Sad but true. I must be old because this is what old people say, “back when I was a kid�� kids played outside, we didn’t have cellphones and computers and streaming services running our lives. Look out side these days and something is missing, it’s missing from the woods, streets, playgrounds, abandoned buildings, front steps, backyards ��.. the kids just aren’t there anymore. I recently saw 4 boys out riding bikes on a rural rode and it made my heart light up with joy to see; it’s rare these days. I have 3 kids of my own and this book inspired me to build my kids a tree fort. When I was little I lived near a golf course and I spent many summers in that golf course with friends building tree forts. Spending time outside doing the things that kids use to do is what needs to be done and this book helped me to remember that we need to help this new generation to see what they are capable of and give them memories that all kids should have. If there’s one thing I took from this book, it’s get up, get outside, find a tree and build a tree fort with your kids. It reignites your own inner child and it’s a lot of fun. Great book, a bit windy at times but the message was well received.

First I will say that I’ve heard many great things about Cormac McCarthy. Second I will say that this was my first book of his and I now believe those great things I heard, which is why I went immediately to another one of his books, Blood Meridian. The road was intensely deep, and brought me to tears which I can’t remember doing since reading White Fang by Jack London, it reached out and touched me. I’m very glad I read it and highly recommend it.

I did not realize there were men on earth like Hanes & Goggins�� inspiring and the message is much needed in today’s world. A great read with a great message and story.

Amazing! Pure motivation. Didn’t know there were humans like this that existed. I hear his voice all the time now and it’s awesome. Book was great because the message his message was read loud and clear. There is no finish line! Don’t stop!
