Robin Lee Hatcher I'm planning four. Still to come is Amanda's story and then Roger's story.
Robin Lee Hatcher Thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed Bundle of Joy. As for how, for me as an author, it is all about getting to know my characters and then letting them "tell" the story.

Robin Lee Hatcher Kimberly, first I must say that I consider it a real privilege and honor that my books were among those that turned you on to reading.

It is true that I don't encourage people to read my earlier fiction, but for more reasons than because I am now focused on writing Christian fiction (although that is a very important reason for me). One additional reason is that many of those early books were not edited at all or were poorly edited. I'm delighted that you still found joy in them. I think there are many reasons those stories continue to appeal, and when I have the time, I would love to rewrite more of them. Thus far, I’ve revised 14 of my early works with the help of some wonderful editors, and all have been released again, most of them with new titles and all of them with new covers.
Robin Lee Hatcher It was originally published by Leisure Books in the general mass market in a collection called A Frontier Christmas.
Robin Lee Hatcher Hi, Jan. Thanks for asking. My next book releases in December. The title is You're Gonna Love Me. In this book, I take readers back to Thunder Creek, the setting for You'll Think of Me.
Robin Lee Hatcher That's a little like choosing my favorite child. I love them all for different reasons. But if forced to choose, I would go with the couple in FIT TO BE TIED. Cleo and Sherwood were simply great fun. Throw together one tomboy, cowgirl with a British nobleman and tell her to turn him into a cowboy. Good luck. As one of the lines from the book trailer says, Sherwood is about as useless as a milk bucket under a steer.
Robin Lee Hatcher I don't know how this question got missed but it did. For two years, apparently. Anyway, I am currently working on a novel set in Thunder Creek. The first book in that setting releases in April 2017, You'll Think of Me. The second book that I am finishing now will release in December 2017.
Robin Lee Hatcher I don't know how this question got missed but it did. For two years, apparently. Anyway, my inspiration comes from the mortgage. I say that with a smile, but it is true. I make my living as a writer. If I don't write, I don't eat. As with any job, I show up to work and I work. In my case, that means writing.
Robin Lee Hatcher I don't know how this question got missed but it did. For two years, apparently. Anyway, I rarely know exactly where I get an idea for a book. Two years ago, my new book was Love Without End. That book started with the location, Kings Meadow, introduced in my previous novel, A Promise Kept. From there I began to imagine the characters, and after that, I just started writing.
Robin Lee Hatcher Jane, I'm not quite sure how to answer your question. I don't use any "technique" that I am aware of. I am a "seat of the pants" writer, meaning I simply sit down and write and let the story come as it will.
Robin Lee Hatcher Cintia, there is no easy answer for this. Mainly I would say "write anyway." Give yourself permission to write something, anything, and not to worry whether or not it is any good. Keep that pump primed by generating words even if they are words that will never be used.

Here is another exercise: Open up the newspaper or a book and begin copying the text. Then, after a few paragraphs, think of ways to change it. And finally, take it off in a whole new direction.

I wish you well.

Robin
Robin Lee Hatcher Hi, Nancy. Authors often get asked about where ideas come from. For me, I often don't know the true genesis of an idea. So much happens in the subconscious. The Where the Heart Lives idea began because I had learned about the orphan trains while doing research for another book, and it nestled in my heart. Later, I thought about three siblings, what it would mean for them to be separated as kids which happened quite often during the years of the orphan trains. And from that the series was born.
Robin Lee Hatcher Stacey, first I would need to know what your reading preferences are to recommend just one.

If you like historical romances, then I would recommend A Vote of Confidence (first book in the Sisters of Bethlehem Springs series).

If you like contemporary romances, then I would recommend Love Without End (first book in the Kings Meadow Romance series).

If you like women's fiction, then I would recommend A Promise Kept or Ribbon of Years.

I hope that's some help.
Robin Lee Hatcher The answer to your question, Darlene, is that I didn't. The author's note to readers was placed in the back of the book and was there all the way through the final proofing of pages. Then between there and the time it went to the printer's, someone erroneously moved the note to the front of the book. It will be corrected in future print runs, but there is nothing that can be done about it in the ones that were already printed.

Robin Lee Hatcher Hi, Francie. Thanks so much for letting me know that you loved The Victory Club. I don't have any plans to write Penny's story, but I have learned to never say never. If the right idea and opportunity came along, I might. However, it wouldn't be any time soon. My commitments with my publishers are for other books at this time. Robin
Robin Lee Hatcher Oh, goodness! That's a hard question. My characters become very real, very individual people in my mind, so even when they are like me, they are more like themselves, if that makes any sense.

I put a lot of my own experiences into Allison (A Promise Kept) and Deborah (Beyond the Shadows) and Claire (The Forgiving Hour). And I think Cleo (Fit to Be Tied) has some of my quirky sense of humor and stubbornness. And I adore Katie (Catching Katie) because I love her spirit. I hope I have some of that without having some of her tendencies to march headlong into trouble.
