Excellent book. It will become required reading in my Advanced Hermeneutics book.

I’m giving the book two stars because it is readable and engaging in a “watch the train wreck sort of way. But the content and message is disappointing and discouraging in every conceivable way.

“Any alteration of Jesus, no matter how small, turns him into someone who cannot rescue humanity, who cannot re-create the cosmos, and who cannot reign over it as the great sovereign King.”

“It is a wonderful thing to be born on this side of the cross, knowing the full-orbed gospel. It is an even better thing to be sealed and empowered by the Spirit of God at Jesus’s behest. The coming of the Spirit was a crazy dream for Moses; it was a distant hope for Ezekiel; but it is true for you.”

“The word â€ justifiedâ€ means to be declared righteous, innocent, or not guilty. Sinners like you and me are declared, in God’s court of justice, to be not guilty, to be righteous. God is able to do this, not by taking a legal shortcut or “just forgiving.â€ No, God is able to forgive and still be holy God because the Father sent Christ Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, to pay the penalty for human sin. The word “propitiationâ€ is an important word, and it basically means to turn away wrath or anger. Jesus propitiated God the Father . Jesus, the Son of God, turned away God’s righteous wrath against sin. He completely satisfied all the moral indignation and judgment against sin that our rebellious actions brought about in the heart of our holy God.”

We want to get solid material into our congregants hands for them to read, enjoy, and be moved to proclaim Christ with clarity and love.
