There are several--way too personal to mention here. LOL. Thanks for the question.

I applaud you for keeping yourself informed about the industry. But when you are in the process of writing, especially your first novel, shut it off. Just get your story down and don't worry about getting an agent or a publisher until you are completely satisfied with your story. Focus on your story and your writing, worry about the industry later.

Eve Dallas and Roarke in JD Robb's In Death series. First, I love the series. And I loved their relationship (very hot) from the start. I don't think it's lessened in heat and interest since the series has gone on.

Hi Sheryl,
Thanks for your questions. The new books has several crafts in it, as will the others in the series. In this book, the focus is on broom making and candle and soap making. But there are always kniters and paper-crafters around. I love writing the holiday-themed mysteries, but I have to tell you, I love writing all of them, so I'm not sure if a holiday themeed mystery is more fun or not.
Cheers,
Mollie
P.S. Yes, there are step-by-step instructions in the back of the book. ;-)

Inspiration is everywhere for me. When I started writing the Cumberland Creek series, I was inspired by a group of scrapbookers I knew. I loved the way they got together and shared stories about their families, supported one another, while scrapbooking. Women's stories are a well of inspiration for me. I like to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. If you view life like this, you will find stories everywhere.

The best thing about being a writer is getting to do the thing I love the most. I love building stories and characters--and I adore playing with words.

I don't ever have writer's block--sometimes I get stuck (not often) and I think it's from being tired. So I take some time away from the computer. Go for a run. Clean the house. Sometimes, I work on another story, which seems to help, too.

When I was very little, I love the Curious George books. Later, my favorites were the Trixie Beldon mysteries. I also really loved this book of short stories called "To Dance, To Dream."

Thanks, Betty. I'm so glad you won! Cheers!

I've just turned in the fifth book for the Cumberland Creek series and am playing around with new story ideas.

My advice if aspiring writers is completely unsexy: Learn your craft. Take classes. Find good teachers. Listen to and learn from editors. Write every day. Read every day. You don't want to be published before you are ready.

I have two daughters who did a bit of Irish dancing and I was enamored by the sub-culture. So I worked it into DEATH OF AN IRISH DIVA.
