Oh, man. I’ve wanted to do audio books for a while but for various reasons it just wasn’t the right time. Well, I’m here to tell you that 2019 is my year for audio. One book is live now, and four more are planned before the end of the year. I reached out to a fabulous narrator that I adore, and he agreed to the projects, so the wonderful Kirt Graves () is reading my Neither This Nor That book series. This is literally another “pinch myself�� moment, because the man’s interpretation of my characters is so spot-on it’s freakin�� unreal. Love, love, LOVE.

Neither This Nor That MC series book #4: Trapped by Fate on Reckless Roads:

I field a lot of questions about the somewhat awkward series title for these books, with folks wanting to understand just why NTNT exists as it does. There’s no real reason, per se, more an absence of anything better to call it. Maybe it would be easier if I explained ��

When I began writing Penny and Twisted’s story, back when what would eventually become Chapter Seven of This is the Route of Twisted Pain was all that existed of this world, there really wasn’t a stated club to deal with. But when Twisted wouldn’t stop talking that little story became part of a larger book, and I learned so much about him, Po’Boy, our Incoherent MC �� and their enemies.

I also learned of their allies, those friends and supporters who—even if they wore different patches—were proud to call each other brother. With the introduction of the character of Wrench, the Caddo Hobos MC came to be, and of course I already knew about the Bama Bastards, from Retro’s involvement in the Rebel Wayfarers MC books.

That meant by the end of that very first full-length book, I had six diverse clubs in play, half of which featured either main characters, or potential main characters. The clubs in my books are always as prominent a character as any speaking individuals, and these were distinct in makeup, separated from each other in an assortment of ways. From officer and member personalities, or variances in protocol, bylaws, and tenets—each is an amalgamation of features from disparate real world clubs, an unequally bastardized union, as translated by someone hanging around on the outside edges.

I tried out a variety of ideas to call the series, but IMC + CoBosMC + BamaBastardsMC didn’t have that catchy ring to it. At all. In frustration one night, I named the folder containing the series information “neither-this-nor-that�� since that was how I thought about it.

I found I couldn’t play favorites between the clubs, that would be like picking a pet book from all my babies, and I couldn’t do that, either. Almost by default, that longass series moniker stuck, against every marketing instinct in my gut.

So here we are, with story number four in the series, and three main clubs are now fully represented: IMC, CoBos, and BBMC.

Retro’s story takes place mainly in Alabama, which is only fair, since that’s where the man is from. True to form, he’s as different from Twisted and Po’Boy as Ace and Wrench are, and I fell in love with him and his inner circle of men. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Huge thanks go out to my editor, Becky Johnson, and her folks at Hot Tree Editing. I always appreciate the time and care they take with my stories. Debera Kuntz outdid herself with this cover, and I’m so pleased to be working with Christina Schellhous of Invicta Photography for the cover image.

Her image of model Colin Ienn was quite literally the inspiration for Retro’s character, posted to my Facebook profile nearly four years ago by Mandi Wathey. She’s a reader who requested I come up with a character to fit, sweetly asking, “Can you add him somewhere?�� I did, and cast the man in Hoss�� story as a brother who swoops in to save the day on his old school bike with ape hanger handlebars. He looked like such an OG, he *was* Retro.

Readers �� man, you do not know the influence you can have on an author. Your encouragement can mean everything, and your emotional investment in our stories might just hand us the motivation to continue moving ahead, to keep writing.

Say hello to the book that wouldn’t fit.

Shelter My Heart is a longish novella that is focused on the dynamics of our favorite trio of Lewis, Ty, and Crissy, impacted by the uncertainty of two newly-out rogues. As part of this writer gig, I’ve learned that when a character raises their hand in mid-sentence, so to speak, it’s the perfect time to listen.

In only five days Lewis, Po’Boy of our dreams, fed me this story and I took it and ran with it. Yay for listening to my gut, because this little story feels pretty special.

I wrapped it up on Oct. 11, 2018, which is Coming Out Day. While these characters have already come out to their close friends, they’re beginning to learn that for folks who don’t follow the hetero path, every day can be coming out day. Dealing with that, and the innate insecurities that often surface during any building relationship, and adding in the needs of three individual partners, and we’ve got the start of a complex story.

I hope you enjoy this tiny window into their lives.

Po’Boy, Wrench, and Crissy show how they’re meant to be in this saucy and sassy story about love, and change, and doing a whole lot more than just getting by.

Now that Po’Boy has found his happy with the two people he loves more than life itself, he just has to figure out how to keep it. Their triad relationship walks a finely balanced line between the demands of their outside lives and in bed, and Po’Boy is determined to keep things good and sweet for his lovers.

Change is unavoidable, no matter how much a body might wish otherwise, and outside of the relationship, Po’Boy’s role seems to shift with the wind, leaving him scrambling to keep his equilibrium both within the club he owes fealty to and with his ride-or-die, Twisted.

Nothing in life is easy, but with Wrench and Crissy around, he knows the love they share is worth fighting for, even if the worst of the demons he has to fight are buried deep inside himself. They’ll give him shelter for his heart.
