Readers will learn to draw swashbucklers, buccaneers and famous pirates from history in this exciting volume. Starting with the basics, this book guides young artists through creating fearsome pirates and exciting ship scenes. David Antram studied at Eastbourne College of Art and then worked in advertising for 15 years before becoming a full-time illustrator. He has since illustrated well over 100 titles, mainly for children and young adults, including around 60 in the bestselling You Wouldn't Want to Be series.
This book starts with a summary about drawing and explains that practice makes perfect. Then it describes the various tools that can be used to draw and emphasizes getting a parents help if a fixative is needed. Then each page shows how to draw something new. The tips are pretty easy to follow, but for someone with no artistic talent, such as myself, I do not know if I would be able to follow them. The drawings progressively get more difficult and involved. My students who love drawing books will love this one as well.
