It may be something I see or hear. It may be an old idea I'd forgotten that resurfaces unexpectedly. However, nothing inspires me more than a bad day. Writing is my go-to solution for almost anything. It is a consistently reliable way to improve a day. I wrote more in the worst year of my life than in any other year.

When I wrote Deliberate Acts of Random, I joked that it was a collection of stories from different authors, only with me as all the authors. This led to a conversation with my friends, many of whom are writers, about collaborating on a book together. The new book, whatever we eventually call it, will be a collection of short stories from different authors, only this time actually involving other authors.

I am working on two projects at the moment. I'm co-writing a book of short stories with some friends. I'm also working on a mystery/crime novel that I started about six ears ago; I put it aside and pick up every other year.

I never get writer's block because I write each book out of order. If I am blocked on a scene, I write a different scene. It simplifies the writing process. Unfortunately it doubles the amount of re-writing.
