Jake, Tori & Ryder

Life is a balancing act for the third grade teacher and the new school principal and her son. The parent/child, teacher/student, boss/employee relationships are shifting constantly for Jake, Tori and her son Ryder as the family, school, town and The Homestead all are adjusting to the new folk in town. Many relationships start off a bit rocky, especially Jake and Tori who experience an instant static charge when they meet. Ryder has just as many issues with classmates and needs help to find a situation that feels like 'home'.
I loved how everyone worked through their problems in a straightforward manner and the adults were able to admits mistakes they had made, properly admit fault and ask forgiveness.

Still fresh and new feeling

This boxset concludes the Bull Mountain Ranch series, Ms.Michaels' fifth series of insta-love, mountain men drawn to their soulmate, their One, by the mountain spirits that reward the protectors of the land by providing for all their needs, including someone special to live and be loved by.
I am constantly amazed by the uniqueness of the characters and their situations. I really expected the trope to get exhausted long before this, but quite the contrary. Every book, every coupke is fresh and new, and faces their own set of challenges to answer and complete the Call of the mountain spirit and find their own happily ever after.

Great series in boxset

I thought this was a great series by Marley Michaels, as she moved away from her starting point at Moose Mountain with the Cooper brothers and cousins, and it was made even better by being gathered in a boxset for the first half of the series.
This series is set at The Homestead on Bear Mountain, the next major peak in the chain of mountains near the sough coast of Alaska. The Homestead is a self-sufficient, eco-concious community near the peak of Bear and the hot spring where the mountain spirit dwells. I loved seeing these five, very unique men find their equally unique soulmate.

Huxley & Grace

Culture came to Bear Mountain when injured ballerina Grace relocates to Alaska to open a dance studio. I thought the idea of starting over out of the place with all the memories was a smart idea. Better still was Grace CHOOSING to be open minded about the possibilities now open to her. I love how Huxley pushed himself past his social anxiety to connect with her. It was easy to see his confidence grow with every interaction he had with her.

Childhood crush

I think this best friends-to- soulmates trope is my favorite. I have to agree with Mason that the best relationships start with best friends. Like Mason and Paige, I fell in love with my One almost before I had a clue of what love is about.
I love how that friendship base provides incentive that helps hold the relationship together through the times of trial. It is true that there is too much to lose to walk away, or let the other walk away without making an extra effort to 'fix' things.
There are just so many, many things -- all the happy, sad, painful, elated, lusty and tender feelings -- I identified with in this book. I am always surprised at how many different and unique ways that the author uses to bring her couples together. These books never grow old.

No Bear-icorns allowed

There is one in every family. A member who just refuses to march in step. Mash is the former non-believer in the 'spirit' of Bear Mountain. Until Canadian artist Indy shows up in town.
Nash's Homestead brothers decide that the entry road sign needs replaced, and Nash should be in charge of the project. One of the concepts included a rainbow and bears with unicorn horns on either end!
It was hysterical to watch Nash try to backpedal on his skepticism when he is suddenly face to face with his One. It was equally entertaining to see how calmly Indy accepted his explanation of the mountain lore.

Walker & Faith

In this second book of the Bear Mountain series, Faith arrives for her bestie, Serena's wedding to Brady, and encounters Walker. Walker is ready amd waiting for his turn for the mountain spirit's Call.
I loved that both main characters were were quite happy to have been paired up with each other by the mountain. They actively sought ways to bring their lives into harmony. I found the conflict with Faith's editor boss very believable, and his despicable actions quite in keeping with his line of business. I truly enjoy watching the Homestead grow as the Ones are called to the mountain.

It is a new mountain calling in this third series of Marley Michaels' Alaskan mountain man romances The mother of the mountain has delivered her first child and the mountaon spirit has called the soulmate of the Homestead leader.
Serena is the perfect One for Brady. Her interest and passion for environmental sustainability is aperfect compliment to the philosophy underlying the structure and organization of the Bear Mountain Homestead commune. I loved that all the founding members were equally committed to the communal nature of this mountain community.
