The Moers Murders by Graham Brack
"Humor and History

Wonderful dry wit, fun to read with good historical backdrop. Hope that there is another in this series in the works."

The Ring by Fiona Forsyth
"This anthology of historical fiction leads from the BC era to the present day.

The stories are all linked by a ring with the name FORTUNA engraved inside. Most of the authors are new to me.

Because they're all individual short stories, you can dip in and out. Read one, two, or the whole book in one sitting.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it. Best of all, the proceeds from sales of this book go to The Reading Agency."

Italian Escape with Her Fake Fiancé by Sophie Pembroke
"Three and a half stars.
Singer and musician Daisy Mulligan at the annual Ascot Music Festival meets Viv Ascot. She and two other young women, Jessica and Aubrey help the Viv out, rescue her dog and care for her when she is injured. A strong friendship develops between Daisy, Aubrey and Jessica, though they are all from different countries. It continues through modern media. Viv has a knack of knowing what people need. She determined what each young woman needs and from her great wealth seeks to supply it.
Daisy suspects Viv is behind the Italian villa she receives as a gift. A home of her own would be incredible, however the villa is not quite what Daisy expects. But she plans to go see it. She also does not expect the furore that erupts on social media after star singer and musician Jay Barwell kisses her at the close of their duet on stage. Daisy is the support act for Jay and his band but.the kiss erupts on social media, taking on a life of its own. Jay and Daisy play along. And suddenly the plans to go to Italy turn instead social media into a love retreat. But Jay and Daisy hope to use the time to work on some new songs for their duets. Jay needs something to reignite that passion for writing music and it seems is the spark he needs. And after all they are not hurting anyone by playing along with the fake romance complete with a massive diamond ring. They both know the romance is fake and publicity will help their careers. That is until suddenly it is not fake. So then what?
This is a cute, easy read. It is book 2 in A Mills and boon Fairytale Summer series but reads fine as a stand alone. Far fetched yes, but it is a fairytale.😁
Daisy is an interesting character and I loved the friendship and support between the three young women. Jay is also interesting and it shows the relationship of the band plus agent Kevin, the opportunist. It certainly highlights the impact social media has on lives and the way some people use it to their advantage or attempt to.
I wanted a light book that didn’t require much mental energy. This filled the bill. It was fun."
