I devoured this book. Like, tore through it. I went in completely blind, just in the mood for some magic and angst and WOW. I was not prepared to fall this hard. The magic? Mesmerizing. The drama and politics? Deliciously tense. The world-building? Chef’s kiss. From page one, the tension between groups had me locked in. That kind of setup instantly makes a fantasy feel dangerous, unpredictable, and deeply emotional. I couldn’t wait to pick it up every day, and the slow burn? It worked so well. The pacing gave every scene weight, and every detail felt intentional.

Let’s talk Diem. Our fiery, impulsive FMC with platinum icy blonde hair (seriously, hair goals). She makes some questionable choices but honestly? I get it. She’s angry, she’s powerful, and she’s barely holding it together. I was side-eyeing her sometimes, but also cheering her on like “Yes, queen, cause chaos.�� Her powers kept me guessing the entire time and I loved that air of mystery around her arc.

And then there's Luther. Dark, brooding, scarred, emotionally complex Luther. Swoon. I looked up fan art so quick.....zero regrets. From the moment he showed up with that classic “touch her and die�� vibe, I was hooked. Protective without being controlling, intense without being toxic. I need a whole book just from his POV, tbh.

I enjoyed all the supporting characters in this story as well. im just obsessed all around lol

I immediately dove into book two because there’s no way I’m leaving this world anytime soon. This series? It’s going to live rent-free in my heart.
