(view spoiler)[Hello, I would like to start off by saying I really enjoyed "The Corset". But I don't think I truly understood the ending. I thought that Dotty left Ruths parcel on Mrs Pearce doorstep instead of Billy's so her dad would pick it up, but I'm not sure if that is true. Also at the end Dotty says she can finally embrace her murderous destiny. Does that mean she's killed before? Did she kill her mum? Thank you in advance (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So glad to hear you enjoyed it! Please find below my answer to a similar question on one of the community threads. Re: the murderous destiny, Dorothea read the lumps in her own skull suggesting that she would prove to be a killer, but she did not kill her mum - that was Mr Truelove.
"Note how Dorothea makes Ruth think about hanging while she is sewing her initial on the handkerchief. Then in the last chapter she explicitly does not leave the house ... She makes us think she has gone to Billy Rooker's, but in fact left the handkerchief outside her father's library door. So Ruth DID have the power all along ... and Dorothea has used it to get rid of the problem in her life, thereby fulfilling the fate suggested by the 'murderous' lumps she found in her own skull. Hi Manuela, so glad to hear you loved the book, thank you! :) The publishers are in charge of the formats that come out, but typically in the publishing industry the hardback is a limited printing only issued for six to twelve months following initial publications and is then replaced by the paperback. So I don't believe the hardbacks are still being made, but hopefully you can find one on ebay or similar!

Hi Pheadra, I tend to plan the novel in advance and like to have an ending in mind. However, things certainly do change along the way!

Hi Angela, I have different publishers in the UK and the USA. Title, cover and release date are determined by the individual publishers not myself.

(view spoiler)[Hi Laura. I recently read your book The Silent Companions at my book club. Funnily enough I had a very different perception of Jolyon's relationship to Elsie. Maybe I read too much into it but I thought through the various hints and suggestions that Elsie was his mother...her father's abuse, the constant need to protect him, calling him 'her boy', 'she bled for him'. Is this something you can confirm? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hi Estela! Yes, it was my intention to imply that relationship through the subtext. Please see my previous answer to a similar question. (hide spoiler)]

In total, I hope to write around 7 books for the Georgian queens, they were such a interesting set of women. It's been put on the back-burner for a bit now as my career in Gothic fiction is taking priority. I have started books about Maria Fitzherbert and Caroline of Brunswick but I have no idea when they will be ready I'm afraid.

That's a very good point, and something that hit home when I was writing about Queen Charlotte. Although he caused her endless trouble, she loved her son dearly and I had to look at him through a mother's eyes. He certainly had some excellent sides to his character. To be honest, I don't think he was very well mentally, and people don't seem to take that into consideration before they judge him.
