Earthchild is set in Scotland, and tells the story of an illegitimate cousin of King James and the forgotten daughter of a Scottish laird.
James 1 of Scotland nee 1394 was kidnapped by the English, and grew up as an English prisoner from 1406 to 1424. His father Robert III died during his incarceration when James was 12. James's coronation was not until May of 1424, after he was married to Joan Beaufort, and returned to Scotland to "clean house."
The protagonist of Earthchild is Llewellyn--James illegitimate cousin. When the story begins, Llewellyn first meets Branwyn, a seer living near McDermitt keep on the northern coast.
