Beautifully poetic, stunning prose, and such a unique and creative writing style! I loved everything about this read. The way Vuong is able to pull such strong visceral feelings and emotions from his magnificently descriptive and almost lyrical writings, is absolutely unreal and unmatched!!!

Such a fun and creative concept for a story! Historical figures coming back to current day to re-teach their legacy. It follows Harriet Tubman and her fellow abolitionists as they use music to tell their story through the perspective of a queer song writer/producer. I really loved the overall plot and the music of it all, but it could have gone a lot deeper. I really wanted more from the story and characters. Really fun and quick read about a female serial killer through the perspective of her enabling and very resentful older sister. The writing is fast paced, clever and straight-to-the-point. It is funny, has a lot of pop culture references, and a pretty entertaining plot. I did enjoy the humor and the footnotes quite a bit. Gripping, gruesome, and gritty!
This was so beautifully written, but also, a viscerally disturbing and horrific experience! Cosby has such a way of disgusting and terrifying us while simultaneously, taking us on a thoughtful exploration of such real, historical and very much current issues that continue to plague the United States today, i.e. racism, religious fundamentalism, child abuse, white supremacy, and small town politics.
