Okay so this book took me exactly 3 MONTHS to finish.

Upon reading the blurb I thought this was be a really interesting, creepy read.

Unfortunately it was not.

Having read one of the author’s other books I thought this would have a good plot twist near the end of the book which to be fair it kind of did, but at the same time I feel like I saw the twist coming.

There were WAY TOO MANY characters in this book and the constant change between multiple POVs made it very difficult to follow what was going on in each character’s story. Multiple POV stories aren’t really something I’m a fan of for that exact reason.

None of the characters were really fleshed out either, I felt nothing for any of them. I lost count of the amount of times our protagonist ‘sighed too.

Don’t get me wrong this book wasn’t a total flop in my eyes; there were some good parts. Unfortunately though that seemed to come at the end. The book was over 400 pages long and for a good portion of that (300+) it felt like nothing was really happening. ]]>

Wow. It's not very often at all I give books 5 stars but this book deserves every one of them.

I kept seeing this book all over the internet and saw it had recently been made into a TV series and it was one of those books I bought a while back but it's been sitting on my shelf unread. So I decided to pick it up and see what the hype was and why it scored so highly on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ.

This book had me hooked from start to finish and kept me guessing right until the very end with twists, turns and red herrings throughout.

I don't even care if this is classed as YA and I'm 30 years old. I LOVED this book and I will be straight onto the sequel. ]]>

Okay, let me start off by saying that this isn’t normally the sort of genre that I would usually read, however I was in the Works and I was lulled by the cover of this book.

So I would actually rate this book 3.5 stars out of five purely for the following reasons:

1) the main character Signa appears to be blind as a fruit bat as to the clues that are right in front of her. There were times where I was guessing what was going to happen and I turned out to be correct. Maybe I should be detective?

2) I know the author tried so hard to write a plot twist at the end of this book but to be honest I guessed it about halfway through. I don’t know whether it was a good twist or not. It just seemed a little bit Obvious. (The twist I am referring to is in relation to Sylas).

3) I actually quite liked Death as a character. Not sure how I feel about him knowing Signa since she was just a little baby though; it gives off groomer vibes.

4) I actually didn’t care much for Blythe at all and found myself not interested as to whether she lived or died.

5) I loved the setting of this book; very Gothic-esque.

Overall it was a fairly interesting read & I did find myself thinking about this book quite a bit when I wasn’t reading it and whilst there were many points throughout this book that I was rolling my eyes, I finished it quite quickly. Whether I will read the sequel or not, I haven’t yet decided. ]]>
