Anita Pomerantz | 9163 comments Please vote for the tag you would most like to read for April at the following link:

You may click on the answer choices in the survey to see a listing of books that fit each tag.

Remember, you may cast up to a total of 10 participation points for your choice. Everyone gets one vote for free so please vote even if you don't have any participation points!

You can see how many participation points you currently have in the spreadsheet below.

Happy voting! Please cast your votes by 12 pm EST on 03/24.

Note: If no one choice receives more than 50% of the vote, people who chose the least popular choice will be asked to recast their votes for one of the remaining two options.

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) Voted. It would be funny/ironic if Italian won this time since we're doing Ireland this month. Although, that's not the one I voted for.

message 6: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12715 comments Voted, but can I please note that at halfway through the month I still have yet to hit Ireland? I have still been stuck in Shushan, although I should be finished today! This is like close to two weeks in early Persia! Well worth it, though!

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 661 comments I have exactly one book tagged "photography", and that's Miss Peregrine's. Seeing as I read it for our "quirky" month, I think its safe to say I will not be voting for photography.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8298 comments The site is so wonky right now, I can't even check the shelves to see what I might be most interest in ... S*I*G*H

I'm pretty sure which one I will NOT be voting for, but would like to check the other two shelves before casting my vote.

Hope this GR glitch is fixed soon ...

I expect that photography will be the least popular, but we only ever learn what actually wins, so only the moderators every know for sure...

I saw on Twitter that the glitch has been fixed now.

I'm so behind on this month- haven't even started a book for Ireland yet. If I'm still so behind towards the end of the month A Modest Proposal will be my quick go-to to make sure I fulfill March.

message 13: by Susie (new)

Susie Voted. I took the easy option this month as there will be a huge range we can choose from.

Actually, only Anita knows for sure! (Or Nicole, if she's tallying for the month!) :-)

Same here, though it's a bit longer since I read it. The next one I can find is a couple of pages down - the second book in that series. Very uninspiring. But would definitely be the biggest challenge.

message 18: by Michael (new)

Michael (mike999) | 569 comments Just have to lobby not to take the easy choice. Challenge yourself a bit.

message 19: by Sushicat (last edited Mar 15, 2017 09:27PM) (new)

Sushicat | 820 comments I actually prefer narrow tags, because of the challenge. But I must admit this one puts me off.

I guess it's the fact that the books listed are books I like to browse in, but not really like to read straight through. Even when I think of a recommendation I come up with the browsing kind of book: Hungry Planet.

message 20: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) I voted, and I'm sorry to say I went for the easiest choice. I really love photography books, but they are extremely expensive and I'm pretty sure I would find none in my local library.
Like Charlie, I started the year really well, but lost myself in the way this month - I have too many things going on!

message 21: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 1921 comments Photography is one of my stairs, although I am probably the only one that voted for it. There are some great biographies out there of photographers such as (Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis and Choice of Weapons.

Booknblues | 11667 comments Cora wrote: "Photography is one of my stairs, although I am probably the only one that voted for it. There are some great biographies out there of photographers such as (Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher..."

It may have been your review that encouraged me to read Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher, and I've read several other books which I consider worthy which would fall under the photography catagory including the book I'm currently reading, Celine.

I think the choices were really interesting this month, but I voted for photography as well because there was one book on that list that really appealed to me.

message 23: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9163 comments For those of you despairing about not getting to Ireland yet - - the month is only half over! You can do it! Pick something short, fast, and fun.

Hungry Planet
Material World: A Global Family Portrait
What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Diets
Are all really good and informative books by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio in the photography genre.

And BooknBlues, They live in Napa.

Nicole | 661 comments Has anyone else contemplated how much their TBR would grow if 'bestsellers' wins? *deep sigh* To think I once despaired over not knowing what to read, now I just can't decided what to read next! ;)

message 32: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12715 comments I need to know which of the three ladies is Nicole. It's sort of driving me crazy. Are these your sisters? Best friends? And who is the girl with the baby? And I assume all of these are Nicole. Wasn't there two boys at one point? Forgive my curiosities and wondering's. It's just sometimes hard to keep up.

It looked like most of the first page of bestsellers were either already read or already on my TBR, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

message 34: by Amy (new)

I am the one in the middle
They are my BESTIES BESTIES BESTIES ... this pic is from my 50th birthday in Vegas.
Girl with the baby was also me, I think. It was me with my baby cousin Dominic. (Purple shirt? )

I'm guessing that this is what you are referring to. Haha. Not sure about 2 boys. My profile pics change with my Facebook profile pics.

Oh ... curve ball --- here comes another.

Hahahaha! The three ladies in your picture! I thought she was referring to Nicole (no last name), me, and you (Nikki D).

Amy | 12715 comments Nicole the Rhode Island Marine Biogist turned lawyer, lover of Nora Roberts, who no longer shows her face to us, who listens in the car and has two other book forms going, and who will truly disown me if I mention not liking a certain book, I know exactly who you are. You are unforgettable, and lovely, and a spitfire... my memory for you is long and clear!

I am so confused. I know you and a Nicole from another board. Who is the third one and if she is also simply Nicole here it could explain a few things...(some people change their Avatars so it's easier to remember the name).

message 47: by LibraryCin (last edited Mar 18, 2017 11:33AM) (new)

LibraryCin | 11504 comments Karin, there is Nicole R (as I'm sure you know), Nicole, who posted directly above you (used to be Nicole D on shelfari), and the third Nicole I know of in this group is also just "Nicole" and has a pink flower avatar. I'll post this, then back up and see if she's posted in this thread.

ETA: See Nicole in message 31.

message 48: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 661 comments That'd be me! My avatar never changes but I could add a last initial if it would make it easier. Though that is about to change in July, upcoming nuptials :)
