A simple Google Doc with details per chapter and a summary at the end. That's all I do.

I write. It doesn't matter what I write. It could be random letters. It could be prompts from a word generator online. It could be fiction or nonfiction. It could be writing down verbatem the words someone else has already written. It could be simple journaling. Keep writing, even it's just your thoughts on why you think you can't write anything. You have to give yourself permission to write badly and show up.

Great question. I was working on my fourth degree while taking an English class. I had a creative writing assignment, and one student who I share it with said she wanted to read a whole book on Everville. The rest is history.
