TerKeurst has good, practical, solid advice based on personal experience that makes it clear that she's "walked the walk" with us. Learning of her personal struggles, and of her divorce and remarriage after this book published apparently discredited her to some readers, but lent credibility to me as she admits to personal struggles and emotional issues I could relate to. Wishing her happiness and healin of her own as she offers the same to her readers.

I actually read this book in 1993 (I was 17) and have reread it so many times that it's taped together. I so wish that they wrote YA novels like this! I even point to Christopher Pike as my inspiration to become a writer. The thing I love about this book is the twist at the end, although you go through the entire book feeling that the 'stories within the story' are winding around one another. Oh yes, I'll read this again.

All I know to say is wow - this is an amazing book. The mini series follows the book fairly well, but of course the book has a lot more backstory and explanation than the TV series. I call this a "must read" for anyone. Even if you don't usually don't read horror or Stephen King, I think you should make an exception for this book because it isn't his "typical" work. If you liked the Left Behind Series, I think you should give this take on the end of the world a try. Outstanding book!

This was interesting. It gave me a broader perspective on The Bible and the context of the history of our faith. The gnostic gospels can make your head spin and, of course, all of this is open to interpretation. I feel that it's beneficial for Christians to read because we can learn a lot from the text here that wasn't accepted into cannon, although I do recommend reading with great discresion and discernment.
