While I love seeing Dreams of Roses here, I would also say because it's the 7th book in the series I would not recommend someone start with it if they haven't read any of the previous books in the series. Of Chaos and Cadence is a standalone fantasy romance that features a half-elf girl (the cousin to the elf of my dreams in this series but that's a different story) and one of my favorite kinds of characters, a the loyal best friend of the king who is too bound up by duty to think about things like love- until it finds him...

I love this series! The worldbuilding and the magic system in these books are both so unique and creative, and the romances are so sweet and tender and clean. Also, this book has another favorite of mine, a pet name that the girl doesn't know the meaning of and it's super romantic.

Also, the bromance in Stormlarks was top tier and remains so here. The friendships are great!

This book also introduces part of the next couple and while it's not Vendar, the love of my life, it is about the close second. So I am very excited!
