Another Kindle book. A cheap one at that. Maybe that's why I didn't like it.
Besides the fact that it was quite unbelievable. The assassin's wife's husband gets killed,
so of course she is now in danger. She had no idea that her husband was an
assassin. He left her a locked wooden box and with his dying breath told her
to go see a neighbor who would help her. Inside this box are instructions and
videos that teach her survival skills. Also, in the box are several types of guns.
And he also left her wads of cash; duffel bags full. Not so easy to carry around.
Anyway, after watching the videos several times, she is suddenly transformed into
an assassin herself. She can disassemble and reassemble weapons with no problem.
And she is also a crack shot! She's got fighting skills she never had before. Just
amazing. I couldn't wait to finish this book, just to get it over with.

I loved this book. It grabbed me from the first moment and kept my gripped all the way through. Just when you thought you figured it out, there you'd go again! It was action packed. Meg is a great lead in the book and managed to survive against all odds. Don't miss this book! The ending will make you want more!

The Assassin’s Wife: A Thriller was an interesting listen. Meg and Eric Cole are spending a week in their cabin when Meg sees her husband carrying a coffin-shaped box to the shed and acting suspicious. She didn’t like being lied to and felt that he was hiding something from her. About that time the phone rang and it was for Eric. He said it was Len Ackerman and that there was a problem with one of their properties in Seattle but she knew it wasn’t his voice.

While sleeping that night Meg hears the floor creaking ever so quietly and notices that Eric isn’t in bed with her. A strange man is looming over her and bullets begin to fly. Eric is killed but has time to give her instructions on what to do before he passes. He tells her he isn’t who she thinks he is. He tells her to go to their nearest neighbor and friend, Bill Hagerman and have him take her to Lomax. Upon arriving at Hagerman’s with the box in tow, Bill isn’t there but rather a man named Neil, claiming to be Bill’s brother. Meg learns that now she’s in a fight for the truth and for her life but she has to follow the instructions that Eric has left on a DVD or she’ll be killed. She has to become an assassin.

I felt the story was a good thriller but could have been an edge of your seat thriller. Where it fell short for me was the believable factor. There were several scenes that would be impossible such as Meg lugging around a large box filled with $7 million in cash. Another instance was when Meg went to see the man her husband instructed her to see and in order to prove who she was, she had to tell him the name of her favorite play. Lastly, it began to feel redundant when the author kept reiterating the fact that Meg was a drama professor. The story was good, however I felt that the author rushed it by leaving out key details that would have made the story more cohesive.

About the narrator: Kitty Hendrix did a wonderful job as always with her performance. She has good character differentiation. Her voice inflections were very good and it was paced perfectly. Her tone was just right for Meg and I feel that she was the saving grace of this story. Overall I would recommend listening to this audiobook for a good thriller.

Drama professor Meg Coles lives a normal life, even when she see's her husband of 10 years, Eric, creeping through the backyard to the shop. After he puts her mind at ease, everything seems to be business as usual. That is until a frightening evening strikes.

When an intruder kills Eric, Meg barely escapes with her life. Meg, now on the run, realizes that she is the main suspect in the murder of her husband. Not one that, she is on the FBI's Most Wanted list for the murder. Now, the Feds are after her as well.

With everyone knowing what she looks like, Meg must tip toe across the country, going from disguise to disguise, before the clues lead her to the Northwest corner of the United States. Meg has to dodge assassins and stay in the shadows as she tries to solve the murder of her husband.

This fast-paced thriller by Roger Weston is a fantastic read. It is captivating, action-packed, and will keep you entertained for hours. Although the idea that a drama professor is so well-versed in counterspy tactics is a little hard to grasp, I would love to see a follow up to this story or a little more backstory on the characters, especially Meg Coles. She is a interesting, talented character, and I would love to know more about her. She is a strong, female protagonist, which is quite uncommon in the thriller genre, and it made this book even more entertaining and enjoyable. This story doesn't slow down for anything, even for a moment. From Chapter 1 it is pure action, and it doesn't stop until the book is closed.

This is a great thriller, especially for those who like authors such as Daniel Silva, Ted Bell, or Brad Thor. Weston does an amazing job and creating these characters and tells the story as if you are actually there. I was constantly floored by the description and detail put in to the scenes and environments that the characters passed through, especially in the final scenes. This was a novel that is a fun read and will keep your heart pumping until the very end.

Audiobook Review: This is the first time I've heard Kitty Hendrix narrate a book, and wow, she did not disappoint. She was able to infuse emotion into the characters, and did an amazing job at voicing Meg. With the constant action in this story, it is important for a narrator to go with the vibe of the scene, whether it be a sad scene, a shoot-out, or simple, calm dialogue. Hendrix did all of these fabulously, and it made the story so enjoyable. I finished this audiobook in less than 24 hours. It was a great listen, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

My original audiobook review and many others can be found at .

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.

Eric Coles was dead, shot by a sniper. He died in Meg Coles arms. His last words telling her he was sorry, he wasn’t who she thought he was, and to get the wooden box and run for her life. Meg is now on the run with Neil, her neighbors brother(?). During the next few days she will become a fugitive. Someone very powerful is behind the murder and the attempts on her life. She quickly learns not to trust anyone but the people Eric told her to.

There was a lot of action in this story. It bounced around the upper northwest part of the states and even into Alaska. I checked up on some of the places mentioned and they were there. I really liked the Snake River and Hell’s canyon parts. It’s just as Weston stated. The one problem I had with the whole plot was that Meg, a drama professor with no gun or fighting talents, watched a video Eric left for her and was an instant Superwoman. Also, that she got into fights and just bounced back up and overcame the professional assassins. Just a little hard to believe. I’m not saying I didn’t like the book,
I did, but I did.

It started at the top of the rollercoaster, took off, and never let up. I started this audio book in the morning and finished in the evening. Just loved the audio. With the right reader you can live the action with the characters, and did Ms. Kitty ever deliver. Just loved the way she told this story. Her voice was clear and articulate. Brought them to life, it was fantastic.

I thought the cover was right on. The best action was on the river.

Fast forward and hold onto your chair.

Fast paced and exciting . Drama professor to "die hard action" at times believable and other times had to chuckle. Enjoy the ride for some light reading with lots of bad guys with guns. Great book for beach, flying or just relaxing with a glass of wine. Did enjoy the ride and would read another offering by this author.

This book grabbed me with the first sentence. It was adventure filled and thrilling. Not my usual genre, but it certainly kept me interested and entertained. Have fun!

I also read Weston's "The Golden Catch" and will read more by this author when they become available.

Fast paced and full of action, this book pulled me in from the start. I loved the determination and strength of Meg. It's nice to see a strong female as the main character in a thriller/action book and proving she could hold her own and not give up.

Exciting from the first page. Perhaps a little fanciful at some stages but entertaining for the recently retired

I look forward to starting a new series next month and perhaps more over the Christmas holidays. Many thanks Richard

I found the wife's actions throughout the book rather unbelievable. It was a little over the top. But the story was interesting nonetheless.

I really enjoyed this book, it was fast paced and had an edge of your seat pace to it. I loved that Meg was able to outwit and get away from the assassins sent to kill her but that is where it became a bit unbelievable. SPOILERS-- It's a bit unbelievable. Meg has her husband, Eric, die in her arms, goes on the run, finds and watches videos that Eric has made for her to learn self defense moves among other things to evade and survive assassins that will be coming after her. Knowing nothing of this world she not only becomes an immediate expert, but kicks the butts of several trained, male assassins that have been sent to kill her. Having never done any self defense before in her life. Then when she's on the ship with Lomax and they're loaded into the cargo container and dropped into the ocean to drown the captain brings them up seconds away from drowning. This makes no sense. Carl the evil man in charge beat the crap out of the captain just days before for only suggesting disobeying an order, why on earth would he do this when he knows Carl kills people for no good reason? The ending is a bit rushed and lacks details making it feel like the real ending to the book. Even with all of this, I still feel it was a good and enjoyable read and would recommend it.

Highly unlikely. No common drama teacher could take her husband's place against the FBI and top assassins. No ordinary person could watch a few videos for training and kill, Hide from, get away from men who have trained for years and years and years. She never even held a gun and you want us to believe she took over her husband's job as a top American assassin??!! Not much plot to why they are after her either. The only thing this book did right was prove the government is corrupt.

Unbelievable, extremely over-dramatic, and ridiculous. I finished it because it didn’t offend me, but I was rolling my eyes by the time it was finally over. Do not recommend.

Chick-lit thriller. "Batman" (the TV show) like writing. Unbelievable from the beginning. Can be read in under four hours. But why bother?
