Amy Vansant I just saw this - Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ didn't tell me I had a question! If you write Amazon, they will often let you review again. They have algorithms that think you're a bot trying to leave fake reviews, and once you tell them you're a real person, they let you out of jail. :) Thank you for trying either way! :)
Amy Vansant I apologize for the delay - I just saw this! I have nine books out in the Kilty series and 10 in Pineapple now!
Amy Vansant I apologize for the delay on this... I just saw it! I'm pretty sure I made that up, though I was at my mother-in-law's at the time and I think she had brought back coconut donuts that were AMAZING. I think I gained 3lbs right there!
Amy Vansant "Did you eat the last cookie?"
"Yes."
Amy Vansant Yep - at least one more maybe more - next will be out early next year!
Amy Vansant Where all the chocolate disappears to. (hint: It's me.)
Amy Vansant Nick and Nora Charles from The Thin Man movies/Dashiell Hammett novels. Their banter reminds me of my husband and myself... not to mention their drinking habits!
Amy Vansant Magicatory will be in rotation now - I'm writing Angeli 3 at the moment and then Slightly Sweaty, the sequel to Slightly Stalky, then Pineapple 4...then Magicatory 2! So that would put it ... early spring next year...
Amy Vansant AAh! I just realized I have questions to answer here and wasn't notified (or my spam filter ate it) I apologize for the delay!
I'm working on it right now - hoping to have it done and out by the end of July!
Amy Vansant AAh! I just realized I have questions to answer here and wasn't notified (or my spam filter ate it) I apologize for the delay! Angeli started out as a dream, literally. Granted, like most dreams, when I started writing it out it made next to no sense, but the more I worked on it, the more Anne's world came together!
Amy Vansant Ha! I does sort of look like I tried to fit all the words into "Angeli: The Pirate, the Angel and the Irishman," doesn't it? :)

Skipping the obvious offensive & profane answers, I'd have to say "moist."
Amy Vansant I'd say no, because I'm not a terribly "girly" girl and always felt like I sort of "thought like a guy" (in all the best ways of course and none of the bad. Ha!).

But I've read books with male characters who talked and acted like women --- you could feel the influence of the female author in his nuances ---and it was distracting for me.

That's when it hit me that I needed to be more careful with my men! When I'm writing for one of the guys I try doubly hard to hear their voices in my head and make sure they ring true, not only for the man, but for the character.

Being sure ALL your characters have some Yin & Yang keep them from being stereotype driven caricatures.

Michael in Angeli: The Pirate, the Angel & the Irishman ( /book/show/2... ) was fun to write because I wanted to make him manly and sexy and powerful, and yet give him his anxieties and OCD. That was maybe easier for me than it could have been, since my goofy husband is manly & yet an anxiety ridden disaster. (Sshh... don't tell him I said that!)

Con is more of a swaggery manly-man, but he has a gentle soul and a sense of humor. He's not always that bright, which also reminds me of... oh, hi honey! *quickly stops typing*
Amy Vansant I go to sleep thinking about the part I'm having trouble writing and I almost always wake up with a solution. The other option is to just plow through - just keep writing ANYTHING until it feel right again.
Amy Vansant Write. A lot. You can't publish what you didn't write. And you get better and better the more you do it, whether you think so or not.
Amy Vansant It something I've always done. I can't believe I got sidetracked from it for so long. I just have the urge, always, now... again.
Amy Vansant I have a new novel nearly finished called "Slightly Stalky." It is a humor chick-lit novel about relationships, namely how I stalked my husband! (Spoiler alert, I got him.)
Amy Vansant It sounds silly, but I had a really elaborate dream that I thought made a good story. As I started to write it, it morphed, because once you start saying a dream out loud it always ends up making next to no sense, but that was the nugget that started Angeli. The more significant part, was that I'd been a writer for years, a freelancer and the East Coast Editor of Surfer Magazine, but I'd stopped when my web design business, Vansant Creations (here in Annapolis), took off. This dream reminded me how much I missed writing.
