More nostalgia than anything else.

I am picking up this book after a gap of nearly 25 years - I stumbled on my own print copies the other day, gifted to me by an aunt when I was young.

The first memories I have of these books is wanting, very much, to be a part of the Malory Towers' set. I wanted to spend time in their dormy, make friends with Darrell, Sally, Mary-Lou, Alicia, and the rest (and also give Gwendoline a few sharp lessons when necessary), meet Mam'zelle and Miss Potts, and have midnight feasts. I am surprised to find that, even after so many years, I still want to be there. Now I am a mother myself but this book has not lost the charm it held for me when I was a child of 8, waiting for a letter that would whisk me away to a magical school where everything worked out in the end.

I don't know if it is the magic of the book or my own naivete, but as long as I am happy to be there, who cares ☺️
