Samantha Downing’s outstanding, smart, and entertaining debut thriller keeps you on your toes—and makes you realize you’ve bitten all your nails by the end!

Welcome aboard your crazy train ride! Your destination? A quiet suburban town, where you’ll meet a seemingly perfect family of four: a charming real estate agent wife, a tennis instructor husband, and their two smart, beautiful kids. But—surprise!—nothing is as it seems. You’re about to meet one of the most dysfunctional families out there.

Not Shameless or Weeds levels of dysfunctional—this couple’s problems go far beyond that. They’re trapped in the monotony of daily life: endless bills, demanding kids, and unfulfilling jobs. All work, no play. So, what’s their solution to break the cycle of boredom? Finding a new hobby—organizing the murders of young women.

This book is as unconventional as its disturbing characters. Millicent, the lovely wife, earns her place as one of the most chilling, blood-freezing sociopaths in thriller history. (Seriously, she is the danger—Walter White looks like a Disney character next to her.)

This brilliant page-turner is completely addictive. You won’t want to stop reading. It makes you paranoid, it makes you afraid to turn off the lights, and it gives you goosebumps.

The twists are masterfully executed, the dark humor is razor-sharp, and the conclusion? Absolutely shocking. A promising debut—I truly enjoyed it!

My head still hurts like I tossed it against the wall a thousand times, and I started to see cartoon stars as soon as I finished this one! I cannot say I’m speechless because I’ve forgotten the four languages I knew (including my native one), so I’m out of words.

This revolutionary, innovative, and creative book makes you think deeply, feel thrilled, and numb your mind! It makes you question your values and morals. At some points, I felt like a jury member, pondering which was worse: being the decision-maker of someone’s fate or being stuck inside a death trap car when all of your skeletons in the closet are revealed one by one.

I really doubt that Mr. Marrs is from this planet because he has outsmarted most of the genius writers with this book. He is incredibly talented and knows how to deceive readers with his conspiratorial moves and amazing twists.

I liked "One" a lot, but I liked "Passengers" so much more!

This is the most surprising and exhilarating book I’ve ever enjoyed! It really exhausted me because it was not an easy adventure for anyone!

When the prince discovers Isabelle’s deception, she is turned away in shame. It’s no more than she deserves: she is a plain girl in a world that values beauty; a feisty girl in a world that wants her to be pliant.

Isabelle has tried to fit in. To live up to her mother’s expectations. To be like her stepsister. To be sweet. To be pretty. One by one, she has cut away pieces of herself in order to survive a world that doesn’t appreciate a girl like her. And that has made her mean, jealous, and hollow.

Until she gets a chance to alter her destiny and prove what ugly stepsisters have always known: it takes more than heartache to break a girl.]]>

This retelling collides with the doctrines of The Art of War and feminist theory, creating an intelligent, stunningly crafted fantasy.

Who would have thought a Cinderella story could be so refreshingly new? We all know the traditional tale: the beautiful, kind-hearted heroine wins the prince and her “happily ever after. In that world, beauty equates to goodness, and ugliness to cruelty or failure.

But what if the rules changed? What if beauty wasn’t the only way to earn a happy ending? What if bravery, intelligence, hard work, determination, creativity, and leadership could redefine fate?

Isabelle and Tavi, the “ugly stepsisters who once tried to ruin Ella’s life, are now punished and abandoned, scorned by their own townspeople. But who is uglier—the judgmental, biased townsfolk, or the sisters who simply obeyed their mother’s misguided teachings and now feel remorse for their actions?

Everyone has Fate and Choice. But are we bound to our fates, or can we claim free will?

This book explores the right of women to reject judgment based on appearances and to shape themselves into whoever they choose to be. It’s not just another fairy-tale retelling; it’s a witty, empowering story about what women truly deserve.

And the twist? It turns everything we thought we knew on its head. The beautiful, kind-hearted queen can transform into a villain if jealousy darkens her heart.

Isabelle, our unconventional heroine, captured my heart with her strength, honesty, and fighting spirit. She knows she made mistakes and learns from them. She accepts who she is, realizing that she alone holds the power to shape her fate.

“Most people will fight when there’s some hope of winning, no matter how slim. They are called BRAVE. Only a few will keep fighting when all hope is gone. They are called WARRIORS. Isabelle was a warrior once but she had forgotten it.

This book is a wake-up call to find yourself, to embrace your talents and inner strength. Don’t let the inner wolf—the part of you that yearns to break free—tear you apart by caging it. Set it free, take risks, and don’t let fate control you.

A perfect quote to sum it all up:

“This is the world—the people in it, my mother, Tantine—they sort us. They put us in crates. ‘You are an egg. You are a potato. You are a cabbage. They tell us who we are, what we will do, what we will be.
“Because they’re afraid! Afraid of what we could be, Tavi said.
“But we let them do it! Hugo said angrily. “Why?
Tavi gave him a rueful smile. “Because we’re afraid of what we could be, too.

So don’t be afraid of who you are or of your potential. Embrace yourself, love yourself, and strive to become the best version of you by taking control of your destiny.]]>

"I Know Who You Are" is a compelling psychological thriller that delves deep into the murkiest corners of fame, deception, and the fragility of identity. Unfortunately, I had a really hard time connecting with the main character and feeling even a tiny particle of empathy for her. The triggering subjects and abusive situations in this book are also hard to digest, which is another reason I didn't quite enjoy my reading and had to take breaks due to feeling queasy. My poor stomach couldn't handle what was written on the pages.

Let's take a closer look at the main plot: The story revolves around Aimee Sinclair, a successful actress with a seemingly perfect life. She has fame, fortune, and a devoted husband. However, her world shatters when her husband goes missing, and she is thrust into a nightmarish journey of self-discovery and sinister revelations.
To be fair, one of the strengths of this novel is its unreliable narrator. Aimee's perspective keeps shifting, and the reader is left questioning her reliability as she grapples with memory lapses and haunting recollections. This narrative device adds layers of intrigue to the story, forcing readers to constantly reevaluate what they think they know. However, I believe the readers are kept in the dark for too long, and the repetitive cycle can make your eyes roll as you yearn to cut to the chase and find out the biggest twist.

This book is a rollercoaster of a thriller that takes you on a journey through the darkest recesses of the human psyche. While it may not reach the same heights as Feeney's debut novel, it still delivers a gripping and satisfying read. The shocking twists and turns keep you guessing until the very end, and the final revelation will leave you breathless.

In summary, Alice Feeney's "I Know Who You Are" is a chilling exploration of identity and deception, wrapped in a tightly woven psychological thriller. My inability to connect with the main character, the harsh and excessively dark sensitive subjects, and the far-fetched, unreliable conclusion left me thinking that this is an okay read, but I was expecting so much more from my queen of twists.

This might be the only Alice Feeney book that I gave less than five stars (I even dropped my rating to 2 and then rounded up to 2.5 because, even though the last twist of the book was jaw-droppingly weird and too far-fetched, it was still truly shocking).

Recursion 42046112 Memory makes reality.

That's what NYC cop Barry Sutton is learning, as he investigates the devastating phenomenon the media has dubbed False Memory Syndrome—a mysterious affliction that drives its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived.

That's what neuroscientist Helena Smith believes. It's why she's dedicated her life to creating a technology that will let us preserve our most precious memories. If she succeeds, anyone will be able to re-experience a first kiss, the birth of a child, the final moment with a dying parent.

As Barry searches for the truth, he comes face to face with an opponent more terrifying than any disease—a force that attacks not just our minds, but the very fabric of the past. And as its effects begin to unmake the world as we know it, only he and Helena, working together, will stand a chance at defeating it.

But how can they make a stand when reality itself is shifting and crumbling all around them?

At once a relentless pageturner and an intricate science-fiction puzzlebox about time, identity, and memory, Recursion is a thriller as only Blake Crouch could imagine it—and his most ambitious, mind-boggling, irresistible work to date.]]>

Five OMG I’m suffering from brain cells bleeding and explosion of my last standing grey cells, what the hell I just read and who am I ? stars!

I know the drill but let me rephrase one more time! This is not an easy, soft, sunshine and rainbows reading!

In my opinion people who are brave enough to dive into this journey should put themselves an IQ test and discover their cognitive skills. ( luckily I read the quantum physics for dummies before the beginning but I feel like I can be great cast for future dumb and dumber movie if they will ever produce the third installment)

So this book is amazing combination of time traveling, alternated lifetimes, Minority Reports meet Groundhog Day versus Black Mirror and Back to the Future kinda fascinating science fiction crashes into thriller and romance starting with an effective and memorable suicide attempt scene.
A woman suffers from FMS ( false memory syndrome) who thinks her child was being erased, her husband denied her existence so there was nothing better than jump and end her life. But she had small hope in her heart, her husband could come to rescue her but when he didn’t show up, she didn’t want to fight anymore and.... Yes, this book starts with jaw dropping scene and you’re hooked!

It’s addictive, unputdownable, nerve damaging, exhausting ride! You wanna know what’s going to happen and think about yourself if I had a chance to save my loved ones by turning back and making my wrongs turn into rights, what would happen!

Saving her daughter from the traffic accident, curing your mother’s Alzheimer disease, prevention of school shooting , saving soldiers from the terrorist attacks are just the samples writer show as in alternative realities that have possible to be changed!

The difference of Recursion from Dark Matter might be romance parts because I really enjoyed Barry and Helena’s love story. Not only they fought to bring universe into the right pattern but also they fought to get back together to be each other’s final word, everlasting love, end game!

This was thrilling, mind bending, provoking book!
Dark Matters is going to be Netflix series and I’m already sure that as a brain numbing project, this book finds its place at big screen on near future!

Highly recommended, smart, different, unique and exquisite book but not for everyone!

The Girl in Red 42881101 A postapocalyptic take on the perennial classic "Little Red Riding Hood", about a woman who isn't as defenseless as she seems.

It's not safe for anyone alone in the woods. There are predators that come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn't look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

There are worse threats in the woods than the things that stalk their prey at night. Sometimes, there are men. Men with dark desires, weak wills, and evil intents. Men in uniform with classified information, deadly secrets, and unforgiving orders. And sometimes, just sometimes, there's something worse than all of the horrible people and vicious beasts combined.

Red doesn't like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn't about to let herself get eaten up just because she is a woman alone in the woods....]]>

This book is gruesome, reminds of us so many “The world is ending and contagious virus theme projects starting from Bird Box ( Just like movie version the two children accompany Red are he and “she just like Sandra Bullock call them), 28 days later, so much better version of Shymalan’s “Happening ( the situation of abandoned houses, stores with full of dead people), Sodenberg’s ”Contagion and finally this is not the dystopian movie but as it is admitted on the book, the creature’s technique of ripping apart of the people’s abdomens is totally great tribute to Ridley Scott’s “Alien!

We have a remarkable heroine like younger but definitely rougher and tougher version of Sarah Connor( mostly the second movie and ore muscled version) meets girl version of Mad Max( let’s say Maxine )!

When I was a child I have read too many Grimm Brothers nightmarish fairy-tales and I was also disappointed about the naivety of red riding hood ( she cannot differentiate her grandma from a wolf, come on Red! Wear glasses!) but this super version of her , Red so smart, also intelligent ( a book worm, know-it-all kinda girl like Hermione Granger), a loner, isolated one because she has hard times to trust people completely. At more parts she makes you think she is the protector of her own family. She never acts like a young girl, she’s old soul, always calculating every move, knowing how to use sharp objects, she’s born as fighter and survivor.

Amazing heroine, gripping, fast paced story-telling, nonstop action capture your attention and hook you from the beginning. You don’t want to put it down. ( I confess I let my husband feed me at the dinner when I was frantically turning the pages! At least I was having sushi )
For most parts of the book I wanted to raise my punch at the air and scream Yessss! Atta girl!, some parts made my stomach churned, but at the end I can hear my own evil laughs because I enjoyed it.

Only the unanswered questions about the government experiments and the cause of the contagion a little disturbed my mind. But this book is about Red’s story and her surviving fight to reach to her grandma’s house.

I love the ending! Never ending action, thrilling, captivating, shocking parts. I already added gruesome versions of Alice and Peter Pan’s stories. I need to read more from the author because I had so much fun!]]>

400 Suzanne Young 1534426132 Nilufer 5 This book is definitely a combination of Ira Levin’s Stepford Wives and Michael Crichton’s Westworld. It’s an inspirational example of dystopian thriller! I held my breath, bite my nails, cursed the characters but I couldn’t put it down as if my eyes and hands were glued to the book. It was so exciting, exhausting and definitely nerve-recking experience but interestingly I enjoyed it so much!
Especially the last twist was memorable! You may foresee, expect or not, it was good one!

Wicked Little Words 32593030 I want them all to read my words. And they do. Every last blood-stained sentence, they've read and praised me for. They love the gore and violence, the realness. And I get a sense of power with it all because I know a secret: the victims in my books—they’re real and have all died on my table. And maybe that’s why the last book had such awful reviews. Murder is, after all, a dirty little thing. Some can stomach it. Others can’t. My answer to those reviews: find a woman to co-author with. To be the next pathetic character in my book. Pity she’s so pretty.

Miranda Cross
All I’ve ever wanted was to be successful as a writer so when I was offered the opportunity to co-author a book with my idol, EA Mercer, I jumped at the chance. He’s beautiful and a literary genius, but something about him makes my stomach knot. And maybe it’s my overactive imagination making my hairs stand on end when he walks up behind me.
After all, these wicked little words we’re typing are only fiction. They’re only fiction…]]>
260 Stevie J. Cole Nilufer 5 Mostly I can predict this kind of twist because in real life I question every nook and crannies. And guess what, the writer pulled out the rug from under my feet. I’m still sitting on the ground with a sucker punched expression of my face.
And I’m also giving ten shiny stars to playlist. The choices are soooo freaking good! ( From Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails to 21 Pilots, are you kidding me?)
Yeap, I need a drink right now! Not my regular Cabernet, something strong. And I also need lots of ice! My face still hurts after writers punch 😃😃😃]]>

OMG!!! Till the last 20 pages, I was so frustrated for choosing this book, I was planning to give it hardly three stars. I was also confused why the readers have written so much good reviews about this book! But then, yes you can sense what I’m saying I didn’t see it coming!!!

Buried in Lies 36153814 His hands touched like we were old lovers.
His eyes held secrets of a past I’d never known.
I was lost, you see.
Lost as the flowers that grew in the meadow.
The devil told me he knew me.
But lies had a way of unraveling, even if we didn’t want them to.
The devil had a trick, for his love was full of acid. Acid that burned at every touch, every linger, and I let it scorch me to my core.
A devil made you sin. And my devil was the worst.
But now that devil wanted my last kiss, and it wasn't one I was willing to give.
He could take the acid and leave the burn behind.
I was keeping my heart even if I died trying.

193 T.L. Smith Nilufer 4 wtf-i-just-read Interesting storyline, compelling character development,
great heroine who acts like naive lamb, hiding her inner lion perfectly, confused, broken but charismatic hero!
Don’t forget Taj, deceiving, dangerous but alluring character. And of course our irritating, disturbing woman villain who is also sister of our hero!]]>
