Few dates and places are mentioned in the narrative because, I'd guess, it's designed less to teach, more to make us think.(less)

Debbie Agree. I have been struggling with this as well. I think there is some remorse in the main character but not enough. Maybe finding some peace with Col…m´Ç°ù±ðAgree. I have been struggling with this as well. I think there is some remorse in the main character but not enough. Maybe finding some peace with Cole and Winona is how he is dealing with his regret? I think os some ways this novel is showing it “like it isâ€� - painting a Native American child in blackface, killing Native Americans based on a white man’s complaint etc - it’s a past we have to reckon with as uncomfortable as it is.
