Excellent starter book for anyone, but especially children. The illustrations are very colorful and command one's attention.

I was surprised to learn of the pink flower Mantis.

This is the kind of book that younger children will spend an hour on just staring at one page. It is filled with so many interesting pictures and facts! Some of my favorite parts of this book include the challenge to find little insects hidden on the pages, one sentence factoids that children will retain for forever (and that adults will forget), and the true or false questions scattered throughout the book. There are insects in the book that I'd never heard of, like the flower mantis. There are facts in the book that I did not know, like insects don't like the salty sea. Sometimes these types of nonfiction books are overwhelming and have so much small print and information that it gets lost. That is not the case with this book. It is just the right length and the print size and layout makes it very readable.

This book earns five full stars. It has a sturdy, colorful cover, both a glossary and index and is jam packed with information, fun facts, interactive activities, and amazing full color illustrations. I strongly recommend this book for elementary kids

A science and social science concept picture book about many of familiar and freaky bugs around the world. Do not be fooled, however this is not a book full of glowing bugs, instead it is a book full of facts about mostly insects and what distinctions other bugs have in comparison. Although the books is filled with facts, it can be a little distracting. The picture are large and bright, great for the elementary age group but between two pages are there several facts, even some placed around the borders; almost as if there wasn't enough room in the first place. The book also says there are hands own activities, sadly there is A hands on activity. The style is very conversational and the book presents the information very well. It is an okay book that could bring out better information in other works.

Informational book that uses vivid pictures and facts to show students about bugs that glow. This would be excellent to use in a lesson about bugs. I would recommend it for grades k-2.
