"Take off your clothes."

These are the first words Ivy Tyler-Mark hears from her new father-in-law, notorious billionaire Sever Mark.

She came to his mansion to bridge the divide between him and her husband—not to be mistaken for a scheduled playmate. But before she can say "Stop, I'm your daughter-in-law", major boundaries are crossed.

What happens next sets her down a dangerous path: He's awakened, and she has a secret to keep.

Now, he wants her for himself, and he won't be satisfied until she's willingly in his bed. Ivy is far from willing: she loves her husband, she's not a cheater, and she hates everything Sever stands for.

There's just one problem: their chemistry is volcanic, and they both know it.

To him, it's only a matter of time. To her, it's a doomsday clock.

Can she stop the clock—and herself—before it's too late? The countdown is on.

About the author

Once bicoastal, now just bi, Sirena Wise lives in southeastern Massachusetts with her partner and a small but ferocious dog. Her days are spent working for a non-profit, and her nights are spent with her imaginary friends who do unspeakable things to each other at her behest.

Despite what her pen name suggests, she is not always wise. Nor is she a siren, though she does live by the sea and has at least twenty thingamabobs. You be the judge.

Trust. The. Process.

This book is not my typical read. I gave an early version of the authors manuscript a read years ago, and I haven’t been able to shake this story since. I’ll be honest, it’s the only romance I’ve ever reread multiple times a year, for over a decade.

The witty dialogue, steamy and creative sex scenes, and depth of character development fulfills something that lacks in most of the romance genre for me.

If I can give any readers a word of advice, it would be to trust the process and don’t give up on the characters too early or you’ll miss all the magic.

The physical attraction between Sever and Ivy is instantaneous but she is very married (to his son of all people) and has a “nasty disease called principals. This usually would be an immediate ‘no for me but the author weaves such an incredible tale of tragedy, mystery, grief, rebirth, and ultimately self-discovery that it transcends infidelity/FILF (father I’d like to fuck).

Though the attraction instant, it’s a slow burn. There are more things to overcome than the aforementioned FILF/Infidelity. The book changes course 3/4ths of the way through and pulls you into a whole new world that peels back so many layers of the onion and leads to shocking revelations.

The author does not leave you hanging, or wanting until the end that is. I can’t wait for the second book. I’ve started my reread on this one already.

Read it.

This book contains some heavy subject matter so check the trigger warnings before jumping into it.

It slaps! It bangs! There is some slapping and a whole lot of banging! If you enjoy collecting new kinks like they are Pokémon cards this is for you. It’s witty and sexy as hell! Morally grey billionaires are at their best when they meet their match in a smart and feisty woman that can take them on. Each forbidden and passionate interaction between Ivy and Sever is more creative and fun than the last while also serving to further the development of the characters. The deeper you go the darker it gets as the mysteries of Sever’s past come to light and there are twists you won’t see coming. The author perfectly blends humor and sexual tension to create a fast-paced story that stays with you long after the final page.

I’m an ARC reader but I also read the original version of this well over a decade ago and fell in love with it. I’ve continued to go back and reread it at least once a year since then. Sirena Wise is an amazing storyteller and has mastered the art of snappy banter. I really enjoy her clever and unique writing style and I can’t wait for the sequel and anything else she writes in the future.

I've been waiting so long to see this in print.

Sirena Wise is a masterful writer. Her prose are at once beautiful and easily digestible, and her characters are flawed but relatable. The plot is perfectly paced. You can tell Wise took her time with this.

The story of Start with a Slap is not for the faint of heart, but those who brave it will be left eagerly awaiting book two.

This book is super sexy and super complicated. Check the trigger warnings before reading, but if you can handle the topics it tackles, you won't regret reading this one.

I received this book as an ARC but am providing an honest review of my own volition.

“She was going to kill him the next time she never saw him again.

A dark fantasy, an illicit love affair, a desperate passion, and some powerful kinks. BDSM, older man/daddy kink, cheating, sharp wit, clever power plays, burning desires, and dark intrigues make this the kind of story that reaches out and grabs you by the throat. (In all the best ways.)

A case of mistaken identity starts the ball rolling as father-in-law Sever’s aggression is met head on by sensible, no-nonsense Ivy. Neither of them are looking for an affair, but it seems to reach out and grab them in the very first chapter, and hits like a ton of bricks. Ivy’s first impression of Sever is one of almost pure evil, yet she’s unable to stop from fantasizing about their initial, inadvertently sexual, shocking encounter. Unable to stay away from him due to his relationship with her husband, Ivy finds herself faced again and again by what seems to be her ideal fantasy sexual partner.

As for Sever, his own kinks are activated by every move of Ivy’s, and he makes that very clear from the start. He makes his first real advance with a beautiful and blunt delivery of, “I want to have an affair with you, followed by calmly and without fuss taking complete control of the situation and proceeding to do exactly that. Ivy’s vocal rejection, yet her very real unwillingness to resist makes the subsequent affair a fait accompli as the reader watches her tumble down the rabbit hole of lust, money, and illicit duplicity. The sex ranges from desperate quickies against the wall to long drawn out food orgies and ice cubes, with powerful emotion throughout each disparate encounter.

Of course, Ivy’s self-obsessed husband doesn’t help. Jason’s hang ups are far from inexplicable as the plot unfolds, and yet when the two men are inevitably compared, Sever indulges Ivy’s instincts and interests, while Jason cannot be reasoned with in almost any capacity without shutting down in some way. Good marriages are made by communication, and Ivy’s complete inability to be honest with Jason is matched only by his seeming inability to try and connect with her. His obliviousness is almost pathological. It’s almost as if he’s tempting her and testing her, possibly subconsciously.

The real draw of the piece, of course, is Sever’s unshakable appetite for Ivy. It’s powerful and seductive to think one might be perused, studied, as if her past life and interests, her behavior and her desires, were a course of study for some kind of doctoral thesis. Even more than the money and the fame, the ATTENTION is more seductive than anything else. His seductive aggression is intoxicating. But Ivy never seems unable to hold her own, in her decisions or her awareness, completely accountable, always adult, managing the wildly over the top Sever in ways that a lesser, inexperienced woman could not.

Ivy’s sections are cerebral and seductive, as we follow her through her denial, rationalizations, and ultimately self-aware submission to Sever’s advances. When the narrative switches to Sever’s POV for certain sections, the story sharpens and solidifies, taking from the impossible fantasy of having money and attention lavished upon one, to the passionate intensity of a deeply injured human being. His cocksure self-assurance covers the loneliness of an emotionally tortured man, less sure of himself than he lets on.

But there’s no way around it. Sever is a BAD BOY. He’s aggressive, he’s selfish, he has no respect for his son, and while he clearly grows respect for Ivy, it seems to hit him as unexpectedly as their sexual attraction, and he does his best to ignore it until the very end of the book.

The fantasy and eroticism hold as a solid framework to a legitimately dark backstory, which slowly uncurls like a poison fern through the course of the book. The powerful sex scenes frame a plot that is dark, dangerous, and illicit, with themes that could be very triggering for some. Enough to give some people a bad taste in their mouth, but at the same time transgressive enough to supercharge the sex and raise stakes for the characters. It makes the passion emotional in a way that a lesser novel couldn’t manage.

The worst one can say about this book is that it is utterly fantastical the story could be about vampires and faeries and be at the same level of realism. While the characters are well-developed, fun to read, and intriguingly complex, real people simply do not act, look, or behave like these characters. However, the story is all the better for that. Who wants sex scenes where the guy comes in thirty seconds and forgets who he’s in bed with the next minute? Who wouldn’t prefer the fantasy of private jets with fully supplied bedrooms, fantastic French chalets, ingeniously stocked BDSM dungeons, and fabulous presents?

The only other flaw in this book is that it is clearly an unfinished story. Just as the narrative starts to heat up (in the plot, not the sexual sense) the story ends, leaving you panting for the next installment. Here’s hoping it comes out soon!

(Affectionate shoutout for the term “scandalgasmed.)

Cheating (not between the main characters)
French flirting/arguing (they are so close aren’t they?)

So in this story we have Ivy who is married to Jason, I think for maybe 6 months. He’s shared he isn’t close with his dad and there’s trauma there. Wanting to repair the relationship because she loves her husband she goes to his billionaire fathers house one night to convince him to work on a better relationship with his son. Upon arriving she quickly realizes that Jason’s dad, Sever, thinks she’s a h00ker. He says some cheeky stuff when she tells him who she is and she slaps him. “Best things in life start with a slap

Sever convinced himself that Ivy will be his and that she’s wasting away. So he uses his push and pull and charm to ensure she accompanies him to events, and even a trip to Paris.

One thing leads to another and you know

In this book there’s a ton of backstory on why father and son don’t talk, including some childhood $A and trauma by another family member.

Sever fully wants Ivy, it isn’t just because she’s his sons wife. He genuinely wants and cares for her.

Ivy of course goes through some crisis and being unsure of what she wants.

There’s also a little murder mystery happening.

Ends on a cliffhanger

This book was supplied to me as an ARC (but I have purchased a copy as well.) I have read the fanfic that inspired this story many times. The author is probably my very favorite in this genre, so I went in expecting a lot...

It delivered.

First let me say, I am not a fan of cheating on your spouse romances and neither do I care all that much for BDSM (although, this is pretty light.) Sirena Wise makes all of my inhibitions regarding these two things evaporate. Sure the billionaire trop has been done, but not like this. Ms Wise makes the characters jump off the page with life, vitality, humor, and heart. This story is not about uncontrollable attraction between two people that should not be together, but instead an evolving love story about finding your perfect fit when you thought you already had and where you least expected it.

The characters, at the beginning are living muted half lives that they think are fulfilling. Then they are faced with "what could be" and are forced to realize that hiding part of yourself might be safe, but will not make you happy. They have some major road blocks, mostly due to past secrets raising their ugly heads (and boy are they ugly,) but each revelation is just peeling away another layer of the complicated, eff-ed up, and human people that we are learning to love. This book ends on a cliff hanger, but it is one that gives you hope...

I will be counting the days until part 2.

{I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily on my own free will.}

This is book is wonderful, plain and simple. Reading a dark romance like this is like eating a giant delicious cupcake. The story itself is so delicious that you can’t help but continue to eat. it. up. It is a dessert of a read, you’ll absolutely devour it.

Start with A Slap has the perfect recipe of spicy scenes that’ll have your toes curling, romance that’ll make you blush and giggle (while kicking your feet) and enough drama to have you hooked until the last page.

It is a dark romance that is best paired with a glass of wine and a bubble bath. I cannot wait for the second book!

"Welcome to the family"
This book is hands down the sexiest, filthiest, naughtiest romp of fantastic smut I have ever read.
I read it back in the day when it was just beginning and I knew it was glorious then and begged to have more, and after ages it still holds up... in fact it is leagues above all the others. 50 Shades and 365 DNI are a pale imitation of this incredibly kinky masterpiece. At last the world can enjoy a funny, blisteringly sharp, well written, no holds barred, eat the apple, fall down the rabbit hole, and buy new batteries for your vibrator worthy book. I cannot wait for book 2!

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a review of my own volition.

I’ve been following Sirena Wise for years as a Buffy fanfic writer and was excited to read her first book. I had never read the specific fanfic this book is based on. The subject matter of this particular one is not my cup of tea, but Wise is always good to forewarn readers of any sensitive subject matters or trigger warnings. Her writing style is also witty and well thought out. Reading her work is enjoyable.

Because of personal preference (the jam scene was off putting) I felt this book was too heavy on the sex scenes; that said, if you are reading this book then lots of sex is probably what you are looking for. (Her fanfic handle is “Nautibitz for a reason!) Still four stars because it’s an interesting read and I can’t fault the author for writing kinks I don’t share. I will still read the sequel because I want to see how the story ends, and I continue to want to support the author in her break into publishing.

Listen, I know you've all sat there before, just wishing you could find a book that compared nipples to "strawberry cream dollops", and involved globs of strawberry jam being spat into a woman's vagina before being licked out by a dude with a freakishly long tongue, while overusing words like "labia" and "mons" - and well, I am here to let you know that such a book exists! Let me introduce you to one of the worst books I've read in awhile, Start With a Slap.

The initial premise was intriguing - girl meets new husband's billionaire father, begins affair with him. Ok, taboo relationship with a hot older man, I see you. I can read this. But then the food comparisons began, and oh boy. You know how you drive past a car crash and you just can't look away from it? I honestly can't think of a better way to describe this. I actually stayed up until 2am finishing this because I could not stop reading! I shuddered and gagged and crinkled my nose more than a few times - somehow I don't think that was the vibe the author was going for?

This is book one of a duet - and you can bet all the money you own that I will absolutely read the second one. It couldn't get worse than this one, could it? Right? It can't get worse? Oh god....

Butter is basically ruined for me now. Can we all just agree that you should never use it as lube?

These are actual quotes from the book that need to be shared with the entire world -

"I am... whoever the Pokemon is who won't get in the ball." He nodded, stone-faced. "Mewtwo." She nodded, just as serious. "I'm totally Mewtwo"

...she said in English, "Who wants dessert?" "Let me think," Sever mulled over the prospect. "Puis-je le manger sur ton petit trou du cul?" She choked on her drink. His question: "Can I eat it off of your asshole?"

"Tell me something. Do you ever wear stockings, or are those obsolete now? I don't know why, but I've been imagining you slinking about in these nude pantyhose and like, savagely ripping them from your bum."

Arms tight around his neck, pussy throbbing on his cock, warm nectar oozing down"

Her nipples, two strawberry cream dollops, tautened under his gaze

He ran a hand over her lovely bottom. Felt like a ripe plum he wanted to take a bite out of... but he slapped it instead, and the plum wiggled gleefully

He upturned it and shook it out onto her Spot. The contents landed with a gooey plop! plop plop.

As she climaxed, she gripped and slackened in erratic bursts, milking him, as a rush of her orgasmic nectar inundated his fingers

guiltylustyfreakydeakyness

The act wasn't new to her, but sweet custardy Hades no one did it like Sever. Granted, no one did anything like Sever... but this took the cake, held the cake really close and vibrated.

The more you struggle, the harder I get, lambchop!

Do I want this to happen to me? No, if I even heard about this in the context of gossip would I be as obsessed as I am now, yes. Now with Sever being the man that he is, I would definitely (maybe) want a love like this to find me but also the manipulation was insane so maybe not. When I tell you this man wanted Ivy, the FMC, so bad he made it happen, I mean it. He said let me “need a secretary and flew her out to her favorite city, bought her the painting she wanted and loved, and let his son talk about his wife so he could find new things out about her as well as doing like a in-depth all the way back to high school background check on her. Like my jaw dropped from the second he said, “You and I are having an affair. SIR???? Obsessed. Ivy, poor girl, she tried to stay faithful she really did. But I mean a hot, sexy, billionaire was after her. What’s a girl supposed to do? Let her boring son of the billionaire husband keep her from her man? No! Ugh this needs to be a TV show I would absolutely eat this up, it’s like Scandal but instead of feeling bad for Mellie, you feel neutral about Jason. I mean he has a J name, he was doomed for the start 🤭 i should also mention that the spice in this book is going to stay with me forever. I’m 90% sure the “Jason’s in the shower scene is in this book and not book 2 and today is Tuesday, I read that scene like Sunday and I’ve thought about it 6 times at least since. The spice is so good like you under why she couldn’t say no or get away from Sever. Like Jason’s fun time was ok but his dad’s? SHE CAME BACK WITHOUT A VOICE FROM SCREAMING SO MUCH like goals.

Not a clean book at all !
As always please read triggers prior to reading. Book does have an affair so please be mindful of that.

It was a fast read, Ivy and Sever chemistry is off the charts. Ivy is married to Jason, Jason is a mystery he rarely likes to talk about his childhood, parents or anything related to the past. Ivy, for the most part is an open book and tries to understand her husband Jason for not opening up. That all changes when Ivy thinks it’s a good idea to reunite Jason and his father as she feels it’s an opportunity that she wished she could have with her mother who recently passed away. Little did she know, that visit would open pandora’s box.

Ivy starts to question her marriage, her life and her preferences when it comes to bed. She starts to feel more alive and is fighting the guilt of having an affair with a billionaire fil who understands her more than she understands herself. Showing her a world she didn’t even know was possible for her to enjoy.

I can’t wait to see what mystery is up ahead in the next book. The book does leave off as a cliffhanger, I’m assuming the next book is a continuation of this book. Book is not a stand alone.

Forbidden, contemporary romance with a charming hero, their attraction was instant and tangible. The writing style was pretty good, but the story progression was just indolent; the conflict arising out of the forbidden held no angst. By 40%, I felt the author was trying to edge me, but instead, I just lost interest. It is also not dark as the duet title suggests. I often thought when is the story going to take off?

Sever, the father in law, is charming, shown as older, debonair, worldly, accomplished. They share an attraction at onset. Ivy is married to Sever’s son who is depicted as safe, where safe equals drab, so there’s not real conflict to choosing to be with someone who is, instead, exciting. Ivy, predictably, is challenged to be true to her artist self and not safe.

All their repartee began to get tiring, not tension building. Absolutely there is a strong attraction between the two, but this book reads like a contemporary forbidden romance with an age-gap: a worldly man - untapped potential woman story rather than a love affair with sufficient turmoil (heck, even some blackmail) to add to the conflict, tension, or spice. Even a love triangle would have added some drama. Instead, there were only advantages to her being with Sever and not the son.

I’m curious how the story unfolds, but probably not enough to continue what read like a sweet, forbidden, stars in my eyes because it’s an older guy story. It wasn’t a bad story; it wasn’t for me. As written, it didn't contain elements or conflictual themes to hold my interest.

FILTHY

Most noticeable thing about this book is the amount of smut 😅 (not complaining because it was hot) I liked the plot.

🍓Insta-lust! The spicy scenes be spicing 4/5🌶

I’m actually half-hearted can’t say I actually like the personality of the FMC not much. And Sever, he hides behind a mask, that I know of. It somehow turned a little interesting halfway through, because things started to happen betrayal, secrets, more secrets and so on

I also liked how the age/age-gap wasn’t the point of focus in the story. It was like we just knew that he’s older, he’s the father of her husband and that’s it, unlike most books with age-gap trope.

Also didn’t slip past me the scene with Ernesto pretty sure he’s Filipino (Filipina here 😅)

There are themes that might be triggering to some so watch out before reading.

I’ll be waiting for the next book!

Wow. This one kinda sneaks up on you. I did not see that ending coming and it’s the mother of all cliffhangers. Loved the spice. Loved all the twists and turns. Really good plot. Not a fan of having to wait to see what happens next. That part doesn’t thrill me at all.

As the book says, it sure does start with a slap and ends with way more than that!! This book is steamy and hot. Oh boy. If you are looking for father in law hot billionaire this is the book for you! Ivy is the main character and boy does she make me laugh with some of the stuff she says or thinks *wink*. And how she handles her hot father in law and his ways to win her over. Because of he says "he always gets want he wants"

This is a great book to read, I was able to finish it on one day! I say give it a read you won't be disappointed!

Things to note before I start my review.
- we read our triggers before we start a book.
- We do not yuck another’s yum. Aka you will not judge based on what someone likes and they will not judge based on what you like.

Both of the above are important because this story falls under taboo romance. Taboo means
prohibited or restricted by social norms.

I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
This book is well written. And includes interesting vocabulary, French, and dual pov.
The characters flesh themselves out early on and stick true to themselves.

Ultimately this book was not for me. I knew going in it was a father in law/ daughter in law relationship. I didn’t know that the bottom of your back could be an erogenous zone, and our mfc has a fixation on it, for me it was odd. I have personal issues with food and sex, lots of people enjoy it and enjoy it as a concept it just isn’t for me, our mmc is all about it and it just doesn’t do it for me.
I did DNF at about 70%.

If you are looking for something taboo and exploring some different kinks I would say to give this a try!

This was my first time reading Sirena Wise and it definitely won’t be the last.

We meet Ivy who’s content with her life, her job and with her marriage to Jason.
Jason doesn’t get a long well with his father Sever and we don’t know why, we just know that there’s tension and some unresolved drama. Ivy takes it upon herself to try and help them make amends so she drives to Severs house and is escorted into his office by one of the helpers at his mansion. When Sever finally makes an appearance let’s just say there was a mix up and Sever thought Ivy was a woman that was there to help with his…pleasure. Ivy sets him straight and tells him she’s his daughter in law (while he already put her down on her knees) 😏 Do you think that stopped Sever from already being intrigued by her? oh no, he wants to start an affair with her.

This book was a wild and spicy ride. There were times where I had to close my kindle and just take a quick breather because holy cow the spice was SPICY. I really loved the connection that Ivy and Sever had. Ivy is feisty and gives Sever attitude and puts him in his place and I loved that.
But Sever also knows how to put Ivy in her place.in the best possible way.

What about Jason you may ask? I don’t want to give any spoilers so you will have to read this book to see what happens between Ivy and Jason and Ivy and Sever. Does Jason find out about them?

There was some unexpected plot twists that happened that make me so anxious for book 2.

If you want a spicy good time, with tension, angst and drama then please read this book.

Thank you so much to Sirena for giving me the amazing opportunity to read this book.

OMG this book! I normally save my five star reviews for a book that makes me cry and really makes me feel something powerful. This book didn’t make me cry but definitely made me think and hooked me right in. I had no idea what to expect but this wasn’t just a smut sex fest, although the spice was chef's kiss. I read this on my kindle and took it everywhere. I had ten minutes left and opened it as soon as presents were opened to finish. The last twenty minutes were gripping and I audibly gasped at the ending. I closed my kindle and looked at my family, who is all now staring at me, and said it ends in a major cliffhanger, and my 4 year old nephew says you've got to be kidding me lol. Couldn't have said it better buddy. I highly recommene, if you go in with an open mind you will be blown away. This is my first review I have ever left on this app because this new author deserves it. I absolutely cant wait for book two!!! New fan here for sure ❤️

First and foremost: this book involves an affair, so if that is a trigger for you this may not be the book for you. It also contains some other triggering material so please be sure to read warnings beforehand!

Just finished this book at the airport and couldn’t wait to post a review!!

Themes/tropes:
* Age gap
* Billionaire FIL
* Strong willed FMC
* Dubcon
* Family secrets and drama
* Bôndäge and brèáth play

Let me tell you, I was mostly prepared for the spice but I was not at all prepared for how much I would enjoy this plot, especially all of the twists towards the end! The spice was spicing 🤌🏼 but the plot really makes it even more enjoyable. This is an absolutely stellar debut novel and I’m now waiting with bated breath for the next book! Also Daddy Sever is like a 5 Michelin star chef’s kiss. 😮‍

My emotions : 🤨🥵🧈️🎉😠😤

⚠️ - end in cliffhanger until book 2

I can see this story being a love or hate-it type of book. For now, let's stick to the fact that I ate it up over a weekend.

This is not an easy-read, with lots of devilish metaphors & double-entendre that make you go 😲 and 😏 .
If you can overlook the cheating trope, the spice will not disappoint you.

It's easy to give 5 when I find a book with my favorite tropes and kinks; it's another feat when it's mixed in with a very unlikeable trope (cheating), in 3rd person POV, and unfinished. That's all I'm saying. 😁

🏷 : cheating fmc, age gap, daddy play, taboo, food play, bdsm, spanking, praise & degradation, childhood trauma (recalled), check full tw's in author website.

Faaaarrrr out! Sirena Wise - that. Was. Intense!
In some very mixed up, morally grey way, I need me a Sever Mark!!! STAT!
He is intense, confident, powerful and doesn't take no for an answer. What could possibly go wrong with that right?!? Total red flags in the real world - but I am ALL FOR IT in my book era. ;)
I wanted Ivy to admit to what she wanted and go for it, guns a blazing, but her toing and froing and my mouth says no, but my body has a mind of its own... that might have dragged a few frustrated moans out of my mouth.
And Jason... poor, poor Jason. Such a puppy dog - or is he?!?
Those mic drop moments and cliffhanger twists had me clawing at the edge of my seat.
Keep the story twisting, keep the spice burning and grace us with End With A Bang ASAP!!!!!

This book goes above and beyond simple smut. Between the thrilling erotic parts there's an actual plot with a bit of mystery-unfolding concerning dark family secrets. But DO read the trigger warnings before reading, since the plot gets quite disturbing (my reason for not giving full five stars). The sex though is at most mild BDSM, so everyone should be good to go there.
If you are into "resisting forbidden temptation until you can't fight it anymore and finally give in to blinding desire", it doesn't get any better than this. Agressive seduction at it's finest!
Sirena Wise has been my favourite fanfic author for two decades so I was so excited to learn she started publishing her works! I look forward to the banging conclusion of this two-part series.

I used to read this author obsessively back in her fanfic era, so when this popped up I thought that at the very least I owed her the price of this book. But when I tell you I ate it up in less than a day??

I had forgotten just how good Sirena Wiles is. She is a true storyteller and her writing style is so engaging. The dialogue is fresh and witty and real, the characters are smart and complex. Sure, the general concept may not be everybody's cup of tea - but oh boy, that smut be smutting.

If you're not afraid of a big ol' heaping of dark with your romance, this is the book for you.

Now, someone hold me back from reactivating my LiveJournal account because I am foaming at the mouth for book two.
