Joleene Naylor is the author of the glitter-less Amaranthine vampire series, a world where vampires aren't for children. As a compliment to the novel series, she has also written several short stories, including the Vampire Morsels collection.

In her spare time, Joleene is a freelance book cover designer and for-fun photographer . She maintains several blogs full of odd ramblings, and occasionally updates her website at JoleeneNaylor.com. In what little time is left she watches anime and pins recipes and DIY, all from a crooked Victorian house in Villisca, Iowa. Between her husband and her pets, she is never lonely, and should she ever disappear one might look for her on a beach in Tahiti, sipping a tropical drink and wearing a disguise.

She currently has several books available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Apple and Smashwords.

Forced, sophomoric, cliched and unfunny, reading 10 pages felt like a total waste of my time. The introduction itself should have been a warning, but I was hoping the tips themselves would at least be entertaining.... They weren't.

This book, for me, was highly disappointing. I was expecting so much more. The author tries to be funny, but fails at it. A lot of the book is very cliche and cheesey. Most of the tips were things that you would do with anyone, not just a vampire. Also, most of the tips are common sense things that you do while traveling. The character is never explained in the book, or given any background. In the introduction, her thoughts and sentences are very sloppy and flighty. Instead of explaining why she was giving tips, she just made me confused. This book was free for Kindle, and I am thankful that I didn't pay anything for it because I personally, would want my money back. Honestly, I don't recommend the book to anyone.

Don't waste your time. A quick book that was more stupid than entertaining. Traveling with a vampire by air, train, ship, car, & foreign travel. I just lost half an hour of my life

Ok yes, this was incredibly short and some of the "tips" were more common sense when travelling in general but there were a few that were pretty funny. I even laughed out loud on a couple....like making the joke to you vampire friend that rabbits are "fast food" and that they just might not find this joke funny. Sorry I did find that funny.

Anyways it was free and I'd recommend the short book to anyone hooked on the vampire craze at the moment, just because if you are reading the novels chances are you might get a laugh out of these tips.

Added bonus there is a sneak peek of book two of Legacy of Ghosts by Joleene Naylor. So you could check that out and maybe read more of her books. I admit I did not read further because I'd rather start with book one not book two.

I don't remember how, when, or why I downloaded this hilarious book. I have a copy for both my Nook and my Kindle, so I suppose it was free on Smashwords and Amazon, which it still currently is. All I know is I laughed my head off all the way through it. If you like vampires, enjoy urban fantasy stories featuring vampires and/or have read any of Joleene Naylor's boks, you will want to grab a copy of this, if you haven't already.

Hilarious .

I figured this would be like a funny list. But most of it was stuff you would do no matter who you was traveling with.

If I ever find myself traveling with a vampire, this book will certainly come in handy. When I started reading it, I was honestly just curious to know how it would play out. It would be safe to assume it is a novel, but it actually isn't. To be more precise I should probably call it a manual as it is a how-to guide to traveling with a vampire ... exactly as the title suggests! and she wasn't kidding about the 101 tips.

This book will make you laugh at how humorously it is written while at the same time giving excellent advice "just in case".

truly terrible

Not funny, not interesting, and most certainly not tightly written. The item reads like the diary of a 13-year-old girl. Or whatever is the modern equivalent of that.

Giving it three stars for creativity, but it really belongs more on buzzfeed. I think it’s loosely related to another book series of the author, but the excerpt given was fanfic at best.

I’m not ten

This sound like it was written for ten year olds.

Not for older people but it was free and took about fifteen minutes to read the entire list of this…………..

Not your average list of travel features. Kind of a fun read though and one that does beg the question of does this have any sort of practical application?

Essentials for the Vampire Paramour..

Yes, I know, not all of us have Vampire Lovers, illicit or otherwise.

But some of us do.
I'm naming no names, Bel.. oh, my bad. Ahem, well, there are certain of us who need to travel, or maybe even go on the run with a hunky Vamp or hot Vampess. And that could lead to.. difficulties.

Can you take that gorgeous bod as a carry-on? Just how warm should the boudoir be...how much does your cool one eat, and do you need to provide the meal yourself(!) And for the green-eyed, Who else is 'coming to dinner', so to speak?
Stuff like that.

This little tomb - sorry, tome - provides the perfect companion when you're on the move and simply can't phone a friend, lest they phone the authorities.

The information you need is right here, presented in a format that is easy to read, even when hanging from a rail on the subway in the rush hour. In fact, I read my copy on the train, in the back of a taxi, and at least once, jogging through an alley.
Thanks to my phone with its tiny back-lit screen, I even managed to read it in the dark.
I think the cognoscenti will agree that this is key.

In fact, the list format is excellent for the mobile app. And considering the pace at which we had to travel, that was a blessing... But that's a story for another day.
Suffice to say, we're safe now.
Somewhere else.
I really can't tell you.

Just load the book on your device, grab your passport and some warm sweaters, and you're good to go.
Why stay at home alone by the fire, when you could be out chillin' with the one you love?

Literally.

What a riot this little piece was. I only got it cause it had a sneak preview of the second book in Naylor's Amaranthine series, "Legacy of Ghosts" The first book is "Shades of Gray" and I need to review that one cause...well, I guess I should save it for the review. Back to point, I bought "101 Tips.." for the sneak peek, but the 101 tips are pretty damn funny. You really need to read "Shades of Gray to appreciate the tips, but I must say tip #28 gave me the giggles . And the best thing is the ebook only cost $.99. You can't beat it. "Shades of Gray" was only like $2 I think. SOOOOO worth the price to be introduced to Jorick, but here I am back to her first book. So, get the first book then get this one!

This is my 2nd attempt to review a book and I am still not very clever. Maybe it comes with practice.

I made the decision to download and read this book because it sounded funny, and it did not disappoint! There are, as the title suggests, 101 tips for traveling with a vampire. These tips are often aimed at the human who must help a vampire travel, because according to the author, sometimes being a vampire means you have to travel quite a bit. And since vampires can only travel at night or in dark places, and they need to feed or drink blood on a regular basis, well.. as the human companion traveling with a vampire, you should be prepared!

There are tips for traveling by air, boat, or on a road trip by car, and each of these sections has a lot of good tips to help you decide the best way to travel with your particular vampire companion.

At the end, there are 25 more tips for dealing with your vampire, and those are amusing as well.

The title is rather self-explanatory so I'll just leave you with a handful of personal favorites:

9. Depending on the season, you might be able to save money by camping, though it’s pretty hard to get a coffin in a tent.

28. If your luggage starts to smell a bit “blah, you can freshen it up by dropping a dryer sheet into the bottom of your bag. Do not try to “freshen up your vampire friend by dropping one into his coffin. He won’t think it’s funny.

39. You may be desperate for entertainment, and “I Spy might have been fun on school field trips back in the day, but it’s pretty hard to play in the dark. “I spy, something that is black. Yeah.

49. Don’t leave drink bottles or food wrappers all over the car, unless you want your vampire friend to start leaving dead animal carcasses lying around.

I am giving this 5 stars, because it was cute, and funny. "101 Tips for Traveling with a Vampire" written by Joleene Naylor is exactly what the title indicates. This is a VERY short story, I was able to read it in about 20 minutes, however I do like that just about every tip had details. It wasn't just a list.
This book not only included tips, but the tips were listed in categories, such as "Traveling by Car" and other forms of transportation.
The only thing I didn't get about the book is the girl said she was turning 13. In that case I think she is too young to not only be dating, but also be talking about what type of rooms to get with a vampire.
Other wise, the book was fun, simple and short.

I read a review where one person said you needed to read the series to appreciate the tips. I don't really think that is necessary. I've read the Twilight series, True Blood series, and Interview with a Vampire. I thought it was a couple book with a couple of subtile digs at Twilight. I enjoyed it enought to buy the first book of the series to see how well I like it.

This was a cute little collection but I felt like it could have benefited from anecdotes or other little tidbits to add to the overall tips. There's no reason a collection like this couldn't have a great little design but that doesn't translate as well over e-books. I would love to see it in print and see what a good designer would do with it with a little bit of extras added. Otherwise, what is there is funny enough sometimes but because there's not really a story there, it really is just reading a list and while it has its entertaining aspects, it's not enough to keep it from feeling like a laundry list.

Ok, when you just need a good laugh while reading, this was great! yes, most of it IS commen sense, but some of the kickers had me laughing out loud, that rabbits are fast food just sent me over giggling and my kids and family looking at me! Short it may be but it perfect to break up the current book I am reading for alittle laughter. Author also included 25 more tips for living with a vampire and a short story after.
Very good, I will have to look up more to finish the short story that was included.

Was a Good Read!

This is just like the title says, a list of tips for traveling...in some cases with your vampire. Some are common sense for normal traveling because things like "don't drink the water" rarely have anything to do with the immortal undead. There are some points in this that made me smile though and there were some valid points as well when it comes to vampires. There are also a few jokes thrown in that are a bit funny. Though overall it was kind of a dull and quick read. It seems to be tied in with the author's series, even though it doesn't really mention this.

Thank goodness I didn't pay for this book. Even so, it was a complete waste of my time. I didn't expect anything spectacular, but I also didn't expect this drivel. The protagonist sounds like she's in high school (is the author?) rather than approaching 30. The tips were generic and humorless. It's just too bad I couldn't give this zero stars.

I have not read anything by this author before, but her wit and sarcastic nature intrigue me. This book wouldn't be for just anyone. If you enjoy vampire anything this is worth the quick read. The only thing that may offend your vampire senses is that the author uses her own pretenses for what vampires are or aren't.
If you don't know how to answer the question: How does a vampire board a cruise ship in the daytime? well then, you need this book.

This was a cool read. It was also extremely quick. I'm thrilled with both. The book focuses more toward the type of vampires I grew up loving my entire life. It's about time I found another author who went old school yet modernized it trying to make vampires closer to reality than in the past. I couldn't help but imagine myself actually traveling with one and it all seem very much needed information on the topic. Going to read books of this author now!

This is a book about, obviously, tips for traveling with a vampire. The tips range from ones that could be applied to traveling with general to some rather funny ones about traveling with vampires in specific. The tips include those for lodging, packing and hygiene, traveling by car/boat/airplane/train, foreign travel, and a bonus 25 tips for dealing with your vampire.

It's not quite as funny as I hoped, but it's still pretty decent.

This book was a super easy, fast read. I wasn't too sure about it before I started it because my brother picked it out and I didn't really enjoy the Zombie Survival Guide he had. We are opposite and it turned out I liked it and he didn't, go figure. Maybe I liked it because it was a girl speaking and it wasn't formal at all (like she would put in her opinion into the tip itself). If there is a real story for the girl and her vampire friend then I will definitely read this author again.

Exactly what the title implies - tips for traveling with your vampire lover. What to pack, motel etiquette, and whether or not to go by car, boat, train or air.
I was going to say this was "mildly amusing" but since I chuckled at, maybe, 4 of the tips (actually 126 if you add the 25 on basic "living with your vampire") I decided I really can not say it was worth the time.
