Hidden in Jimbocho, Tokyo, is a booklover's paradise. On a quiet corner in an old wooden building lies a shop filled with hundreds of second-hand books.

Twenty-five-year-old Takako has never liked reading, although the Morisaki bookshop has been in her family for three generations. It is the pride and joy of her uncle Satoru, who has devoted his life to the bookshop since his wife Momoko left him five years earlier.

When Takako's boyfriend reveals he's marrying someone else, she reluctantly accepts her eccentric uncle's offer to live rent-free in the tiny room above the shop. Hoping to nurse her broken heart in peace, Takako is surprised to encounter new worlds within the stacks of books lining the Morisaki bookshop.

As summer fades to autumn, Satoru and Takako discover they have more in common than they first thought. The Morisaki bookshop has something to teach them both about life, love, and the healing power of books.]]>

Here I'll shamefully admit that I read this weeks ago and was just too lazy to mark it as such.

If I added 'learn fluent Japanese and visit Jimbocho' to my bucket list after reading this, that's none of your business...]]>

The deep orange atmosphere isn't exactly ideal, it makes things feel monotonous, but the hope of the day ending keeps you going. So you don't mind, and enjoy the sun, even if the chilly winds are still there.

...that's what this book feels like. If classifying books by colours and using negative words as a compliment was a socially acceptable way to give your insight on it, then this one is deep orange and extremely boring but in a way that you want to keep reading]]>

Imagine it is a late evening in September, the sun is setting and you are in an office. The rays of sun cover your office in orange hues as you continue to do your work, sorting through paper. There's a slight drowsiness in your eyes, like you can't wait for the day to end so you can go and have a fresh meal, rest, and read your favourite books or watch a movie. Maybe spend time on your hobbies too.
