Definitely not for everyone, but I think this book is fascinating. It's a dreamlike, anesthetized, body-horror carnival that feels like waking up from surgery still under anesthesia. Incredible, tight work of fiction. I read this years ago, and I still think about its version of magic all the time. Foundational cyberpunk. Language can be really dense, so I bounced off it the first time I tried reading it, but the second time around I let myself be immersed and I ended up loving the velocity of the prose.
