Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher
"If you're weary of fantasy starring super-hot, super-special eighteen-year-olds with improbably smooth banter skills, allow me to recommend these two awkward, well-meaning, damaged middle-aged people who are trying to patch together adequate lives and don't deserve to be caught up in political intrigues and supernatural serial killings that have nothing to do with them.

Sequel with more gnoles, please. "

A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid
"I’m seated. My local bookstore‘s employees are scared and asking me to leave because it’s “not 2025 yet but I’m simply too seated. "

danielle l. jensenʼs book with a sea trope? say no more.

i read this in a tandem with Dark Skies as the author suggested . and it was really one of the most joyful book experiences in my life.

- at the end, i rotted for the characters i hated most (yeah, really).
- tangled story, but a wild ride all of the same. things appear not as they seem at the first glance.
- not a straightforward romance or insta-frienship, not simple world building. tho, when you get it you get it.
- men characters were very deep, the grayness in all it’s might.

i can say that it's a story about villains and what defines villains. can a villain be a villain if he/she forced to do awful things? but what if he still do good for his/her loved ones? can a villain be the one to whom country gains more weight that his/her own feelings? the author leaves the answer to you. LOVED it.

bookshelves: _authors_of_color, g-fantasy-high-epic, g-fantasy-romance, trope-magic-everywhere, favorites-of-my-soul, trope-witches-monsters, myths-middle-eastern
eerie magic, middle eastern settings and woman with arrows...

characters were so relatable, as if the author put a piece of her own heart into each of them. i really appreciated how imperfect they were and how genuine their connection felt. i have a soft spot for middle eastern settings, especially with women inequality representation and eerie magic. it was like a fresh breath for me, i rarely find something so well-written, engaging and thoughtful at the same time.

We Hunt the Flame (Sands of Arawiya, #1) ★★★★
We Free the Stars (Sands of Arawiya, #2) ★★★★
