Okay so, I had been going through a reading slumb and a murder mystery/ thriller novel usually gets me out of it well, and this book, although it did that but it the ending was quite underwhelming. I picked up a horror book because 1. I haven't really read much horror and wanted to see if it can make me feel as scared as a horror movie might, 2. I have read "the house across the lake" which is another Riley Sagar book which I liked. I felt this book, although it kept me engaged but I'd give the credit to it being a mystery novel, which is a genre I'm known to devour. The story goes as, there's this girl called maggie and her entire revolved around a horror book her father wrote which was based on true events, it did trouble her and she ended up in the house (Baneberry Hall) where her father's story was based, turns out in the end that her father's story was purely fictional trying to cover something up. It works good as a mystery novel but as a horror novel it fails to make me scared due to the fact that it's a fictional horror novel inside a fictional horror novel. ]]>
