BRIEF SUMMARY

Lauren is a little depress after introducing her sister to her crush, because now they’re engaged. While attending their combined bachelor and bachelorette party she meets Jamie. Deciding to enjoy the moment, Lauren follows Jamie to his room to unleash her curiosity in a sexual affair for the weekend with no strings attached.

THOUGHTS

Personally, I enjoyed this story. It felt a bit different, unusual and exciting as both characters experiences are played out. The storyline was based on Lauren and Jamie’s weekend of lust together, with a bit of other elements thrown in. It felt like a how to book for beginners with BDSM.

Lauren’s character came off a bit shy and uncertain; she also had self pity towards herself. Jamie was very dominating and oozes sexual appeal, but also has his inner turmoil that he deals with that prevents him from entering relationships. However, with both Jamie and Lauren’s characteristics, it worked well for both once Jamie introduces Lauren into BDSM; shy uncertain girl with dominating guy. The moment Lauren sees Jamie across the room, it built a kind of anticipation for me, and the moment they entered the room my anticipation was heighten. I enjoyed the authors approach to Lauren’s first experience to BDSM and her first night with Jamie and Jamie’s experience the second night. A bit towards the end the author tied in romance and a gesture from Jamie that I thought was sweet.

The other elements in the story were Lauren’s sister, Crystal, whose storyline I didn’t really cared for, although I see how her storyline factors in with Lauren. And Sawyer, Jamie’s good friend; I really enjoyed him and hope to read more regarding his character. I am also interested in the infamous club called ‘The Cave that was spoken of that is an underground BDSM club.

Overall, this was an enjoyable novella from the author and I look forward to more stories as I liked the author’s blend of BDSM and romance.

This was a quick, sexy story that was a lot of fun. Lauren was looking for a way out of her life for a short time; Jamie was looking for some fun. Lauren thinks she knows what she's getting into with Jamie, but ends up getting a whole lot more than she bargained for. Jamie opened her mind to a world she had only dreamed of before.

I loved this story enough to wish it had been longer. There was definitely enough hotness there for a full-length book. The characters were great and easily likable, and I could definitely see an interesting side story with Lauren's mother and sister. I would also love to have more of Sawyer! As there is a #1 behind this book, I will definitely be looking for more!

A cute shortie. The shy sister hooks up with a dominant hottie. BDSM themed. Very small ow and om drama with her annoying sister and sister's sleazy fiancé. This felt more like a glimpse into a new relationship since it was so short.

I really loved this book , so funny and gripping, and has a good stance at familly affairs.

It was Jamie(Dom)and Lauren's (sub) meeting story.

Lauren has a crush her coworker but unfortunately she is the agent of her sister and this coworker meeting, now they getting ready to marry and Lauren feels deppressed. But the unexpected happens and a sexy Dom makes an apperance and suggest her a fling.

What i liked about this book is Jamie's imagination and his barter with Simon and of couse how he approaches her.

About Lauren she know was she getting herself into, i liked most about herthat she is new but, she is not unaware.

The story is about bdsm, but it is not heavy, no public scenes or sharing, mostly two person find their love. Quite fluent.

End of story was really beautiful, his imaginary shows off again.

It was ok.

There wasn't much plot, just a whole lot of education into the BDSM Scene.

Girl walks into a bar...not really, she was already there...sees hot guy. Sees his black one night I'm a bossy top black hanky hanging out of his back pocket. They hook up. Negotiate terms (hmm. Sounds interesting) & go do their "scene". He kinda likes her and invites her back for more.

After that weekend... he thinks of her. She thinks of him. More story happens & it's sadly over.

It wasn't bad. I just wish there was more story to it. It was a fast read and a whole lot of education. LOL! I had fun!

No much to say about this. It was short and just okay. The steaminess was pretty hot. The first time I've really read about a Dom who is kinda wussy, and I don't know if it was refreshing or annoying. The sub was a BBW and very insecure. What a pair, no?! I just don't know what he saw in her. There's a big difference between being a submissive and being an insecure girl/woman who let's others walk all over her. I wouldn't recommend or reread this and I'm undecided if I'd read another book by this author. However, if you're looking for a quick spicy read, then this might not be a bad option.

This was OK. It's short and very steamy. But aside from the sexy scenes, there wasn't too much substance. I wish it was longer because I didn't feel like I got to know either characters at all. Aside from sex, I didn't see their connection or chemistry. It does have S&M in it, so if that's not your thing, you might not like this one.

Wicked Weekend is a short novella about Lauren Vaughn's fantasy of BDSM and the man she meets who helps fulfill it. Lauren sees herself as too curvy and always lost in her little sister's shadow. When the story starts, we find her at her sister's bachelorette party, as her sister prepares to marry the man Lauren has had a crush on forever. Needing escape, she ends up at the bar of the restaurant, where she spots Jamie and the handkerchief hanging out of his pocket. She lingers on it, but doesn't make a move and doesn't think anything will come of it, until Jamie approaches her. What happens next is the best night of her life! Her introduction to BDSM leaves her wanting more...and more of Jamie. She can't stop thinking about him now, and accepts his offer for another night. But this time, it doesn't go as planned...as Jamie's history comes back to haunt him and taint the experience.

Both Lauren and Jamie were easily likable, as well as Sawyer, Jamie's friend and Lauren's idol in the BDSM world. Lauren has issues with self confidence, and seems to find an inner strength through her encounter with Jamie. And Jamie has issues with relationships, due to his family history. Both don't count on the heat and reaction to each other turning into wanting something more than just a sexual fling. Jamie can't deal with it at first, and it affects their second sexual encounter leading to some misunderstandings. Also, though their relationship was purely sexual and they hadn't talked enough to have a deep relationship, I was rooting for them.

Another interesting aspect was the flagging system. I haven't researched BDSM or anything, so I'm not sure if that's a common aspect of it, but I found it interesting. I hope it's explained more in future installments of this series. I'm interested in what all the different colors mean, since Sawyer was mentioned as having a gray hanging out. I don't know if I missed it, but I don't think it was explained what exactly that meant and I want to know! Haha...

This was a fast read, and I enjoyed it. It has several sexual scenes that are graphic, but not to an extreme, so be aware of that. I recommend it if you're open to the idea of BDSM and looking for a quick, hot read.

WICKED WEEKEND was full of promise and way too quick! Exactly like a real weekend!

While attending a joint bachelor/bachelorette party for her sister and her soon to be husband, single Lauren can barely stomach the lovey-dovey, PDA they force all who surround them to endure. What makes the situation even tougher to withstand, is the fact that the man her sister is marrying also happens to be the only man Lauren has lusted after her entire life. *Mental Pity-Party Time*. All she can think about is escaping the antics of her attention-whore-of-a-sister, so when the opportunity arises, Lauren escapes to the bar in hopes of grabbing a moment of peace to regain her composure.

The great escape to the bar turns out to be the beginning of a very naughty and very WICKED WEEKEND when Lauren spots an Adonis at the bar, flagging a black handkerchief the classic sign (apparently) for people in “the lifestyle to display when looking for a no strings attached fling with a submissive. Well... H-E-L-L-O! The handsome stranger, Jamie, is just what the doctor ordered and may be the perfect distraction to help her get through the love-fest of a weekend that’s ahead of her.

This novella had a great premise and I really enjoyed it, but it felt a little rushed in some areas. I would have loved to have seen a little more development between the characters, Lauren and Jamie, but it was a fun story even as a quickie.

I don't read too many Erotica novels ( Not because I have anything against them, my poison of choice just happens to be YA paranormal romances ), but of all those that I have had the pleasure ot reading, Wicked Weekend was by far the best.

A delicious novella about a woman who has to, unfortunately, put up with the fact that her sister is about to marry the hunky co-worker she used to drool over. Lauren made the mistake of introducing her younger, sexier, bitchier sister to the man of her dreams...or so she thought he was.

A joint bachelor/ette weekend away means Lauren has to suffer through the constant lovey-dovey display put on by the soon-to-be-married couple. However, she will soon discover that the weekend doesn't have to be a total disaster. Jamie Forman is just the thing she needs to distract her. He is gorgeous and sexy, and when Jamie shows interest in her, Lauren can hardly believe her luck.

A night of unbridled passion brings out the inner bad girl in Lauren, and she finds herself wanting more than just a single night in the arms of Jamie. The question is, can either of them spend another night together, without wanting more than just a casual weekend of fun?

I loved Lauren! Even though she starts off believing she is not worthy of someone as smouldering as Jamie, she throws caution to the wind and in the process discovers her inner strength. I especially enjoyed Lauren's reaction to her very first encounter with BDSM. Trying to be brave, she is still as scared as hell and her fear of rejection makes her real. I think anyone in her position would feel exactly the same way.

I would recommend this novella to anyone interested in reading BDSM Erotica. The scenes are not as hardcore as some of the books I have read, but they are still deliciously sensual and sexy. I believe it would be a great way to ease a reader into the genre without shocking them.

Thank you to Carina Press for giving me the opportunity to review Wicked Weekend.

Beta Dom??

This was a miss for me. Too superficial to really draw me into the story.
Jamie obviously had a backstory that was never developed. He is just too beta to come over as a real dom.
Lauren does a fast 180 from pining over a lost opportunity at love to moving on to a quick encounter with a total stranger.
Just felt rushed and underdeveloped.

Couldn't get into this one. Even though it is less than 100 pages didn't feel compelled to finish it. Didn't find the sex scenes hot. It felt more like a BDSM How To instead if an erotic novella. DNF

The Blurb:

Why did Lauren Vaughn introduce her sister to the man she herself was crazy about? Now Lauren is watching the happy couple at their combined bachelor/bachelorette party-while Lauren sits all alone at the bar. Until she spots a hot stranger with the telltale black handkerchief in his pocket: the signal for "seeks no-strings affair with sexy submissive." Lauren can't take her eyes off him. So when he comes over, she kicks her inner good girl to the curb and follows Jamie Forman to his room, where he makes her scream with pleasure all night long.

But Jamie is a complicated man. He can't handle how desperately he wants her in his bed-and his life. It's up to Lauren to teach him how to make all night last forever.

My Take:

I've read maybe a handful of erotic BDSM type romances in my life so as such I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from this novella, but I very much enjoyed it. I thought the portrayal of a Dominant/Submissive sexual encounter was done very tastefully and gave me (I think) a realistic glimpse into this particular area of sex. It was tastefully done and very hot, just the way I like my romances :-D.

Jamie was delicious and sexy and I loved how "gentle" he was with Lauren in her first few encounters with this particular type of sex life. Despite her always wanting to have a BDSM type relationship with a man where she could be completely submissive, she's never truly had one and as such has always been slightly unsatisfied with her sex life. That is, until she meets Jamie. He handles her with care, and makes sure she is completely one hundred percent comfortable with their respective roles in the bedroom. This being an erotic romance, they don't spend much time out of the bedroom, but that's totally fine and I feel that there was definitely character growth between the two of them regardless of them hardly leaving the bedroom.

The one thing I had a problem with is Lauren's complete lack of self-esteem. I know she craves being a submissive, and I know that he sister is a royal beyotch and always puts her down, and sure she should have doubts like any normal person during a sexual encounter with a man they've never met particularly when they are going to partake in some "kink", but her constant doubting of herself and her appeal and whether she can truly please Jamie and why he would want someone like her, got a bit annoying. I like my heroines to be somewhat confidant in themselves, we all have doubts, but it just seems that if someone has as many doubts and concerns running through her head during sex as Lauren did, wouldn't be able to enjoy themselves at all.

Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable read. It's hard to be completely objective to the BDSM quality of this particular story having never really read any prior, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a super quick and super sexy read.

My Rating: 4/5 Lattes

I have read a recent book by Gillian that was just published and it was amazing. This book however, was her first to write and it definately is VERY different 👀 Very BDSM. The dialogue between characters is very 50 Shades of Grey bossy and cringeworthy on audio. Calling her vagina "my sex" wee bit much🤷‍♀ thats only 1% of the cringeworthy things said. I look forward to reading more of Gillians recent books and after reading SPARK I have faith.

A copy of this book was provided by the author for an honest review at .

I think I’ve mentioned this in previous reviews, but it bears repeating here: It takes a special talent to write a good romance novella. You’ve got about 100 pages or so to make your reader believe that these characters not only have a genuine attraction that makes them want to be together, but that they will stay together - if not forever, than at least past the end of the story. After all, pretty much anybody can write multiple chapters of insta-lust sex scenes, then slap a happy ending on it and call it a day. It doesn’t mean that what they’ve written will be believable, or even readable. So when I read a romance novella that does everything well and makes me want more without feeling deprived, I want to tell everybody.

WICKED WEEKEND by Gillian Archer is one of those romance novellas. It tells the story of how the woman who just lost her office crush to her sister finds a much better man and perhaps even a chance at true love. Lauren is one of those people who always end up doing what other people expect, especially when it’s for someone in her family. That’s how she ended up in the same ski resort bar as Jamie, a man who would never let anyone push him around that way. Lauren’s love life is practically non-existent, but she’s read about other more fascinating sexual lifestyles, so when she sees a black handkerchief sticking out of Jamie’s back left pocket, she knows he’s a Dom looking for a sub. But it takes Jamie’s mutual attraction for Lauren to convince her to not only go up to his room for the night, but also give herself over for what proves to be a pivotal weekend for them both.

I’ve read quite a lot of BDSM-themed erotic romances, but the handkerchief code was a new one on me. (It does exist, mind you, and some quick online searching was especially enlightening.) I enjoyed this more believable way for Lauren to recognize that Jamie was just the sort of man she had always wanted to help her explore her as-yet-unrealized fantasies of being a sexual submissive, if only for just one night. I’ve read too many books where the Dominant simply “senses that the other person is submissive just by looking at them for 5 minutes, and while I’m not saying that could never happen, the handkerchief code seemed more plausible for me, especially in this shorter format.

Jamie and Lauren have a great personal rapport when they first meet, but that doesn’t mean their initial sexual encounters go off without a hitch. Again, this made the progression of the romance so much more believable, and seeing the way they both dealt with their differences then, and later as the story developed, was the best part of the story for me. By the time we got to their final conflict, it was obvious that they would be able to take their relationship to the next level, and embrace their need to be together both in and out of the bedroom. All this made WICKED WEEKEND a wonderful example of a romance novella with the Happy For Now ending, one where we can imagine what happens next without the need for a marriage proposal or baby epilogue. I loved every minute I spent reading it.

Have you ever been forced to go to those family functions that you just dread because you know that one of your family members might torture you mentally, emotionally, or both? That is what happens to Lauren Vaughn after her sister gets engaged to the man that Lauren had a crush on. If only she hadn't introduced them, perhaps she would be the one celebrating while her sister pouts in the corner. Unfortunately for her that is not the case and Lauren finds herself at Mount Charleston, a ski resort just outside of Las Vegas where her sister is having her bachelor/bachelorette party weekend before the big day. Feeling like the black sheep of the bunch, Lauren hides in the corner of the bar hoping to avoid the humiliation of being asked to serve drinks when she notices a handsome man wearing a black handkerchief in his back, left pocket. He was flagging! Jamie knew what that handkerchief meant and was curious to know more about this mysterious Dom looking for some fun. She didn't have to wait long.

Jamie Forman noticed the pretty girl all alone at the bar and couldn't quite tell if she was checking out his back side or the flag in his back pocket. After throwing out some investigative questions, he learns that Lauren is new to the lifestyle but well aware of it and ready to play. When he proposes an evening of controlled pleasure, Lauren is quick to agree and heads off to see if Jamie is just what she has been waiting for and if a good spanking is what she really needs.

This was a fun and somewhat light BDSM story with some serious undertones. I really enjoy how easy it is to identify with Lauren and the fact that she is not the "golden child" of her family. It is difficult being in the shadow of a sibling and when Lauren learns that her sister's relationship isn't all sunshine and roses, she realizes the grass isn't always greener and gives in to her inner needs rather than a childhood infatuation. Sometimes we need to take that leap of faith and that is exactly what Lauren does. Now if Jaime can get over his own fears, perhaps the two will realize that they are perfect for one another.

Gillian Archer has done a fantastic job bringing readers into the nervousness that comes with being a newbie to BDSM. While the scenes in this book are not hard core, they do portray the underlying issues that BDSM can bring out in both a Dom and a Sub. Fear, trust, jealousy, and love are all things that must be understood and dealt with in such a relationship and Gillian conveys that sensitivity in a sweet but expressive story about a woman finally standing up for what she wants and a man ready to get over his childhood fears.

This [book is] purely about sex. No strings, just hot and naughty sex, nothing else.

But it isn’t. There’s more to the story than just bedroom antics although I thoroughly enjoyed said antics.

I loved the cover. It’s playful and sexy much like the story itself. I really enjoyed the story. It starts off with Lauren Vaughn being miserable at her sister’s combined bachelor/bachelorette party jealous that her sister has managed to snag the man of Lauren’s daydreams and not enjoying the company of the other party guests. That is until Lauren spies a stranger with a black handkerchief in his back pocket and a very fine behind Lauren’s been researching the dominant/submissive lifestyle online and is more than a little intrigued by handsome dom.Jamie Forman quickly introduces himself to Lauren and quick as can be, they embark in a wicked weekend that will change Lauren’s life (or at least her sex life) forever.

The story is really enjoyable. It’s spicy and addresses some of the issues that I’ve read about the lifestyle in other BDSM novels. I liked that Lauren made sure to call a friend and check in before her night with her handsome stranger (although I would have liked it if Lauren checked his ID too just to make sure he was who he said he was) as well as getting someone to vouch for Jamie’s character but it still felt a little too quick for me. They exchange names and before they can discuss anything else they’re involved in a full blown conversation about the lifestyle and how much Lauren knows about it. It just felt a little too forward? But then again this is a novella and it is just a novel. Sometimes I think I can get a little too hung up on the details. Some of the language used wasn’t my cup of tea. I don’t like it when dirty talk is too harsh or too gritty? With that said, it fit the situation. Lauren was into it

As for the characters? I thought they were really well written. Lauren was slightly socially awkward but really amusing with her inner dialogue. I was really glad to see that she managed to be more comfortable with herself and also managed to find some common ground with her sister. Jamie, the super confident and experienced Dom, endeared himself more to me as the story went on and we got to see that he wasn’t all that he appeared at the start. There was a lot of character growth despite this only being a novella. There were times when I felt that Lauren was being slightly hypocritical but I was glad to see that those issues were addressed before the end of the story. I really enjoyed Wicked Weekend. Yes, there were some things I wasn’t overly fond of but this was a steamy love story that in the end was a pleasure to read.

Lauren is a woman who really needs to feel that she is worthy of a man who loves and respects her. But she is also a woman who is slowly acknowledging her deeper and darker desires and because of that has done significant searching and reading about the BDSM lifestyle. Why she introduced her sister to the man she wanted for herself is anyone's guess. Probably just another indication that Lauren was one of those individuals who wanted to take care of others--a sign of a very caring, giving nature--and in the end, was the one who was left alone. Now her sister and Lauren's love interest are engaged and getting married soon. The last place Lauren wants to be is at her sister's bachelorette party--a skiing part, of all things, but it is here that she first spies Jamie, a Dom looking to hook up with a willing, no-strings-attached sub. Why not hook up? Maybe then it won't be a wasted weekend, or so Lauren reasoned.

And so Lauren and Jamie begin their time together--she, as an adventure of discovery, and he, as having another fun playtime with a woman who will expect nothing beyond their "scene." I guess the question that is at the heart of this story is: "Who is really at loose ends here? Is it really Lauren? Or perhaps Jamie is more at loose ends than he realizes." Jamie is a man who has managed to act on his inner urges, is a trained and caring Dom, but he still wants to get in and get out without any emotional connections. Even though Lauren goes into the "fling" aware that it is a one-time thing, she is at least honest enough to realize that a series of these kinds of flings are not what she really needs. Ultimately she wants security and permanence, the kind of loving connection that sustains and heals and fulfills.

This is a novella and as such is a relatively quick read. I liked Jamie and Lauren, I liked knowing that Lauren discovers lots about herself as well as coming to realize that the many marrying her sister is a schmuck. I got the sense that Lauren discovered stuff about her sister that may have dismayed her but also gave her the strength to walk her own path. I didn't like that fact that the piece was too short to really tease out Lauren and Jamie's story or to develop the context of the story more fully. I think novellas fill a need we all have to find fiction that can fit into busy schedules. But it has the basis of a very good longer story and I was disappointed that it ended somewhat abruptly. All that being said, I did actually enjoy the story and found it to be a satisfying read--just too short. The piece was well written and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Breve, hot e irresistibile.
Buona lettura guys!

Lauren finds herself on a ski get away weekend for her sister’s bachelorette party. She can’t believe she is there or that she actually introduced her crush to her “perfect sister. She is self-conscious of herself and has always felt that she is in her sister’s shadow, why wouldn’t he fall for her? Lauren just wants to get away and have a little fun herself and she knows just the person provide it, the guy with the black handkerchief in his back pocket.

Lauren has been intrigued with the world of BDSM and wants to try it out. She has done a lot of research on the subject and when she spots Jamie’s black handkerchief she can’t believe her luck. However, she doesn’t seem to have a high impression of herself and doesn’t think he would want to “play with her. I loved that he saw her as beautiful no matter what the outside package looks like.

Jamie is intrigued by Lauren and wants to introduce her to his world. He finds her sexy and beautiful and thinks her sister is shallow and just mean. He knows that as her DOM he is going to have to take it slow with Lauren, until she becomes comfortable with the BDSM world. She doesn’t know exactly what she needs but Jamie knows that he is the one that can give her the sexual satisfaction that she has been lacking.

Lauren’s introduction into the BDSM world may have been slow but it was very sexy. It seemed like he was more concerned about building her trust in him than truly being a DOM to her. To me it felt like he was holding back some and maybe not being true to his self or nature. However, that being said, I found the whole episode in the room extremely erotic, especially when he had her blindfolded. I would love to see them together at the club and see how he truly is as a DOM.

The characters seemed to lack history or connection. We know that Lauren lacks self-esteem and Jamie seems to help with that but we really don’t know much else about her. Jamie has commitment issues but it seems that Lauren may be the one to make him re-think is stance on relationships. Her sister is just mean and nasty and the fiancé is a sleaze. I am glad that Lauren realized that she didn’t lose anything when he chose her sister.

Overall this was a fun read and I give Wicked Weekend 3½ Flaming Hearts.

Why did Lauren Vaughn introduce her sister to the man she herself was crazy about? Now Lauren is watching the happy couple at their combined bachelor/bachelorette party—while Lauren sits all alone at the bar.

He can't handle how desperately he wants her in his bed—and his life. It's up to Lauren to teach him how to make all night last forever.

This book was a short but hot read. The sex was steamy and the overall story was good. The heroines sister was a bitch and I am happy to see she got what she deserved. And I was relieved that Lauren realized how lucky she was to haved dodged that bullet. As far as Jamie, he is definitely a tortured hero: my favorite kind!

I kind of felt that the H/H had a lot of baggage and the story was really too short to explain it away. Also I was a little confused about the "flagging" thing. I don't know if it wasn't better explained because the author assumes a prior knowledge of it all (which I don't have) or maybe she only felt that she explained it enough for the story. In that case, I guess she did, but I like to know details. And that is my failing. I like short stories because they are fast to read, but sometimes I feel like I don't get enough details. Again, my problem. I don't want to stop reading novellas or short stories, but so many of them leave me wanting more.

This book is the first in a series so I am hoping in the future books there will be more explaining of "flagging" Overall, I did enjoy the book. As I explained most of the issues I had with it, were my own personal preference issues. I recommend you give this book a try. I will be looking out for book two in the series.

Gillian Archer provides a technically well-written narrative, but the characters are not deeply enough developed to make the range of their experiences in the story believable. Also, too many words are sacrificed to flagging, apparently a signalling method in BDSM clubs.* But then that isn't really used much and makes me think those words were wasted.

The male character is all swagger trolling for casual BDSM sex and then does a one-eighty for a relationship. The description of instant chemistry and a 3 minute negotiation prior to going upstairs for sex between Lauren, a character who is a patently meek doormat and Jaime who is ostensibly a top just didn't work for me. Plus, the bride, Lauren's sister, and groom, Pierce, are cartoonishly bitchy and slimy.

It's not hard to believe Lauren would be a bottom though as she seems to be one in life as far as we see;but in truth it's hard to believe someone so buttoned up was into BDSM. It's always the quiet ones, isn't it? But Jaime's character outside of the "scene" makes it hard to see him as a confident top. The "dirty" talk agreed to in their negotiation was actually something I can't fathom. Why being called a slut or a cunt would make you hot is just something I don't get. Maybe it's the anti-authority nature of it that is the turn-on, like, "Wouldn't this shock the nuns at St.Agatha's!" With this particular character and his history, it makes me feel "dirty" talk isn't an emotionally positive act. But, to each his/her own, I guess.

This gets a solid "Meh."

This is a fast little 107 page read. I wasn't sure what to expect. The book being short and also not knowing anything about the author, but the blurb sounded interesting and the cover is just plain awesome so i took a chance. This is a nice mix of light BDSM and classic romance. A nice mixture to be sure. The book starts with Lauren mad at herself for getting herself in the position she is now in. She introduced a man she worked with and had the hots for to her stop dead gorgeous sister. Now she finds herself at a combo bachelor/bachlorette party at a ski resort for her sister and mr hot guy. This is where she meets Jamie. His sexy and seemingly into BDSM if the black scarf hanging out of his back pocket means anything. Something Lauren has been curious about for some time. Jamie notices her looking and is intrigued and offers her one night to explore her curiosity. I like the relationship between Jamie and Lauren. It's more than just BDSM. The BDSM parts of this book are actually secondary to the quick love story between Jamie and Lauren. I have to say Lauren sister is a awful, nasty bitch and i felt sorry for what a cynical person she is. For the short amount of story you get I really enjoyed it and wouldn't mind reading the next book in this new series. 3 1/2 Modokker Book Pick Stars for Wicked Weekend by Gillian Archer. A definite sexy little read.

My Review:

This is one of those books for me. There were things that I really liked about it and then there were things that I just didn't like about it. These are the hardest reviews to write, because overall the book wasn't bad. It just wasn't necessarily for me. So let's break it down...

What I liked:
*flagging- I have read LOTS of BDSM books and I have never heard of this. I like the education!
*Jamie- I liked how into Lauren he was. In true Dom fashion, he saw her and he went after her. Loved that pure alpha moment
*friendship between Jamie and Sawyer...their banter was always fun and entertaining.
*I know this is a BDSM novel, but I enjoyed the moments of pure passion (without the D/s play) between the two.

What I didn't like:
*Jamie calling Lauren a slut during their BDSM play. That's a personal thing that just rubbed me wrong.
*Why, why, why would Jamie introduce play just to set Lauren up into a situation that would make him mad at her? I didn't understand that scene AT ALL and it just made me mad.
*the story line between Crystal (sister) and Pierce (her fiance) just seemed to convolute the real story.

Overall the things that I didn't like about the story weren't huge. They simply took me out of the flow of the story and interrupted my enjoyment of it. They definitely would not stop me from checking out this author again.

Jamie is the "god" of a dominant male with a hidden emotional side, Lauren is the quite girl wanting to experience being a submissive.
This story was mild introduction to BDSM.

Lauren is attending her sister's bachelorette/bachelor ski weekend party to the man she secretly crushes on and regrets introducing them. She has had enough of the ski lodge scene at the bar she decides to go in search of drinks to escape her sister and finance. While at the bar she spots an attractive man, notices the black handkerchief in his back pocket knowing the meaning she is caught sizing him up.
Jamie is a Dom looking for a one night with a sub and Lauren is it. As Jamie and Lauren negotiate he realizes that she has had no real experience and decides to play it safe with her if she accepts his terms. Lauren has always wanted to experience being a submissive and accepts.
Their one nights turns into another encounter the following day where Lauren is pushed to her limits and Jamie has a jealous reaction to the scene scenario that he was playing out. When Lauren senses the change in Jamie she calls the safe word to end their encounter. Jamie is relieved and pleased she ended the scene, he believes he has found "his" submissive in Lauren but before he has a chance to explain to her she leaves his hotel room.
Jamie is not willing to give Lauren up.................

I like the idea of the story. The fact that Lauren is on a bachelorette/bachelor weekend celebration for her little sister and her fiance/Lauren's crush. While at the bar "celebrating" she locks eyes with a sexy stranger who just so happens to be flashing the handkerchief signal for a one night fling. She has always been interested in BDSM and the black handkerchief in Jamies back left pocket promises just that.

However, the story was lacking for me. The characters didn't really have a past. I didn't really feel a connection with them. Yeah, you got the sense that Lauren's sister takes advantage of her and is a total bitch to Lauren but that's pretty much it. You get a snippet of Jamie's past and the fact that his mother had infidelity issues but no matter what his father always took her back. So you know that they both have emotional issues but for some reason I just didn't feel for them. It was a fun and entertaining read, don't get me wrong but I would have liked a bit more in the character development.

Favorite quote...
"Jay reached into his pocket and pulled out two pairs of tweezers with dangling crystal beads sparkling from the ends. What the hell were those for? Was he going to watch as she plucked her eyebrows?"
