobia. It was different.

DATA:
Ebook story length: 3 ½ hours. Kindle count story length: 3834. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 10, some were lengthy. Setting: a future time traveling on spaceships. Copyright: 2010. Genre: erotic sci-fi romance.

My favorite of the series so far.

Megan is so lonely as the only human programmer on the space brothel Folion. Her only companions are the annoying computer and the sex bots. When a tall, gray and sexy cyborg visits the establishment she's hooked and not above spying and fantasizing.

When some drunk idiot crashes his ship into the Folion, she must evacuate with the sex bots. She ends up on Ice's ship and pretends she's also a sex bot (since no humans are supposed to be on the brothel ship). Ice knows she's human but doesn't know what to make of her. So he decides to play along and see what happens...and it's super hot.

Can't wait to see what happened to Coal and the asshole Zorus.

Scary run in with the creepy Markus androids.

I think this is my favorite of the cyborg seduction series so far. The emotional punch of the story was the strongest yet. There was some serious angst/pathos here. Megan is already enthralled with Ice before the story begins so there isn't any question of Stockholm syndrome. (All of the stories in this series so far have involved captured Earth women in one way or another). Even though Megan is not a real kick butt heroine, neither is she a wimp. She is a computer programmer who is a bit naive but very intelligent. She is scared of the cyborg's because she knows that humans are their enemies but she's not brainless about it. The book is told in 3rd person mostly from Megan's POV but some from Ice's POV. There is a new threat to the cyborgs introduced in this book. I don't know if they will be an issue in further books. The next book is seamlessly set up in this one also. The character was introduced in the 3rd book and was also in this one. He was used to further the plot in each book and was not just wedged in so good job LD. The writing is getting tighter and the plotting of each book gets better. The romance element is the focus of the book but the sci fi is strong enough to fit the stories without being hokey or unbelievable.

So there are a few things about this book that bugged the crap out of me and they are listed under the spoiler section. However, I still really enjoyed the book! I liked Ice (for the most part) (all of the cyborg have their asshole moments) and I ended up really liking Megan! It was hot and steamy. So long as you can get past the spoiler issues.

Ice has been my favorite so far. We got to see some of the male POV and I think that might be why. He was the most agreeable about the whole ending up with a human scenario. I like him a lot!!!!!

The only issue I am having with this books, is that NONE of the human females met one another. In the New Species books they have interactions. I would like to see them have some bonding. They are suck in testosterone world with all these males all the time, I think they need the break of having moments together. It just doesn't feel right that the human women wouldn't be brought together somehow.

Oh! And when the heck is Flint going to knock of Mira already!!!!!! LOL

Ice has been visiting a sex box on FOLION station for months now. Off and on... he wants no female or human contact no love no emotion..

but when he visits there one day another tanker is coming for a party and they are drunk and come in to fast and hit the station.

They cyborgs save 12 bots and one human.. who pretends to be a new sex bot that looks more human, it is all she can do since it is knowns cyborgs are knows to hack up humans for organs and body parts... true or not she does not know...

She makes her way in line with the sex bots... in the cargo hold while they are in storage she programs them all to reject ICE..... she has watched him for months now and wants him for herself... Megan is trying to act like a sex bot. And does all he tells her to do.. if it includes pain or not she does not let on she is human. But she has not fooled anyone... after Ice has sex with her he confides on ONYX she is human her heart was about to bust out she was in terror. but did like the sex lol...

Council has said she is to be put to death.. but.. Ice gets attached to her. and defies orders... then the Markus Models show up. asking for assylum from cyborgs. Megan pleads with ICE saying they are killers they know not what real emotions are and kill all in the path they take

The council lets her live since she is expert on them. She pleads to the cyborgs not to deal with markus models but they refuse. Then they show up.. all markus models walk together speak together, and are CREEPY... TO THE MAX... She jumps forward and speaks a command and ask them what their mission is, since she knows the programmed words to say they must answer They say 'we have come to take cyborgs back to earth and trade for our brothers..' council is stunned.. these androids think they are real but are nothing like a cyborg and are killers and the only way to kill them is electricution.

Then she raddles off a command to make them all shut down but it only last a short time. Cyborgs council think they can learn from the anatomy of them WRONG... BAD BAD things happen NO MORE spoilers read yourself... A REALLY GOOD READ.

5 Touching Ice Stars

Yes! I totally forgot how I enjoyed this book. Ice is one of my favorites of the series. He wanted to be this big strong Cyborg for Megan but he feels so much he wanted to make a barrier between them.

Only his heart is just so big he fell in love! Swoon right I know!
You also feel so many feels for him. He has been used for his procreation and not being able to claim any of the results hurts him dearly.

So he wants maybe needs is a better word to keep himself distant but when Megan comes to him in a unique way he is powerless to stop his heart from reacting.

Mindy Kennedy robotic voice is aces, I love her narration of this series. She pulls it off effortlessly!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I really liked this book and it was probably my favorite in the series so far. The plot was fast paced and constantly had my attention, I loved the main female character and the romance, and the most important thing: Ice. Unlike the previous main males, he did not constantly tick me off with the “I own you so shut up and bend over lines. Ice was sweet and caring and he protected Megan from the very beginning of the book. THAT is what I wanted from the previous books that I didn’t get. I wanted that protective side, not the owning side.

After reading this book and knowing Coal’s is next, there is NO way that I would not be continuing! I am just so excited to read it!

re-read, 4 1/2 stars This is book four in The Cyborg series and it is very apparent that we can count on Laurann to give us not only a great story but an original story with another hot hero. Megan has watched Ice for months in her closed off room were she monitors the BOTS and the clients. The second she saw him she new she wanted him but knew she wold never get the chance to even meet him or know his name. Till one day a ship damages her ship beyond repair and she is forced to leave. The only option she has is to pretend to be a BOT and board Ice's ship.

While onboard the ship Megan decides that because this is the only chance she will ever get to be with Ice that she is going to pretend to be a BOT so that she can be with him. The only problem with this plan is that Ice knows she's not a BOT and is convinced she's a spy so he takes it upon his self to find out what she's really up to, till other's find out about Megan and get involved. But now Megan and Ice have grown much closer and the only way to save her is to put her in front of someone who not only puts Megan in danger but the entire Cyborg race. I know the story line in this book sounds strange and I wasn't sure if I would like it But Laurann Dohner not only made it work she made it work great.

Oh boy this series is addictive and surely it gets better!

What I Liked.

I enjoyed the plotline. It was thrilling and TBH I skimmed most of the steamy scenes just because I was anticipating the next action pack.

The main characters were likable. Megan is funny and witty. I loved every time she talked about programming stuffs. It felt nice to know something new about this new world mixed of humans, cyborgs, pirates and the new one, robots or bots. I enjoyed reading about Ice too. He was tortured soul cyborg and I was crying my heart out for him. Love you, Ice.

Got to meet Flint again but minus Mira. What a bummer.

What I Disliked.

Zorus. Scratch "disliked", replaced it with "hatred".

I wasn't too happy with how things ended with Markus Models. After all the fuss, that was it?

Remember I mentioned I grew fondness with Pod 3 in previous book, well it got destroyed. In this book, I grew fondness instantly with another computer called Clara. She, too, got destroyed. I was so SAD.

......

All I can say is read this series if you haven't especially those who love erotic plus romance plus sci-fi like me!

Read on your own peril.

I love Dohner's Cyborg series and the world she's built in them. It's fascinating and tragic which is a very good combo to throw a romance into. In particular I always liked how alpha the cyborg men are - except with their own women (you'll have to read the series to find out why that is). Ice in past books was just as domineering as the others (Flint, Steel, etc) but in this one I found Megan to be just too bossy with him. She's really in command much of the time in spite of his kind of lackadaisal efforts to the contrary. This made the dynamic for me hard to get into - although there are some wonderful scenes at one point that had me near tears (and I'm not a crier so that's kind of hard to do).

The plot here is pretty strong and that carried me through - more interesting glimpses into cyborg society. So I definitely liked it - just not quite as much as the other 3.

yeah. i think i'm a bit weird. love the premise of this series. cyborgs. big, gigantic men with big, gigantic penises. human women - some brash, some wimpy, all soon consumed with the need to have sex with aforementioned big, gigantic penises.

don't get me wrong, though. this book is SF erotica. but the back story/world building is cool, and there is absolutely an emotional element. and although i may be a bit weird - i'm also evidently a bit of a puritan. because all the relationships end up being monogamous love matches.

le sigh. deep, impacting love + big, gigantic (gray!) penises = an awesome bath time read.

Loved the book and Ice's character. Liked the story more than the sex in the story. Yes there is sex but I would still like the book without the sex in it. The addition of the new threat in this universe was interesting. I really wanted to know what happened to Coal. Sky was pretty funny too. There are brief interactions with the previous Cyborgs but they are just mentioned in passing nothing is really added about their story.

I will definitely keep reading Laurann Dohner's books. So far I have loved the ones I have read!

3.5 stars, good but I was hoping for more.. You know, drama.

But overall, I loved it! Mostly because the plot is definitely different than I though it would be Hahaha. This series is my guilty pleasures. So going to read more! ;)

3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 stars because this book's plot is much better than the previous books' which received "only" 3 stars from dear me, myself and Dina)

This was an enjoyable read with Ice and Megan. I must say that Megan was an idiot and stupid to act as a sex bot and thinking she would not be found out. It was hilarious how both of them acted and was not really sure who is much stupider, Ice or Megan.

Everything would had moved faster if they both admitted what was plain to see that she was a human. I find the whole confrontation with the council sending Blackie to kill Megan hilarious.

The whole plot, world building and main characters were enjoyable to read. I find Ice protectiveness and possessiveness of Megan to be sweet. His relationship with other cyborgs were also good. I think this is the first book that I had read that the cyborgs have real deep relationship watching for each others back.

Megan might had been stupid pretending to be a sex bot but I don’t fault her actions. I also thinks she was lucky being with Ice as he had treated her really well and not harming her. Her honesty and loyalty for Ice was kind of refreshing. Together with Ice, the couple are hot together. Sometimes too hot that it over rides common sense when they were in danger.

This by far is my favorite in the series. There was actions, romance, with great relationships between characters.

This book was plagued with the same issue the the previous three had: the hero doesn’t do much pursuing if the heroine. As with the other books, when push came to shove he seemed ok about letting her go and the heroine was the one who schemes to keep them together. Pretty disappointing. Also Meghan, our heroine, was incredibly foolish and well, dumb. She pretends to be a bot for f’s sake and thinks that she has Ice fooled. Of course he had her figured out from the beginning. Ice wasn’t a jerk like some of the former heroes and he treated Meghan pretty well. Still, I felt it lacked the whole “alpha hero willing to do anything to keep his woman aspect.
