Masters of Marquis #6

Shallow Submission

Rate this book
There's only one rule: keep your hands and heart to yourself.

Master Asad is a perennial playboy with a serious problem. Years of no-strings-attached fun has left him without a suitable date for his younger brother's wedding. Since going alone would put him in his meddling mother's crosshairs for an entire week, he needs somebody -- literally anybody -- by his side.

Enter Morgan. She's gorgeous, fun, and not interested in anything serious. In fact, Asad can't wait to get his hands on her again. And though she's grateful to her newfound friends for rescuing her from years of abuse, she's beginning to bristle at all the rules they want her to follow. Eager to escape the overprotective Marquis Doms, she jumps at the chance to get away from it all and play Asad's fake girlfriend for the week.

The catch? The other Masters want Asad to keep his hands to himself. For the entire trip.

But Morgan has her own plans and Master Asad has never been one to play by the rules. After all, who will know?

I absolutely loved this book!

It's funny, witty, sexy and have some kinks I had never read about before, which were interesting to learn about "for research purposes 😉 ".
We met Asad (aka the Persian Excursion) in previous books in the series, so we know he's all about "short and sweet."
Well, that is no more as in this book Asad had succumbed to the power of the "magic 🐈"! Morgan was abused in the past and is being sheltered by the doms of Stronghold and Marquis. Therefore, when they go away for a week to attend Asad's brother's wedding as a fake couple, the creed is that they can't have sex in order to protect Morgan. Guess how long that lasted? I love how we get to meet again well loved (and not so loved, i.e. Noel) characters in every book in the series. I also suspect we are being introduced to a new series that will feature a security company called "Black Fox," which I'll be very happy to read in the future. This was another great book in an amazingballs series, and I can't recommend it enough.

I’ve been hoping for someone special for Morgan ever since i met her.
She’d been through so much, and has come so far since, the next logical step should be someone special.
Someone to give her what she needs, someone to understand her, someone to treat her as the person she’s becoming.
Getting the ARC was a véry welcome gift, and finding out who that special person turned out to be was a very entertaining surprise!

Asad needed a date, asap,to accompany him to his brother’s wedding.
To prevent his parents from pressuring him into a relationship he didn’t want,he needed someone that could act as a fake girlfriend.
Enter Morgan, who’d been through hell, and was starting to find her way in “normal life.
As normal as possible with being a masochist, that is
They’d scened together, and liked it,even with every Dom in the club hovering.
They all were véry protective of Morgan, going as far as forbidding him to have sex with her during the week they’d be spending together.
Only, when Morgan found out about it,she got angry.
Why wasn’t she allowed to make her own choices??
She’d been looking forward to a week away from prying eyes, from hovering friends, and they were ruining it!!

Having Morgan with him felt good,it made dealing with his parents easier.
She was the breath of fresh air he didn’t know he needed.
And finding out she didn’t even know about the rule, and how angry it made her?
It made him angry on her behalf, and the decision to do whatever they felt like,Doms be damned, was liberating.
They had a wonderful week, with lost of naughty, dirty nights.
But what would happen once they got back?
Could they let it go? Or was it the start of something more??

I absolutely loved Morgan and Asad!!
He liked her,she liked him,and they had chemistry even before they shared that week away.
He was good for her,but she was equally good for him.
They helped eachother overcome barriers and grow into the person they were meant to be.

The only thing i didn’t like was how Noelle keeps acting..
And i start resenting that girl more with each story, not just that.i really hate her!
Which brings me to Brian.when will he be able to FINALLY get Rae to see he’s her perfect Daddy Dom??

Everyone is looking out for Morgan. She's had two abusive Masters, and isn't always sure how to respond/react in social situations. When Asad - who calls himself the Persian Excursion to emphasise his lack of interest in commitment - invites Morgan to be his fake girlfriend for the week of his brother's wedding,,the other Doms at the club warn him to keep it platonic. But nobody tells Morgan.
The Masters series by Golden Angel is just that, a masters in steamy romance. Wonderful and diverse characters who are a feisty friendship group; a range of fascinating relationship issues, and a variety of sexual orientations and kinks, all explored in steamy,, thigh-tightening and convincing detail.
Truly enjoyable, with one disconcerting detail: kinks are genetic!

This book gave me all the feels. Morgan has been though so much and I'm very happy she is, finally, getting her HEA. I laughed out loud at several passages (in the middle of a restaurant). Asad is a playboy who never wanted to settle down and has issues of his own that are brought to light in this book. We meet his family and discover the unplumbed depths that he has kept covered up. Morgan is given a chance to blossom into the woman she was meant to become and proves she can hold her own, when necessary. We get a bit of a tease for the next Masters of Marquis book at the end, as well. Though, if someone doesn't do something about Noelle, soon, I'm going to be "disappointed".

Good read, first in the series for me....
I really enjoyed this read! Morgan is really relatable, I love her directness and honesty. Asad is your typical laid back guy that doesn't commit. They really are perfect together, for like a puzzle. The story and chemistry just flows between them. The scenes between them are hot! I kind of wanted to smack some others, but Morgan took care of giving them a talking to. I would be interested in going back and reading some of the other characters stories and also continuing from here. This can be read as a stand alone. Great read would recommend!

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

Delightful! Initially Morgan came across as an unlikeable character, but the more of her backstory that came out, the more I empathized for her and grew to like her. She didn’t do herself any favors by hiding her past from the other subs, not that she owed them her history, but it made understanding her so much easier and she definitely could use all the friends.

Asad, despite his anti-relationship tendencies, was a very good boyfriend and Dom. His family was cute and misguided but wanted to change. It’s always nice to catch up with all the familiar faces in these books. 💜

Morgan has had a long way to come in order to find out who she really is inside. Her thoughts and her needs require a safe outlet but safety can be restricting when her 'normal' is not the normal of most. Master Asad's dominance needs a submissive for his pleasure and Morgan may just fit that requirement. But, will her pleasure bring him the satisfaction he is looking for and will he become the master she needs?

Shallow Submission by Golden Angel is the roaring good story of Asad and Morgan. Asad is a His brother is about to be married and he needs a ‘serious date, thus preventing any intrusions by his mother. Morgan has just exited a bad situation…and needs vacation from her well-meaning, but suffocating friends. He’s eager to see her again and makes her an offer.

This D/s story was so much fun!!! These two fight their rules for this trip…I had to laugh at the minor deviations…and the mental justifications. The cat and mouse games had me rolling in amusement. Absolutely delightful, decadent, steamy read!!

Asad, a dominant is in need of a fake girlfriend for his brother’s week long wedding festivities. Enter Morgan, a submissive who has had a traumatic past. Mutual friends make Asad agree to not get intimate with Morgan but she has other ideas. What happens when Asad and Morgan grow close? Will their relationship grow ? Read and find out!
Shallow Submission is a great read and I really liked the main characters. It’s well written and quite steamy. This book is the first I’ve read from the author and I look forward to reading more

A new book in the Marquis series and we finally get the story of Morgan. We get a glimpse into her life before and her fight and struggles to make sense of herself and this new world. In previous books I didn;t always like her, but this book shows a strong woman growing into herself and overcoming her past. She is trying to find out who she is, what she likes and wants and trying to navigate a complex world and social cues.

Master Asad is also dealing with his past and how to make a new start and heal old wounds.

And together they are trying to a new future.

It is a wonderful book full of growth.

This was a good book and another solid entry for this enticing series. Thought Morgan was great, and I was rooting for her from the start. Asad, I had to warm up to but in the end, I ended up liking him a lot. Their story was very engaging and gave me many feels.

Shallow Submission is the 6th book in the Masters of Marquis series and can be read as a standalone.
I was not ready to like Asad, from his appearances in the previous books of the series and even at the beginning of that story, I thought he had childish reactions regarding his family dynamics and the way he viewed life and responsibilities.
But, slowly, thanks to the author's talent, my heart warmed to him and I really enjoyed that friends with benefits to lovers story. I particularly liked Morgan's empowerment of her life and her choices.
I can't wait for the next book in that series.

As such a big Golden Angel fan, it's disappointing not to be thrilled with this latest installment in the series. Most of these books I have adored. This one, as well as the previous book, haven't been favorites.

This story is about Asad and Morgan. Asad has long been an active player in the club scene. Morgan is newer to the scene, and suffered a childhood in a damaging cult of some kind. Her story has never really been detailed, and I've read all these books. This murkiness around her backstory makes her a sort of odd female character. On one hand, everyone wants to welcome her and urge her to be part of the scene. On the other hand, for reasons I'm not totally clear on, the Doms all feel overly protective and work to corral Morgan and her potential club partners. This causes a ton of frustration for her. It also causes some consternation amongst the female club members, who are vaguely insulted for her and also a bit put off themselves with the uber protective routine by their boyfriends/husbands for this woman. I totally get that. The overprotective routine in this case is waaaay over the top and doesn't fit into this book. It's weird.

Despite all the shenanigans by these overgrown high school behaving boys, the two leads establish a relationship. The attraction between them isn't much, so I didn't feel invested as I have with other couples in this series. Also, their relationship, like a lot of recent ones in these stories, is much more sadism than bondage/dominance. I don't know why as series like these move forward they push the sadism so hard.

The dialogue between the females gets more YA with every book. They chat about superficial things, and and quip pretty immaturely to one another. Lastly, the character of Noelle continues to be a thorn I simply don't get. I do not understand the need for a snarky, manipulative female (of course) character who seems to get past all these smart folks. I don't see a character like this getting redemption. From her first introduction several books back, she's been openly fake, spends her time twisting and widely broadcasting other people's words, exhibiting mini tantrums and jealousy with abandon, and done her absolute best to sow discontent in numerous groups. This just isn't a type of character who receives absolution or gets redemption. I don't at all understand what Golden Angel is trying to do with this character. She's just way too far gone. She should have been called out several books back and dropped. I suppose the goal is to illustrate the acceptance of the BDSM community. But I'd rather be given examples of how the community takes great pains to keep out people who aren't there for the purest reasons--to explore sexuality in a mutually safe and respectful manner. The Noelle character clearly isn't there for those reasons. This character makes the rest of the community look like dolts who can't tell a snake from a garden hoe.

I love this series and hope to continue reading it. But every book that contains this manipulative character makes it less likely I'll continue.

I expected more from the story. I wanted more Morgan and Asad together. Not just playing, but also spending time together. It was from being fake couple to being in relationship in one week. Story lacked emotions. There could be more of Morgan back story. We kind of knew all from previous books. New information was maybe names of her ex partners and that was it. Some hints here and there. There was more background about Asad than about Morgan. I wanted more good things for Morgan.

Oh, how I love the Persian Excursion!

Asad has to head home for his younger brother's wedding, but he doesn't want to be faced with his mother setting him up with what she thinks will be the "perfect woman" for him, so he enlists the help of Morgan as his fake girlfriend. But because of Morgan's abusive past, everyone is afraid that if they have sex while away from the club, she may confuse things and start to develop feelings for him, so he has been warned by Master Patrick and his sub Lexi to not have sex with her this week while away...but honestly doesn't the forbidden make it more tempting?

Asad needs a date as a buffer from his family at his brother's wedding. Morgan needs to break free from all the overprotective Doms and her other friends. They should be a *fake* match made in heaven. But only if Morgan can get Asad to break the rules the other Doms have laid down - no sex.

Morgan's really glad for her awesome friends, but she's feeling suffocated by their overprotectiveness and all their rules. So when Master Asad needs a fake date for his brother's wedding, she knows she's the one he needs. And of course the fact that he's gorgeous, sweet, and their chemistry is sizzling, doesn't hurt. But if she can't get him to break the rules those Dom friends set, then their fake dating is going to remain just that - fake.

Sweet Doms are really my favorite kind, and that's exactly what Asad is. Though he's known as a commitment phobe, he's really just got leftover baggage from his childhood when his brother had cancer that has caused him to keep a part of himself back. Morgan, though she's got her own baggage, is the most amazing kind of sub - she's a strong survivor, she's sassy and bold, and equally as sweet as her Asad. I love their story, like I've been loving this whole series, and was cheering these two on with every interaction. They both deserved to find the love that we all search for, and couldn't have found a more perfect partner in each other.

A riveting read with a Submissive and Master from very different lives each with specific trauma from their childhood

Master Asad is a well-respected dominant in his club, he has the reputation of something of a playboy and yet this is not at all the true reflection of himself it is simply a persona he likes to hide behind. His family are close and yet he has always been an outsider since his younger brother had ill health which he overcame but his parents seemed to have forgotten that he also needed their support and love once the worry and illness had passed.

Morgan has been through some horrific life experiences and it is only because she was rescued by a dominant and his partner who had taken her away from her previous Master and helped her to get on her feet, find a job in a profession that she loved and also helped her to make new friends and begin a fresh start at life.

Morgan who has scened with Master Asad at their local BDSM club has agreed to accompany him as his girlfriend for his brother wedding so that he is not matched up with whoever his mother believes is suitable date material in the hope he may want to take that one step further.

They have a very busy week as the wedding has a great deal of social affairs and parties and meals and Asad and Morgan find themselves becoming closer and she seems to calm him and see and understand him in a way no one has before and this endears her to him but he knows that she is delicate and any relationship must be taken slowly and seriously.

I guarantee that you will be captivated by this book it is well written with wonderful characters.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

What is not to love about the world Golden Angel has created within The Marquis community? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. This is the one we've been waiting for. Master Asad, known as the Persian Excursion because of his playboy ways and commitment phobia, and Morgan, who has been through a hellacious past and is just coming out on a brighter side, have decided to present themselves as a couple to Asad's family at his younger brother's wedding. Why? Even though Asad's family loves him and vice-versa, they are meddlesome and he has enough unresolved baggage to deal with without having to deal with them. As for Morgan, she's just learning to be able to have friends, how to interact with people, and recognize what "normal" behavior is and she loves all the new friends she's met within the community but sweet bejeebers, they're suffocating her with kindness and concern. She'll never be able to come into herself if she can't breathe fully. This was an emotional journey for all of us, not just the characters but for me, and had me shedding more than a few tears in spots. Watching the two of them help each other grow individually and then the chemistry that had been subtly brewing explode within the pages was magnificent. Well worth the read yáll.

I loved this book. Sixth in the Masters of Marquis series.
Asad and Morgan are great characters.
Morgan, removed from a damaging relationship, finds herself being protected and coddled by everyone. She is not allowed to make any decisions for herself, even though everyone says she can.
Asad calls himself the Persian Excursion. Fun for a short ride but no commitment. With family issues of his own, he can't see himself getting attached to anyone.
When Asad needs a fake girlfriend for his brothers wedding, Morgan jumps at the offer. To get away from everyone and make her own decisions, if only for a week, sounds amazing.
Asad likes Morgan, likes her honesty, and goes along with the offer.
External rules and family pains make for an interesting tale, full of pain, passion, and healing on all sides.
I loved this story, these characters, and the overarching world they live in. The plot is supported by many old favourites, and new sides are shown for future leads, I hope.
I highly recommend this book, series, and author.

The story between Asad and Morgan. While I haven’t read all the previous books, I wish the author would have given us more backstory on Morgan and what she went through. You can piece together that she was sold by her parents at a young age and was a so called slave. I just had a hard time understanding how someone who could have went through that would really want anything more to do with kink. I also couldn’t understand her masochist tendencies either. To me, you think it would be the other way around. While Asad was a nice person in general, I certainly didn’t care for his sadistic nature either. I truly wonder it they know when enough is enough. Certainly not my bag. I glossed over those parts as I didn’t think that was steamy or sexy. Leaving marks and bruises on someone? I think they both need therapy and certainly not one who works in their flipping dungeon. I received an ARC copy.

Hot, hot, hot! The Persian Excursion has always been a wild ride, exclusivity only improves it! Determinedly single is the only description for Asad. He’s a one and done man until he’s told he can’t have something, someone. Morgan has been hurt, has a lot of hang-ups and is generally rather naive and vulnerable. But this time she’s determined! Determined to make her own choices and step out from behind the shelter of the many overprotective doms. When she learns that they told Asad, no-touching while they’re away for his brothers wedding, she’s even more determined to get what she wants Asad! The gloves come off in this heated, exciting story as they realize that faking it can cloud things. Feelings become very real, and things only get more heated. They’re a little messy, a little different, and a lot perfect for each other. The over-protective friends add a certain levity to the story that makes it a super fun, quirky and ultra hot romcom.

This book runs with the classic "fake girlfriend" trope. Master Asad needs a girlfriend for his brother's wedding, to keep his mother off of his back. Morgan needs to get out from under the very overprotective gaze of all of the Doms of the club (Morgan has a backstory with a LOT of abuse and she has the psychological scars to prove it). Master Asad (the Persian Excursion) is told to not mix sex with the week (yeah, right...) in order to not "confuse" Morgan. Nobody bothered telling Morgan about that limitation.

And they're off!

Honestly, nothing in the book is revolutionary but the book is quite well done. The evolving relationship is handled well. Morgan's interesting psychology (she definitely reads neurodivergent to me) is very well handled. The sex scenes are really hot. Basically this is a case of "Everyone knows where this is going to go but the process of getting there is great to watch".

A reputation for avoiding any kind of relationship Asad has built up a reputation which has earned him the title of the “Persian Excursion. With the upcoming wedding of his brother in an attempt to evade any matchmaking he asks Morgan to attend with him in the role of his fake girlfriend. 1 week with his family and Morgan at his side, secrets will be revealed by both Asad & Morgan that questions which I have been curious about in this series are answered. There was snippets from the other characters of the series but I loved how the story focused mainly on the characters away from Stronghold delving deeper into their respective histories which helped shape their personalities. Loved reading this latest chapter in the Masters of Marquis Series, Golden Angel has an incredible insight into what the reader wants and delivers each and every time.

1 week. 1 week was all it took...1 week for me to fall for you...

Morgan has finally found happiness. She has been through so much. Asad is known as the "Persian Excursion" and he lives up to that name. No relationships for him. However, he does need a fake girlfriend for a week for his brother's upcoming wedding. He needs to have his family stop pestering him to find a serious relationship with someone. Morgan is perfect for this and it is a win-win for both of them. Morgan wanted to get a break from the Doms at Marquis who were stifling her with their protection. She was fed up with them hovering around her like she might shatter into pieces at any time.

I enjoyed seeing Morgan and Asad navigate how they felt for each other. Very steamy and there were a few scenes where I laughed out loud. A very entertaining read.

I didn't expect to like this one because I didn't like Morgan and it's main conflict was based on an idea I find abhorrent, that of men controlling a woman's sexuality.

But it was a wonderful story.

Asad was charming, Morgan was refreshing, the relationship-building was adorable, the featured kink (role-play) was outstanding and the smut was hot, hot, hot!

My only complaint was

Highly recommend!

This is the sixth book in the Masters of Marquis series, and it is one that has been eagerly anticipated. Enter Asad, a serial playboy with a no strings attached policy. However, when Asad needs a date for his brother’s wedding, he invites Morgan and the two hatch a plan to act as a fake couple. This suits Morgan just fine as she is looking for a way to get out from under the pressures she is facing. As they maintain their relationship for wedding purposes, they help each other deal with their unresolved issues from the past. Their chemistry is sizzling, and the heat is felt throughout the storyline with some steamy scenes. Once again, Golden Angel has penned an engaging book that will have you hooked from beginning to end.

Aw I’ve read all the books I want to in these series so far now. Can’t wait for Rae and Brian’s next!

I’ve not been a fan of third person books for years except for a few authors and these books have definitely been added to that list! I love how character driven they are (despite all the sex haha) and how they don’t exactly follow the normal romance plot order where they don’t kiss/sleep together until 50% and then run away from the relationship for most of the book.

Idk how believable it is that nearly everyone is 100% ready for a super serious relationship but idc it’s fiction and they’ve all been so fun to read. They’re low angst and super sweet and I’m so glad I started the first series.

Loved! I say this with each book in this series... but I think this one is now my favorite. The Persian Excursion has fallen hard for one special submissive. Morgan's past was H*** and she is looking for something special. She has baggage and is innocent in some things. But she is also angry when she discovers that the Doms have told Asad the week away is a hands off when that is what she was looking forward to. A week away from the over protectiveness. A week of making her own decisions. I love the interactions between these two. How they both move on from their pasts and formed a relationship. How they both healed.

I did not want this book to end. It had me hooked.
