i would give this a 3.5 if i could. i really enjoyed the first story and the last two but i also felt that they could have been more artfully intertwined and less character driven. i was expecting the book to be more about music though it read to me as more of a meditation on the lifestyles and sorrows of musicians, which was compelling too yet not totally fulfilling the vision i anticipated.
