F.S. Yousaf Probably being a writer with heavy imposter syndrome I’ve written four books, but it still feels like I’m not the one who wrote them!
F.S. Yousaf Anything by Murakami or Brandon Sanderson!
F.S. Yousaf Im currently working on another poetry collection, as well as trying my hand at a novel. I've always wanted to be a story teller, and I really feel like I have a good plot.
F.S. Yousaf Write, write, write. And when you think you're done, write some more. Write every day to hone your craft. Write on your happiest of days, the days you're sad, and the days when you feel like you cannot go on any longer (of course, self-care too). Practice makes you better at writing. And also, start small and don't beat yourself up for not churning out poems or books every month or year. You are your own person, and if that means one sentence is all you can write, don't push it.
F.S. Yousaf The best thing about being a writer is the fact that I get to share my work with others who anticipate it. It really makes my heart warm when i get messages about a poem I've written and how it affected someone. It just makes my day.
F.S. Yousaf My most recent book, "Sincerely," was thought of when I was finding ways to propose to my then fiancé. I went through all of our old letters and some poems I wrote to her and compiled them into a small book which I proposed to her with! I didn't want to publish it, but my wife really pushed me to go for it.
