What was the relationship between Anne and her brother in the beginning? I'm getting a sense of incest coming from the brother but it never gets explained.

Anne was the only sister who would stand up to him when they were kids, and that always bothered him, and he always looks for some way to reign her in.(less)

However, if it's all completely new to you, then I'd recommend reading the series in a chronological order or just doing a little bit of research beforehand, just to help you understand who is who.(less)
