Loner, John Quincy Stormcloud is one of the best in his business--a security expert with no ties or emotions. Assigned to protect a sexy computer programmer who has seen too much, he breaks the first rule of bodyguards - never get involved. But he can't resist the allure of her feisty innocence, can't keep his hands off her tempting curves, and can't stop until he makes her his.

As an up-and-coming computer programmer, Debbie Sheldon has had one hell of a year, dealing first with the sexual harassment and ideas stolen by her male co-workers, then an attack on her friend. Vulnerable to her buff bodyguard's dominant seduction, she can't resist as he draws her deeper into submission. She needs him for the pleasure his body provides, but can he see her as more than job?

Abby Gordon spent most of her free time in school writing stories. English teachers were thrilled, math and science not so much.
I'm focusing on two very different series and trying to tell outside stories to take a number. That doesn't always work, but I try!
Love in the Shadows is a contemporary series - heavy on the action - of all sorts, very spicy and detailed.
The Order of the Rose is an historical saga as two secret societies with very different goals struggle across Europe and time.

Ok just want to start with if you have not read the first book in the series, beck and call, then you will be confused. Just wanted to point out that disclaimer. Now onto the good stuff.
Debbie has two best friends and when of them was attacked her whole world gets turned up side down. Now with a bodyguard of her own and trying to find out her own feelings Debbie goes on an emotional rollercoaster that at times can be a little annoying but would be completely the same thought process for any other woman who was going through the same thing that she was. Debbie is a strong woman who doesn't like to let anyone really in until her inner sub meets her very own dom that brings out the real her.
Quincy is a bodyguard who, when he first meets Debbie, sees the potential for her to be an amazong submissive. Now will he have the guts to bring out the true her while protecting her or will real life and all the problems/danger they are facing be enough to pull them apart forever.
I trully liked how these two connected because the thought process for both of them was just what most people with their background and problems would think.
This was definitely a great read for anyone who wanted some bdsm and wanted a great read for those days you just want to be lost in a world not your own.

I have to admit that I was really disappointed with this book. I thought that the story was really hard to follow and I remained confused throughout the whole story. It stated out ok, but then when John and Debbie meet up that’s when the confusion starts and it just kept getting worse. I felt like I was walking into the middle of the conversation as I was reading and I never was able to catch up with the conversation. It almost felt as if the author knew what she wanted to say but didn’t give us the necessary back story so that we could follow the story.

I was confused as to who was attacked and who witnessed the attack, as the main character (Debbie) was the only one really talked about in the book. One of her friends (I think), was involved with two men but you never really find out what was really going on. I would have LOVED to read about that! And the person who DID get attacked (I think, again), was never mentioned except in passing and I never got to read about her. I believe she was involved with a man who was into the BDSM lifestyle.

It was toward the very end of the book that I realized who the attacker was and how they fit into the story. It was also toward the very end of the book that this reader realized that the story takes place in NYC. I personally didn’t like either John or Debbie. I thought John was a weenie who was too domineering for me. He wasn’t sexy or alpha just a major weenie. He never said anything funny or sweet. He was boring and not very intelligent. He was very one dimensional. Debbie was supposed to be this strong sexy female that knows how to get things done; I found her to be a wimp who whined all the time, AND to top it all off, she was judging her friends relationships with their boyfriends, when she had no clue what she was even talking about. She really annoyed me.A LOT! I found her to be one dimensional as well.

I think what disappointed me the most was I never really found out what happened…to anyone. The bad guy was never thrown in jail and things are set to rights. The person who was attacked was never seen or heard from throughout the book. Debbie and John had this intense sexual escapade at the end and that’s how the story ends.AHHHHHH! Not cool!

3.5 stars. At times there are so many characters on the scene you can't tell who is who.
And it gets a little repetitive.
