The Berry Pickers fell pretty flat for me. It wasn’t a hard read nor particularly slow. It just missed the mark. There were a lot of characters, but little character development. Told from the dual perspectives of Norma(Ruthie), the kidnapped child, and her Joe, the last person to see her before she was kidnapped. Both are tortured souls; but Peter’s doesn’t really develop them. In terms of plot, there isn’t much of one. This novel could have been so much more.
