I got around that by being a book reviewer—I could talk all day about my favorite books—but ask me to tell you about my day or try to make you feel something based off of my day? Never my thing.

My blog posts were never pretty enough. Oh, how I love going to some blogs and am brought in to the words and the images and the graphics

You won’t get that here.

But you will get to hear a little from me, in my voice, away from Facebook and Instagram.

I won’t keep things bookish here. Sure, the majority of my posts will very likely be about my writing process, or who’s talking to me, or who’s still being stubborn and quiet (looking at you, Jonny)…but if I try new products, or get new swag…I want to tell you about it too!

Hopefully too it will mean that I’ll keep the page updated too (hahaha). If I’m here weekly to talk to you all, surely that means I can make sure pages are in order and releases are updated.

Anyway.

Until next time

For years, I’ve lived in my big brothers shadows. Heck, I’ve lived in my sisters shadows as well.

It comes with being the baby of the Prescott family.

In two years, I’ll be eligible for the NHL Entry Draft.

In two years, the world is going to know Porter Prescott for whatÌýIÌýcan bring to the table, not as the kid brother of San Diego Enforcers, Caleb and Jonny Prescott.

I have two years to make a name for myself.

Be prepared.

Porter Prescott is coming your way.

Review by

This is my favorite book in the series. This is weird because this is only a sort of prologue novella to Porter Prescott’s full length book. But the author has managed to pack so much into only little less than a hundred pages. My attention was held from the very first sentence in the prologue, but it was from the first chapter that this kid captured my heart.

Porter is the baby of the family. Desperate to step out of the shadow of his larger than life family and to be seen as an individual in his own right. He is stubborn and he makes mistakes. He’s not perfect by any means but more than a story about a kid trying to find his feet, this was such a heartfelt and poignant tale that is relatable to anyone who has ever tried to find their own identity.

I absolutely recommend reading this novella. If I were to tell anyone to start this series, this is the book I’d tell them to read first.

And because this kid absolutely stole my heart, we decided to sit down with him to find out more

Interview

Hi Porter! Thank you for joining us today. Let’s jump straight in Who is Porter Prescott? Tell us a little about yourself.

Ah, my first interview. I’m excited. So, Porter Prescottâ€. Who am i? Well, I’m a six-foot-one hockey god in the making with eight percent body fat, brown hair, green eyes, i like long walks along lake Michigan at Bradford beachâ€.Ìý–chuckles—Nah, I kid, I kid. Well, I am that, but I’m an nineteen year old rookie NHL power forward; the season starts this week and I’m freaking pumped.

You are from the great Prescott Hockey family, what was it like growing up under that kind of shadow?

GrowingÌýupÌýwasn’t bad. It was pretty fun, really. Not many kids could say they had dinner with any number of hockey legends, or that the Stanley Cup made regular appearances at their house. It wasn’t until I wasâ€ twelve? Nah, ten. It was fifth grade. That was whenÌý things started to get dicey. That was about the time that Cael and Jon Jon were given roster spots in San Diego. Our town knew who we were, my dad played for Beloit and coached too, but it became a big deal when his sons started to play pro. But besides that, it was a fun way to grow up.

Ìý

Aside from the big name your family holds in hockey, it’s a big family. What is it like being the baby and having everyone constantly in your business?

Ha! Yeah, about thatâ€ -rub at his ear lobe, grinning then shrugs- I would think it would be the same in any household with more than two kids, but I don’t know that for sure, I guess. Nothing is a secret. Everyone knows what you ate for breakfast or when you last…did your business in the bathroom. Everyone has an opinion on freakingÌý everything , too. And I think that being the youngest, I had a bunch of wanna-be moms and dads watching my every move. Heck, it’s like that now. You saw MykeÌý mother-hen me about tattoo choice. It’s annoying at times, yeah, but I’m learning to appreciate that I have five people who have my back no matter what.

You’re a bit of a rebel, and you’ve made some questionable choices. If you could go back and do it all again is there anything you would change?

-chuckles again- Yeah. Yep, I’ve made some questionable choices. Great word choice, by the way. I think I would take some of them back but I also think that they’ve helped shape me into the person I am today, right now. If it weren’t for the friends and the actions I took, I’d have stayed at East, then who the hell knows what would have happened. I think everything definitely happens for a reason, even if it feels shitty at the moment.

Ìý

Things changed for you your junior year. What’s the biggest thing you’re thankful for that came from that change?

I’m going to go ahead and say the weed incident. It was scary as hell, between the cops and looking at suspension, and let’s not even go into what my dad would have done had it really been my weed, but that day definitely made me realize that who I thought were friends, really weren’t. If it weren’t for that and basically being forced to transfer, I wouldn’t have everÌýchosenÌýto transfer to University School. University definitely shaped me. Life became more than just playing hockey; it was earning the right to play. And as someone who pretty much had hockey handed to him, I think I needed that lesson. That and I met Logan; that kidâ€ Shit, I can’t wait for you guys to meet him. He’s a fucking hoot.

Hockey has always been your passion. It’s literally in your blood. But if you couldn’t play hockey what else would you like to do?

That’s aÌý really Ìýdifficult question. I honestly don’t know. Sports med? Definitely still something in athletics. I mean, sports were completely surrounding my childhood so something in the field still.

Ìý

You’re a pretty good looking guy, and yet you’ve never really been a player. Do girls just not interest you or?

I’ve just always been busy –grins—and I have three older sisters.ÌýI don’t think that the locker room needs to know your business. If I heard someone talking that shit about my sisters? I’d be pissed. So I’ve had girls, I just don’t talk about it.

But there is one girl that caught your attention. Tell us about her?

Mo? –lifts a brow—I’m guessing Mo. Mo’s family actually lived next door to us up until sixth grade, when they moved to the other side of the subdivision. She was always there; it was easy to be attracted to her. She’s a sweet girl. A good friend.

Ìý

And now you’re off to play in South Carolina, what are you looking forward to most your rookie season?

I am just pumped to be playing professionally. Nineteen year old rookies playing on a first line aren’t the most common thing, and I’m excited to play with players I don’t know. Sure, I knewÌý of Ìýa lot of them, but prior to camp the only people I played with who were of my skill level yet older than me, were really my brothers.

What will you miss the most when you leave home?

Asher –winks and flashes the Prescott dimple And don’t tell my parents, but I’ll probably miss them, too. A little.

And what about this new girl? Do you think something will develop there?

Well, I deliberately missed my planned flight to South Carolina…… But I don’t know. She’s in Wisconsin, I’m in South Carolina what, nine months of the year? I don’t know if anything will happen there. –sly smirk I wouldn’t be opposed to it though. She has my number.

Tell us three random things that nobody knows about you?

I have three piercings. I have a weakness for birthday cake fro-yo.ÌýAndâ€ hm. I hate being late. Unless it’s for a good reason.

What about you would surprise someone?

I wouldn’t mind playing with my brothers for one season. ONE! One season. –holds up a finger and mouths ‘one-

What are you currently obsessed with?

Boba balls. God, they pop in your mouth like real Gushers. I know people are freaked by them, but I think they’re the most awesome thing in the world. You can buy them for yourself, too. Mango are the bomb. You don’t even have to go to a frozen yogurt bar to get them. Definitely worth busting my macros for. Just spend a little more time in the weight room.

Ìý

Who would you really like to just punch in the face?

Well, you can’t hit girls and you can’t hit dogs, so that takes away one person Honestly, I don’t know. If you asked me two years ago, hands down Alex. That mother effer -shrugs- But like I said, because of those events, I honestly feel that I’m where I’m supposed to be right now.

What was the last lie you told?

That my plane was leaving on Sunday, when I was supposed to be on a plane that left on a Friday.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

X-Ray vision. No. Supersonic speed. To be able to get anywhere in the world in two point one seconds.

Ìý

Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten?

In five years I’ll only be twenty-four, so I hope still playing. My dad didn’t retire until his thirties so I think I have a good dozen years in me. Ten years? I don’t know. Still playing. Maybe thinking about settling down with one girl but I’ll only be twenty-nine so I’d still have time.

That was fun! Thanks for having me. I better get going to practice though. It’s one thing to have a reputation in high school, but quite another when playing professionally
