Gabe thought he had covered all the angles, but it’s tough to plan a contingency for accidentally trapping an evil god in your brain.

Gabriel Delling might call himself a professional con artist, but when walking superstitions start trying to bite his face off, his charm is shockingly unhelpful. It turns out living nightmares almost never appreciate a good joke.

Together with a succubus who insists on constantly saving his life, Gabe desperately tries to survive a new reality that suddenly features demons, legends, and a giant locust named Dale—all of whom pretty much hate his guts. And when an ancient horror comes hunting for the spirit locked in his head, Gabe finds himself faced with the excruciating choice between death... or becoming some kind of freaking hero.

Hero Forged is the first book in the new series, Ethereal Earth, a modern fantasy adventure that challenges the natures of myth, humanity, and what it means to be the good guy.]]>

Visions have foretold that Corajidin, dying ruler of House Erebus, will not only survive, but rise to rule his people. The wily nobleman seeks to make his destiny certain—by plundering the ruins of his civilization’s past for the arcane science needed to ensure his survival, and by mercilessly eliminating his rivals. <![CDATA[The Princess of Potential (The House Witch, #4)]]> 124933805 A headstrong princess finds herself entangled in intrigue, politics, magic, and love in this coming-of-age novel set in the world of the House Witch series.

It’s been twenty years since Finlay Ashowan, the fabled house witch of Daxaria, first cooked up supernatural hijinks in the castle at Austice. Since then, much has changed; the royal family now resides elsewhere, a tentative peace has been established with Troivack, and the crown princess, Alina, is ready to pick the perfect nobleman to be her husband.

But Alina’s quest for her ideal consort is proving rather difficult. For one, between her father’s nerves and her own health issues, relations within the family are tense at best. For another, Fin and his wife, Annika, have returned to the castle to celebrate Alina’s momentous choice, bringing with them their fiery daughter, Katarina; mysterious son, Tamlin; and mischievous familiar, Kraken—all of whom have a penchant for finding trouble that somehow surpasses that of the house witch himself. And finally, the most politically promising suitor, the king of Troivack, is nothing less than completely intolerable.

Now, Alina must manage filial expectations, flirtatious miscues, magical misadventures, and dangerous plots, all as she struggles to find her own place within her kingdom—and understand the blossoming desires of her own heart . . .

Featuring a new generation of delightful characters as well as the trademark charm, humor, and fantasy that made readers fall in love with the House Witch series, The Princess of Potential is a captivating tale of courtly intrigue, slow-burn romance, and mystical adventure that’s perfect for teens and adults alike.

The charming spin-off of the hit romantic-fantasy series that has more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!]]>

Crier's War (Crier's War, #1) 41951626 Impossible love between two girls —one human, one Made.
A love that could birth a revolution.

After the War of Kinds ravaged the kingdom of Rabu, the Automae, Designed to be the playthings of royals, took over the estates of their owners and bent the human race to their will.

Now, Ayla, a human servant rising the ranks at the House of the Sovereign, dreams of avenging the death of her family by killing the Sovereign’s daughter, Lady Crier. Crier, who was Made to be beautiful, to be flawless. And to take over the work of her father.

Crier had been preparing to do just that—to inherit her father’s rule over the land. But that was before she was betrothed to Scyre Kinok, who seems to have a thousand secrets. That was before she discovered her father isn’t as benevolent as she thought. That was before she met Ayla.

Set in a richly-imagined fantasy world, Nina Varela’s debut novel is a sweepingly romantic tale of love, loss and revenge, that challenges what it really means to be human.]]>

When you have these kinds of power imbalance stories based on enemies to lovers, you have to prolong the period of animosity for as long as possible, in my opinion. This way, you can create moments like Crier (the princess) ordering the heroine to stand closer to her (because secretly she likes her company) and the heroine feeling all indignant at being ordered around. It's cute, and its the whole point of the trope. If within a chapter or two, the heroine is already over her lifelong grudge and developing inexplicable feelings for the princess, it's over way too fast. But hey, maybe the fast-paced romance was just not to my taste. Everyone is different, I guess. It is slightly more forgivable in this series, due to the fact that there is actually a plot alongside the romance plot that is developing, unlike in most of these kinds of stories, therefore it is to be expected that the romance gets slightly less page time.

The actual story, world-building, and writing were all of very high quality, and despite the speed, I did really enjoy this book and will be reading the sequel. It's just sad that I don't feel like I really got a proper fix of enemies to lovers.

This book does do a lot right though, and i think a lot of the people on my friend's list who read f/f would enjoy it.]]>

Here is another f/f book that I enjoyed. It had the princess/servant trope that I really like, coupled with enemies to lovers, which I'm also a huge fan of. However, I would say that the execution of the latter trope was a bit lacking for my tastes. I feel they went from enemies to lovers way too fast, and in doing so, lost some of that circling tension that you get when you slow things down a bit.

Mage Errant takes the progression fantasy formula and weaves it into a more traditional fantasy novel. It possesses a less intense leveling system compared to Cradle, lacking the rapid succession of stages and events. There is a greater emphasis on world-building, travel, and general fantasy elements, making it less instantly addictive. While Cradle injected raw power directly into your veins, Mage Errant feels more akin to The Stormlight Archive in terms of pacing, yet still retains the essence of progression fantasy. I must admit, I didn't resent this difference at all. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, the dynamics between the characters, and the unique powers they possessed. Surprisingly, there was also a well-executed romance subplot, which I always appreciate.

I'll keep this review concise, but the key points to take away from this series are:

An enjoyable and addictive power fantasy.
A group of friends fighting against the world.
An intriguing romance subplot.
Fascinating powers and an overpowered hero.
Excellent narration in the audiobook version.]]>

Did you, like me, feel like a desperate addict deprived of a fix when you finished Cradle? I enjoy indulging in progression fantasy occasionally, and Cradle was the pinnacle of that genre for me. So, when it came to an end, I experienced a profound sense of loss, knowing I would be searching for something to fill that void for a while. Allow me to assure you that The Mage Errant series, while not quite reaching the intoxicating heights of Cradle, is still an incredibly captivating and highly respectable progression fantasy series.

I believe this book receives undue criticism. The fantasy of having a sexy vampire woman shake up the life of a shy introverted man is quite popular among men. Just look at the reaction to the voluptuous vampire lady in Resident Evil; it practically became a meme.

Here's why I think it's receiving such negative reviews: this book is not what the Twilight fanbase wanted, and I can understand that. The male protagonist is weak, thin, and somewhat passive. It's clear that the 'fantasy' in this book revolves around the female vampire. Therefore, it's not surprising that the predominantly female and fiercely hetero Twilight fanbase didn't enjoy this book. However, women aren't the only ones who read romance, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. I know many other guys who did too. In fact, one of them is so grateful this book was written that he sent an email to Stephenie Meyer thanking her for creating it. It's rare for guys to come across this kind of reading material. Now, I wouldn't go as far as that; this is simply a fun read. It's by no means a masterpiece, but damn, I'm into the allure of sexy vampire women, and the dynamic of a human male with a supernatural female is practically a nonexistent trope. So, I treasure any books I find with that theme, and this book is no exception.

Would I recommend this book? I would say, if you're interested in a story that's essentially Twilight but with a female vampire and a human male instead of a human girl and male vampire, then definitely give this a shot. You probably already know if this book is for you. It's either your cup of tea or it's not. Personally, it was a no-brainer for me, but if you're unsure, you should know that it's purely a romance. There's literally zero plot; it's just a boy going to school and having a romance with a vampire woman. That's it. So, if you're not particularly fond of the romance dynamic, then this book might not be your thing. However, I will mention that I read this with the r/romance_For_men buddy read group, and everyone who participated really enjoyed it. So, if you think you might like it, it's worth giving it a shot.

Its slim pickings out there for male PNR romance fans, its a shame this book didn't perform better, as i would have loved to see more of this kinda thing written for us. ]]>

Despite the disappointing lack of the girl chasing the guy, I surprisingly enjoyed this book. It is well-written, funny at times, and the audible narration is well-executed. However, I must say that I've never read a book with such an abundance of male attention. It was quite amusing that the female protagonist seems to have gone through the entire ice hockey team. To give you an idea of how extensive this is, there's a point where not one, but three hockey players are flirting with her on the bench, and then a random player on the field gets injured. Suddenly, the protagonist recognizes him and remarks, "Oh wait, is that so-and-so? He's a lot bigger than when he fingered me in high school." I simply rolled my eyes because, of course. Keep in mind that she's also living with three other hockey players and romancing two of them. Additionally, every man, from random people in the hallway to her professor, is interested in her. As a male reader, it was sometimes hard to read, as I saw myself as Fitz. She would complain that he wasn't giving her his all, but at the same time, she had already agreed to go on a date with his best friend while flirting with literally everything that moved. But hey, I can't complain too much since I do enjoy reading the reverse scenario when male characters in books are fought over, and get lots of female attention. I acknowledge that I definitely wasn't the target audience for this book, and despite that, I surprisingly managed to enjoy it. I genuinely liked the female lead, and Brenna was a fun supporting character. I feel like I have read all the good girl chase guy books, and am now forced to read the few remaining ones that are written by women for women, and therefore I need to put up with some of the quirks that come with that, like pervy professors and best friend love triangles lol. But hey i recently read a book where there was a love triangle between a princess and her mother and the main character. So no judgement at all for this kind of thing, it just limited how much I personally enjoyed the book reading it from the male's perspective!

My biggest praise for the book would be that the author succeeds in making the fmc, feel perky and fun, her bubbly personality really comes across. My biggest complain was the way fitz the main love interest was written. His inability to communicate at times felt severely artificial, it felt like the author made him an asshole at times just so that the main character could pursue a romance with his best friend for a bit and then come back to him.

For me, this book was a three and a half stars. It's definitely more female-oriented than what I usually read, but as a fan of stories where the girl pursues the guy, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, despite being titled "The Chase," there isn't much chasing happening from the protagonist. Apart from the first chapter, it seems the author's idea of a chase is the female main character putting on a sexy dress and waiting for the male to pursue her. It reminds me of a funny quote my friend once told me about romance readers. We love to indulge in impossible scenarios when it comes to romance. Women read about vampires and billionaires with superpowers, while men enjoy stories about women making the first move. LOL!

<![CDATA[The Will of the Many (Hierarchy, #1)]]> 58416952 At the elite Catenan Academy, a young fugitive uncovers layered mysteries and world-changing secrets in this new fantasy series by internationally bestselling author of The Licanius Trilogy, James Islington.

AUDI. VIDE. TACE.

The Catenan Republic the Hierarchy may rule the world now, but they do not know everything.

I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilised society in allowing my strength, my drive and my focus what they call Will to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

I tell them that I belong, and they believe me.

But the truth is that I have been sent to the Academy to find answers. To solve a murder. To search for an ancient weapon. To uncover secrets that may tear the Republic apart.

And that I will never, ever cede my Will to the empire that executed my family.

To survive, though, I will still have to rise through the Academy’s ranks. I will have to smile, and make friends, and pretend to be one of them and win. Because if I cannot, then those who want to control me, who know my real name, will no longer have any use for me.

And if the Hierarchy finds out who I truly am, they will kill me.]]>

As for picking his girlfriend . . . well, that’s a split decision. Alexis and Kendra are opposites in almost every way.

Now, if he can just survive the nightwalker—an obsidian-skinned creature with a thirst for blood and a banshee’s mind-destroying scream, who wears a cloak black enough to make the grim reaper jealous—then he might have a chance.

Ultimately, protecting his loved ones, and himself if possible, becomes his priority.]]>

Beyond awaits a bewitching land where even the best of their hearts could betray them. Yet, Richard fears nothing so much as what secrets his sword might reveal about his own soul. Falling in love would destroy them—for reasons Richard can't imagine and Kahlan dare not say.

In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword—to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed . . . or that their time has run out.

Marcus' hero days are behind him. He knows too well that even the smallest war still means somebody's death. When his men are impressed into a doomed army, staying out of a battle he wants no part of requires some unorthodox steps.

Cithrin is an orphan, ward of a banking house. Her job is to smuggle a nation's wealth across a war zone, hiding the gold from both sides. She knows the secret life of commerce like a second language, but the strategies of trade will not defend her from swords.

Geder, sole scion of a noble house, has more interest in philosophy than in swordplay. A poor excuse for a soldier, he is a pawn in these games. No one can predict what he will become.

Falling pebbles can start a landslide. A spat between the Free Cities and the Severed Throne is spiraling out of control. A new player rises from the depths of history, fanning the flames that will sweep the entire region onto The Dragon's Path-the path to war.

Whilst there is a lot of action and interesting fantasy elements, i would say this series is primarily about relationships. You spend much of the total page time forming and developing these relationships, rather than fighting with swords or spells. I liked this because i read this more as a romance series than a fantasy series, but i got a good dose of both. I feel I would be remiss in my duties as a reviewer if i did not warn potential readers of a few things. The first controversial thing this series contains is a love triangle between the princess, the hero, and the princess's mother. This was a little odd for me, as can u imagine this scenario in real life? But i quickly got passed it, as the mother is such a funny, charming character that before long you will be rooting for her shameless flirtations! The second thing i should warn you about is that there is a lot here that could trigger potential romance readers, if you have read robin hobbs work you should have a good idea for what you are in for. Like Hob, Brian K Fuller likes to make you suffer along with the characters, and believe me, suffer you will. Your blood will boil at times, with righteous indignation at the injustices to the characters you love!

Overall a fantastic series that i highly recommend to pretty much everyone, its great fantasy, great romance, great characters and a great story. That inverts the chosen one prophesy trope that is so common. I look forward to reading more of Brian K Fullers work.]]>

I adored this series... literally adored it, Brian k Fuller always writes great romances. Im quite picky in the romance i enjoy, as i like powerful women who pursue the main character, which is not the norm for romance, and Brian delivers this.

As a male reader who likes powerful women with superpowers, traditional het romances often offer little too me, as usually, you have a weak self-insert female character and a fantastical powerful male. This dynamic does nothing for me in the slightest and is as dull as i can imagine. Unfortunately, there are very few supernatural heroine/human hero romances out there, and so I turned to f/f romance to try and scratch that itch! So you can imagine my delight, when perhaps unsurprisingly the queer pnr genre offers exactly what i like! Strong women, with cool abilities, defined and interesting personalities and heaps of charm. You will find all of that in this book, and i find myself wishing this was a series, as there is so much potential in the world Emily Noon has built here for follow-up books, with different pairings or adventures.

On the romance side of things, this book did so much right for me. Aurora was possessive and powerful, yet sweet and loving. With tsundere vibes, scent marking, no insta love, and no insta-sex which honestly is my least favourite thing when it comes to romance. My favourite line from the whole book has Auroras rubbing the main character's face with hers, and the fmc says "Aurora..are you sent marking me?" to which Aurora looks embraced, and says horrified "no! of course not...that would be awful!" Then they both burst out laughing because she totally was. The narrator (i listened to the audiobook) totally nailed the line and it was hilarious and did a great job of narrating in general, so if your an audiobook fan this one is a no-brainer. ]]>

When a raven tattoo rips itself from his arm to deliver a desperate message, Galharrow and a mysterious noblewoman must investigate a long dead sorcerer's legacy. But there is a conspiracy within the citadel: traitors, flesh-eaters and the ghosts of the wastelands seek to destroy them, but if they cannot solve the ancient wizard's paradox, the Deep Kings will walk the earth again, and all will be lost.

The war with the Eastern Empire ended in stalemate some eighty years ago, thanks to Nall's 'Engine', a wizard-crafted weapon so powerful even the Deep Kings feared it. The strike of the Engine created the Misery - a wasteland full of ghosts and corrupted magic that now forms a No Mans Land along the frontier. But when Galharrow investigates a frontier fortress, he discovers complacency bordering on treason: then the walls are stormed, and the Engine fails to launch. Galharrow only escapes because of the preternatural magical power of the noblewoman he was supposed to be protecting. Together, they race to the capital to unmask the traitors and restore the republic's defences. Far across the Misery a vast army is on the move, as the Empire prepares to call the republic's bluff.

<![CDATA[Of Blood and Fire (The Bound and the Broken, #1)]]> 56750401 Born in fire. Tempered in blood.

Epheria is a land divided by war and mistrust. The High Lords of the south squabble and fight, only kept in check by the Dragonguard, traitors of a time long past, who serve the empire of the North.

In the remote villages of southern Epheria, still reeling from the tragic loss of his brother, Calen Bryer prepares for The Proving—a test of courage and skill that not all survive.

But when three strangers arrive in the village of Milltown, with a secret they are willing to die for, Calen’s world is ripped from under him and he is thrust headfirst into a war that has been raging for centuries.

There is no prophecy. His coming was not foretold.

He bleeds like any man, and bleed he will.

<![CDATA[The Shadow of What Was Lost (The Licanius Trilogy, #1)]]> 22878967 It has been twenty years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs—once thought of almost as gods—were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets. A representation of these laws is now written into the flesh of any who use the Gift, forcing those so marked into absolute obedience.

As a student of the Gifted, Davian suffers the consequences of a war fought—and lost—before he was born. Despised by most beyond the school walls, he and those around him are all but prisoners as they attempt to learn control of the Gift. Worse, as Davian struggles with his lessons, he knows that there is further to fall if he cannot pass his final tests.

But when Davian discovers he has the ability to wield the forbidden power of the Augurs, he sets into motion a chain of events that will change everything. To the north, an ancient enemy long thought defeated begins to stir. And to the west, a young man whose fate is intertwined with Davian’s wakes up in the forest, covered in blood and with no memory of who he is…]]>

<![CDATA[Investigation, Mediation, Vindication (The Many Travails of John Smith #1)]]> 57520968 The stakes are real. The mediator isn't.

"Investigation, Mediation, Vindication." That's how the Yellow Pages ad starts, and if it sounds like the sort of thing a drunk teenager might come up with... well, you'd only be wrong about the teenager part. John Smith owns San Diego's smallest private investigation firm, but he doesn't know the first thing about mediation. Or vindication.

On the other side of town, vampire Lucia Borghesi is having a terrible century. Stripped of her throne and banished from Italy, she's now somehow found herself in a dispute with the local demigod of nightmares and terror. And to top it all off, the long-time city mediator has been assassinated and her second-in-command just hired a human to fill that role.

<![CDATA[Raconteur: Slice of Life Fantasy]]> 61543215 Henry would never have expected the count's beautiful buxom daughter to walk into his tavern, looking for refuge.

And when the Lady Garnet offered him a proposal, she probably didn’t expect Henry to have concocted a plan of his own.

See, the moment Garnet asked Henry to act as her betrothed—as some kind of game to shock her parents—he had it all mapped out.

He wouldn’t stop at her pretend proposal. He’d aim for a nobler seat, high above the counts, dukes and all. Power is a ladder, and Henry started climbing, two rungs at a time.

Oh, and if Garnet’s petite drow librarian friend would be coming along for the ride—in every way that meant—then so be it. But that wasn't all. The duchess, a thick, sensual redhead, was looking inquiringly at Henry too.

It turns out, when a lowly tavern owner talks his way into royalty, it can turn a head or two.

Though, there was one he wished wouldn't see him—a dark presence in the shadows, darting silently across the rooftops at night, hunting the members of aristocracy it deemed unworthy of the title.

Well, Henry thought himself worthy.

This novel contains an unconventional relationship, told in a slow burn, meaningful way. It gets heated in several scenes of a certain nature—you know the kind I mean.
It’s a slice-of-life progression story. The hero works his way up the noble line, one lady, duchess, and queen at a time.
There’s intrigue, secret plots, and mysteries to solve. You won’t see the twists coming, I assure you.]]>

<![CDATA[Beware of Chicken (Beware of Chicken, #1)]]> 60888209 A laugh-out-loud, slice-of-life martial-arts fantasy about . . . farming????

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body.

Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here.

Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster. I’m not used to seeing a chicken move with such grace . . . but Qi makes everything kind of wonky, so it’s probably fine.

Instead of a lifetime of battle, my biggest concerns are building a house, the size of my harvest, and the way the girl from the nearby village glares at me when I tease her.

A slow, simple, fulfilling life in a place where nothing exciting or out of the ordinary ever happens . . . right?

The first volume of the blockbuster progression-fantasy series—with more than 16 million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!]]>

Herald of Shalia 50233141
Sebastian Frost’s most recent memory was waking up in a field naked, in a body that wasn’t his own, in a world that definitely wasn’t his own, and three stunning pointy-eared women staring right at him. He also remembered hair as white as starlight, eyes like amethysts, and the name Shalia.

Fortunately, it was the right name to know.

Shalia was the elves goddess and that made him her herald. If that wasn’t enough of a blessing, he was in a game world, he was high level, he had hundreds of ability points to spend, and the elves were practically throwing themselves at him.

Of course, there was a catch.

Shalia, her followers, and now Frost himself were viewed by the world as bringers of misfortune and everybody hated them. Although, to be fair, Frost was going to rain misfortune on anybody who attempted to harm his lovable new followers.

Herald of Shalia is a fun fantasy LitRPG by Tamryn Tamer and contains attention starved elves, beast-girl courtesans, foul language, twosomes threesomes and foursomes, and completely over the top love making. You've been warned.

Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

For hundreds of years, the Witch King's sword has been buried in stone awaiting the next hand to draw it.

Many have tried. None have succeeded.

Gwen is the last in a long line of De Montfort witches whose duty it is to protect the sword of all power. But when she returns to King Island to perform the blessing, a mysterious pulse of blue light tells her that someone has attempted to draw the sword. Before she can investigate any further, demons attack. She only survives with the help of a mysterious stranger who disappears as quickly as he appears.

Gwen and her grandmother, Moscelyne, soon discover that minor gateways into Darkside--the traditional home of both demons and dark elves--are being forced open by magic. Even worse, someone is now sending demons after the Witch King's heirs.

As vital artifacts are stolen by Darkside and the deaths draw altogether too close to home, Gwen and Mo--with the help of old gods and an ancient order of knights once thought dead--scramble to unravel the clues and stop the murderous would-be king from claiming the crown.

If they fail and the wrong hand draws the sword of power, he can unlock the main gateway into Darkside and unleash utter hell onto an unsuspecting and unprepared England....]]>

The Honor of Duty 56197455
One that called to the familial bonds and the importance of putting those above all else. Second only to the land and the crown.

If he was being honest with himself, Phillip valued that code of honor. It was something the Curis family was known for. An honorable military family led by a Duchess, Phillip’s grandmother.

That code, the honor of duty, is about to be tested in Phillip.

He and it will be put through the forge of conflict and forced to become either hardened, or terribly brittle.

On the day of his formal marriage agreement, Phillip’s family is called to war.

What would have been a celebration now turns to a swift goodbye as his family rolls into action. Sharpening swords, mending armor, and readying horses to fight for the queen.

Being sent off quickly as there was no time to waste.

Now Phillip will need to adapt to his new in-laws and family members, a mercantile family of great worth but no noble standing. Their marriage to him will rise them up to the lowest strata of the nobility, but still nobility.

At the same time, Phillip will have to navigate through the murky political waters of the new city he’ll now call home. As well as fight to carve out a role for himself that fits his desire.

All while hopefully growing to understand his wife - whom he had only just met. A young woman his own age named Alice.

Cunning and bright, she’s nearly ready to take over the family mercantile business as a whole.

Armed with his intelligence, his uncanny ability to read people, and his stubborn nature, Phillip has to become his own man, and define how his code will fit in his new life.

Regardless of what anyone else wants of him.

Warning and minor spoiler: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Read at your own risk.]]>

When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals.

But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs. As his powers are gradually discovered by the court, Fin finds himself involved in a slew of intrigues: going head-to-head with knights with less-than-chivalrous intentions, helping to protect the pregnant queen, fending off the ire of the royal mage, and uncovering a spy in the castle. And that’s only the beginning—because Fin’s past is catching up with him just as his love life is getting complicated . . .]]>

This book took a while to grab me, but around the 30% mark, it really took hold. It feels like i read the first book in about 2 hours, it was just that good. This is a true revenge story, the main character is fully in the grips of rage, to an unhealthy and obsessive level. I would say this book starts to feel a lot like the way of kings or the name of the wind in its quality and level of thrill. This is high high praise for me, as those are two of my favourite series. The action is phenomenal, and you will really be rooting for the characters after a while. However, i would say that there is perhaps less magic than i would prefer, though that is just personal preference.

I am also delighted to say that there is a very satisfying romance subplot throughout this series that i really enjoyed! Followers of my reviews know that I love a good romance subplot, especially when they involve a high-status fmmc and low-status mmc (at least at the start). You will definitely get that here, and it's done well! I wont say more because of spoilers but i think fans of fantasy romance will enjoy this for sure.

Cinder Shade’s life begins on a fateful afternoon at the bottom of a well where he awakens, bruised, battered, and bereft of all memory. His only understanding is a driving imperative—to protect those who can’t defend themselves and become a warrior worthy of the name.

He discovers within himself a peculiar gift, one in which the codes of combat are made evident and the language of steel is made clear. When he earns a place at a prestigious elven warrior academy, Cinder fights to enhance his knowledge and perhaps even humble the proud elves who believe no human is their equal.

His hard-earned skills are put to the test when strange rumblings emanate from deep in the Dagger Mountains. Monsters out of myth emerge. And so does something far worse . . .

Fate had a funny joke for him, though.
He died.
Unexpectedly he was given the strangest of plot developments. He resurrected in what seemed to be a GACHA game
Being given another chance on another world. One where he could redefine himself, starting with an unknown class of all things.
Andric can only roll with it since there really isn’t any other choice.
It’s time to start again and this time he’ll have to get risky, take chances, and let luck play a part.
Regardless if it’s good or bad.
First up for that new life motto is his class and he’s definitely taking a risk.
Unknowingly, he’s given up on a typical RGP character development in favor of an unconventional class where his powers hinge on the luck of the draw.

Fairy Tale 62324702
Legendary storyteller Stephen King goes deep into the well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higher—for their world or ours.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was ten, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is seventeen, he meets Howard Bowditch, a recluse with a big dog in a big house at the top of a big hill. In the backyard is a locked shed from which strange sounds emerge, as if some creature is trying to escape. When Mr. Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie the house, a massive amount of gold, a cassette tape telling a story that is impossible to believe, and a responsibility far too massive for a boy to shoulder.

Because within the shed is a portal to another world—one whose denizens are in peril and whose monstrous leaders may destroy their own world, and ours. In this parallel universe, where two moons race across the sky, and the grand towers of a sprawling palace pierce the clouds, there are exiled princesses and princes who suffer horrific punishments; there are dungeons; there are games in which men and women must fight each other to the death for the amusement of the “Fair One. And there is a magic sundial that can turn back time.

A story as old as myth, and as startling and iconic as the rest of King’s work, Fairy Tale is about an ordinary guy forced into the hero’s role by circumstance, and it is both spectacularly suspenseful and satisfying.]]>
