Lisann is 10% done with The Hunger Games: “Katniss, the girl who was on fire! that scene will never not give me goosebumps 🥺

Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey
"There’s just something about a romance that starts with the FMC flipping the bird, verbally, to the MMC- that makes me feral. Pitcher Perfect had me locked in from the first page, and I devoured it in one setting. Robbie, the class clown from the previous books, completely blindsided me in the best way possible. I wasn’t expecting to fall for him this hard, but Bailey clearly had other plans. And Skylar? A list making, emotionally guarded, softball playing queen. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved every chaotic, heartfelt second of it.

The fake dating trope paired with a family competition made this romance not only entertaining but layered with vulnerability, trust, and just the right amount of angst. Bailey knows how to write MMCs who are all swagger on the outside but emotionally devoted wrecks on the inside 🥹and Robbie fit that mold perfectly. From standing up for Skylar to his soft, deliberate efforts to make her feel seen, he really came through. And the spice? It was spicin.

This is a must read for fans of sports romance, especially if you love dual POV, opposites attract, and a he falls first MMC.

The flirtation lessons trope? Absolutely feral for it.

Robbie may have started out as “organism donor #1 but ended up as one of my favorite love interests of the series, Burgess still reigns supreme, but Robbie came in hot for that silver medal."

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the e arc!

Not my thing at all I’m afraid. I hated our main character Mila and didn’t care about anyone else in this town.
I did not want to read another description of a damn bog. I get it. It is mad. Maybe since I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bog in my life (and if I have it’s clearly not memorable enough) I just didn’t fully connect to the atmosphere of the novel.
I found the plot to be super predictable and it offered nothing new to the genre as a whole. I found it convenient that the bad guy was the guy Mila also hated most.
I found the end super fast and there was no resolution afterwards.
I wasn’t a fan of the dialogue and Mila did nothing but insult people.
The romance lacked emotion and anything to make it really believable.
Overall this book was a slog to get through. That being said the lesbian couple was cute! ]]>
