Horror usually not my cup of tea, but historical horror on the other hand...
This is an eerie atmospheric story not just reveals unknown chapters of American history but proves again that humans are the worst monsters possible.
The novel is gripping from the first page and gradually takes a read on a journey into madness. A small town in a middle of a deathly plain where nature takes more lives that infamous monster. it's inhabitants who have nothing to lose but their humanity and it slips off as soon as winter winds blow off the last warmth. And, of course, lone women who must fight not just harsh environment but constant prejudice as well.
Familiar story in the original setting with great characters.
