Paul Vincent I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for letting me know. I'm afraid I stopped using Smashwords years ago as it was too much work to get books past their filtering system and downloads there were very rare anyway. It took five days of tweaks and modifications to get book 1 through their filtering system and I don't have the time or patience to go through that again.

Almost all downloads of my books were happening on Amazon (Smashwords averaged less per year than Amazon did per week), so that's where I upload them now. Amazon doesn't have exclusive rights, as such. I just don't put them on any other systems. I've been hoping that my novels might become popular enough that I can quit my day job. Then I would have enough time to put them on Smashwords too.

Apart from writing, my main focus these days is trying to win an agent so I can one day write full-time.
Paul Vincent I can't think of any mysteries in my life. Certainly nothing which comes close to a plot for a book!
Paul Vincent It's just based on extrapolating from recent events in the news. The problem was I had to work quickly to get it out before the dystopian future the book predicts fully arrives. Some of the changes in the world I was writing about actually happened in real life before I finished it.
Paul Vincent Flexible working hours and not tied to a location.
Paul Vincent Absolutely no idea. I am always inspired to write and cannot remember every not being inspired.
Paul Vincent Write all the time, every day. It doesn't matter if you throw most of it away. The only way to get better is to write more. Everyone has tips and advice to throw at you, but only with practice will you learn what works for you.
Paul Vincent I wish I knew, but I have to admit that I've never suffered from it. My worst problem is not having enough time to write everything down. Sitting down to write and being unable to has never happened to me.
Paul Vincent I'm currently working on Astronomicon: Deadline, another standalone novel within the Astronomicon universe. This one is a bit of departure for me as it has a much stronger humour element than my previous novels. Events focus on a much smaller scale, covering an exciting episode in the lives of an out-of-work life-support systems engineer and a failing news reporter. After discovering a government cover up they end up working together to escape and expose the conspiracy.

It's been a lot of fun to right, but pacing multiple levels of humour has been hard work.
