Get your first draft written. It's not going to be perfect, but just the act of writing "The End" on the last page of your manuscript is a huge accomplishment, regardless if you're planning on publishing this book sometime down the line or have it in your drawer just for you to read.
If you do decide to publish it, revise your manuscript to the best of your ability, then have it professionally edited and get a professional cover made.
Yes, it's a lot of work to write a book, but I find the most rewarding part about being an author is brightening up someone's day. And that, to me, is all worth the effort!!!

When I get stuck in a story I'm writing, there are a few ways I try to get unstuck. Usually, a missing piece of information is the culprit.
My favorite way to work through this is to brainstorm on my large glass whiteboard in my office, and usually the answer comes to me as I write down what I know and what I'm not clear about.
Sometimes, I come up with a superficial answer at first, but when I keep asking why a character would behave a certain way, I get to the heart of the matter. Then, like magic, everything becomes crystal clear and I can get back to writing.
