The best book I've ever read on The Great War. I've never seen someone wrap up not just a detailed four-year global conflict, but the centuries of history that set it up, in such a clear, understandable manuscript. He retains all the drama and intrigue such catastrophes raise while reaching their deeply personal roots. Well done!
